    My opinion is that the 1911 is designed to be a full size fighting pistol, and that the government size will always be the best. I would only get a compact if it’s a custom like a Wilson Combat, or semi custom like Dan Wesson. Of all the 1911 failures I’ve seen in videos, most are from officer size guns.

    • @BERETTA9mmUSA
      @BERETTA9mmUSA  4 роки тому +2

      John W I agree with you, but I thought I would try another smaller one. I have had great luck running Commander Size 1911’s on our channel including the Dan Wesson’s and a Magnum Research Commander. Most of my collection are 5 inch Government 1911 pistols. Dan Wesson, Smith&Wesson, Sig, and Les Baers. All are Excellent in Full Size as you said in your comment.

    I believe those malfunctions are due to the frame being the feeding ramp and there’s a gap that the round has to overcome between the frame (feed ramp) and the barrel and the mags don’t have the rounds situated at enough of an angle not to get caught in that gap

  • @daspiper8941

    I would not buy this handgun because of the aluminum feed ramp.

    I have the same jamming problems with my Kimber ultra carry II custom shop. I was going to buy this gun till I saw this video. I do not want a gun that has to have just the right mag, or it won't function. I'll stay with my Glock. I know, its not nearly as pretty but when I pull the trigger it goes bang. Doesn't matter what ammo it works all the time.

    Great video guys, always love watching them, both of you guys are very good shooters & YB has really gotten good with speed, i have 1911’s in all type sizes & calibers, but i have 9mm & 45 acp Rugers with aluminum alloy lightweight frame in commander size that are great quality & have run flawlessly, they are 70 series & use a titanium insert in the feed ramp part of the frame so that the round doesn’t beat up the aluminum frame, they also make the same in the officer size in both calibers that use the same design, also titanium firing pins with a heavy spring so that if dropped, the inertia will not overcome the firing pin spring. Once again thanks for the content you provide.

    Great video and many thanks for your time and technical analysis putting it together. I noticed in the video that it seems to have shot reliably with the right magazine, but it is still not recommended due to the MIM and cast parts.
    I was gifted one, so what would you recommend to improve it, if possible? A better firing pin and stop? Maybe a Wilson Combat bulletproof? Seems like a MIM firing pin would definitely be a liability.
    Thanks for the video!

    Brass hit you on the head. Now I don’t feel bad. I also got knocked in the forehead with the brass. Same weapon except mine was blued. Just bought it a few days ago. Have to add that my malfunction was caused by my support hand thumb bumping the slide stop/slide release on recoil causing at first I thought was a malfunction but was my own headspace and timing. Weapon was a lot smaller then the commander 4.25 . Have to pay attention to my hold and thumb. Interesting at best but Dan Wesson does not make the magazine checkmate, metalform cmc, and several others.

    Question? Over time does excessive shooting ruin a aluminum made gun far as the heat emitted from the rounds being shot from the gun.

    • @BERETTA9mmUSA
      @BERETTA9mmUSA  2 роки тому +1

      Everything that touches the round is made of steel when Firing a pistol,including the barrel and the reinforcements around the barrel including the entire slide. In this case it’s a aluminum frame and yes the aluminum frame does not last as long as a steel frame by about 30,000 rounds lifetime. So if A steel frame last 60,000 rounds then a aluminum frame will last roughly 30,000 rounds. As you may know 30,000 rounds is a lot of rounds. In most cases a lifetime worth. This is just a rough guess on numbers I have never heard any less numbers than that when talking about a 9mm or a 45 ACP 1911. Hope this info helps. It is a good starting point anyway. Im in the market for a Bul Armory that looks quite identical to this one, im suspecting theyre probably made by the same manufacturer, being both an Israel company.

      arvid gunardi I much prefer the Commander Size for less felt recoil and my example, the Commander was so much more Reliable. The reliability of a firearm should matter to every possible owner. These are our findings in our testing of several 1911’s made in Israel your mileage may differ. 👊😎🥳👍🇺🇸

      @@BERETTA9mmUSA i was considering the commander, but seemed to like the officer for its size and collection value i guess. If theyre indeed made by the same manufacturer, its interesting how firearms industry seemed to share same items with different branding. I just found out my italian Tanfoglio AR was actually made by ADC Customs, totally different company.

      @@BERETTA9mmUSA hey i just noticed on your gun right side dust cover it clearly says Bul, and the knife is also the same that comes with the BUL armory im getting. So yeah they are the same i guess. Thanks for the video, i get to see closer how the gun is, except mine would be in 9mm.

      @@BERETTA9mmUSA I "recycle" the funds to afford the next acquisition. There is always a list and to make that happen anything I have that I've lost interest in is liquidated. You gotta do what you gotta do. :) Enjoy the Les Baer.

    This is not the product I would expect from MR. They, above all, should bring this to market rated for 45 +P+ or 45 Super. IMO, there's no market for just another 45 ACP.
    Just another weak assed legacy cartridge.
    It is pretty, sort of like a fat hog wearing lipstick. Looks alone don't cut it.
