@@BERETTA9mmUSA I bought my first 1911 - Dan Wesson Vigil CCO based on Beretta9mmUSA's review on his CCO and it is worth every penny. The quality and finish on a DW is hands down much better than the SA, RIA, Kimber and S&W of the world. I went to a gun show and compared the fit and finish of the production manufacturers. DW blows them out of the water. Keep up the great work!
A new "Beretta9mmUSA" Premiere video with the key words "Dan Wesson" and "1911" I couldn't smash the mouse button to watch fast enough. Dan's are such high quality in there class.

~It is my opinion the reason for the DW Hammer Rust is because it is made with White Steel; there is no protective finish. Keep it oiled or give it a coat of a clear protectant as comes on most Stainless Steel Firearms.

I recently purchased a full sized Vigil. Do you prefer the Lok grips over the stock wood grips? I am experiencing barrel flip, and am thinking about swapping them out.
I picked up the A2 four months ago and it is exactly what I wanted, no frills and no “tactical” stamping as on my TRP(which I sold to buy the A2). Impressed enough that I ordered the Vigil commander in 45 to carry(if it runs without any issues). If this is their entry level, what differences will be in the non entry level guns? Is it quality or just features? I picked the vigil because it has what I want. I don’t need a rail, front and top serrated slide or the bobtail. I would appreciate if you guys would contact DW on the hammer issue. I’m in AZ and I usually go over my carry gun with CLP every week even if I don’t shoot. OCD, the corps will do that. Thanks gentlemen
Sir, I have a Valor (Duty finished) and Razorback. They both have the same rust spotting issue that you showed in the video. I was able to use my Dremel with polishing compound to remove it temporarily, however, it came back in a few weeks. This is even with applying oil pretty regularly. I’m thinking about replacing the Razorback hammer with an actual stainless steel one and maybe blueing the Valor hammer.
appreciate your honesty. I also have a rust issues on my DW but that doesnt lean me towards ever selling them. Like you said I can just install a better hammer. Thanks for bringing it up!
When I first bought my Vigil I noticed the rusting issue on my hammer. However, I have been successful in keeping it from getting worse (or mostly goes away) by cleaning and lubing the hammer with Ballistol. Furthermore, I continuously keep that area cleaned and lightly lubed as needed. Beretta Sr., I can email you pictures of my current EDC (Guardian) or any of my other models that have exposed hammers if you would like. I hope this helps. Good luck!
Dan Wesson 1911s are truly high quality having owned two myself. Once again, great video guys. If you are able to, try and get a hold of a CZ Custom gun. You will not believe how they shoot. CTR
Suggestion for the hammer rust: 1. I would tape the rare of the slide. 2. Put the hammer at half cocked. 3. Use ballistol oil with a 22 brass bore brush (Or wet sand paper rolled up if the brush is not doing the job) to remove the rust while at the same time putting a protective coat of oil on the metal. Hope this helps.
I had a Valor vbob in 9mm which at the time was the flagship model and I experienced several malfunctions when I first got it and it took about 400rds for it to break in. I bought a couple of Ed Brown mags and it has run reliably with those
