The problem I have with many "series" UA-cam channels is they tend to make the episodes longer and longer. You sir have found the sweet spot making me want a little more each time. Well done! I hope your engine fix is near. Also, it's been awhile, have you locked Krista in the basement?

Hahaha - no, Krista is busy in the garden 😁 (I’ll insert some footage of her soon). I agree, I often find myself not watching the longer videos too, but it’s a tough balance to fit the right amount of content in the right amount of time!

Fingers crossed on the engine diagnosis front! 'Dead' cars are one thing, but it feels so much worse to me when it's a few tons more holding the floor down 🙁 Hopefully it didn't require a new high-pressure fuel pump 😳 I'm about to do a full cooling system refresh on ours in addition to a full service. It's the middle of winter here so a similar disincentive to crawl around a truck - only at the opposite end of the celsius scale.
I'm impressed with how much 3D printing you're putting into the construction. Keeping weight down is super-important, despite folks often thinking because we have trucks the sky's the limit. These light trucks will pretty much last forever if you keep rust at bay and you aren't permanently running them at or very near GVM. All of the interior work in ours is hollow-core for the same reason.

Well as much as I complain about heat, I will always prefer it to the cold!! Designing and printing parts gets kind of addictive after a while!! Good luck on the cooling system, and hope it doesn’t get too cold!

I apologize for laughing with you Bruce, you crack me up! I am happy to see I ain't the only one that does the "those things" like kick crap over and hit my head on things!
Thanks for sharing, great channel and build!
If you decide to give it up we are selling our Adventure Ready ATW!

LOL - sometimes it’s more fun to not edit that stuff out 🤣

Speaking of air conditioning, I noticed that some manufacturers are now offering 120V mini splits with 120v cassette cooling units inside rather than the wall mounted monstrosities. Now, if they will just offer 120v mini split units with dual 120V cassettes. So I can put a pair oin my Class A rebuild. Front and bedroom in place of the monster loud Coleman 1500's it has now.
I just don't have the wall cabinet space to sacrifice to the wall units.

Can also get essentially a mini-split but not quite split - the Midea U - strongly considered going that way too, but no heat pump going that way.

As one who has a Nature's Head. Practice emptying it out before you seal it in. Empty the P bottle, slide the top off and remove it , detach the vent hose and pull it all out...

Yep, and more importantly, DONT try to squeeze every last ounce of space out of the pee bottle!!! We used this one in our previous Fuso, the white FE Box truck. - But good call to make sure all operations work before mounting it permanently!

You should’ve installed the air conditioning as step one. :)

      @BruceandKrista  2 місяці тому +1

Agreed - but then it would just be blowing the hot air into my shop 🤪…. Or, I could install AC in my shop!!

@@BruceandKrista Yeah, your RV isn’t really big enough to do all of your construction work inside it :)
From what I understand, if you close the output valve on a mini split, and run the compressor for the right amount of time (couple minutes?), it collects all the refrigerant inside the outdoor unit. So you can install one temporarily and use it.
(If you don’t do it that way, you’d need a refrigerant recovery machine and they’re expensive)
So you can probably temporarily add AC to your workshop till you’re ready to move full time into your Fuso.

In reality, if I installed a temperature controlled exhaus/inlet fan in my shop, I could bring cool air in at night and push the hot air out… would probably make a pretty big difference…. But the time I spent on that would be more time the truck takes to finish 🤣

@BruceandKrista no joke there. Yesterday, I was working on the Cummins in my FERD Class A, and since the engine is under the floor between the front seats, I decided to run the front ac and just leave the engine hatch cover off. This way it would be cool inside, and was hoping the cool air would go down the hole past the engine to make the Texas heat more bearable when I was on the creeper pushing the P pump up from the bottom. It did as I hoped, but dang, it raised the shops inside temperature up like crazy. Going from inside the bus to the underside was like walking through a house on fire! And that was with the shop fans running too!
I put a 5 gallon bucket under the side of the bus to catch the ac condensation so the shop floor where I was working on the creeper would be dryer and it collected 2 buckets full of water dripping off the big guy.
There is a reason why Texans drink iced sweet tea and have air conditioning on everything we own!
Grandson is getting better with the 3D printer....

Mmmm 5 gallon bucket of Sweet Tea… reminds me of being in Corpus Christi 😁 good to hear the printer is coming along, soon you’ll have all sorts of custom parts!

Why not build models outside of the box? Better quality and process. Nothing in a box build is forever.

Too big to fit through the door! (But good idea!)
