While spouting off about how little respect Thrash Metal has gotten, they show that VH1 was clueless themselves. Guns and Roses IS NOT THRASH METAL! They had no place in this episode!
You really didn't pay any attention obviously. By the time they brought up GnR, the documentary had moved on from Thrash as a genre. They talked about GnR not as a Thrash band but rather a band that sort of merged the two genres of Glam and Thrash together.
You know, watching these documentaries comfort me. I really am at a loss with whats going on in this world, but i feel proud of being a part of a movement in Rock and Metal and being a Metal head, Rocker, Greb, Greasy skank etc...We have heard them all right? Rock and Metal WILL COME BACK WITH A VENGEANCE!
I honestly would love to watch a documentary on thrash metal that isn't 90% focused on Metallica every thrash documentary is mostly about them need more on Slayer, Megadeth & Anthrax.
@Jesse Vortex sungte No, glam metal was just mentioned as something totally opposite to thrash. GNR in the other hand got their 5 minutes. They mention shit like GNR and don't even bother to mention Dark Angel or Kreator. Pathetic.
@Jesse Vortex sungte the GNR part is between Metallica and Anthrax. And it's clear to me that somebody wanted to promote GNR as a metal band. And they were nothing more than Geffen puppets. You're not doing street level with Geffen backing you do you?
Technically Faith No More was the first to mesh metal and rap to the mainstream. In 1989 The Real Thing debuted and the first song was Epic. That song was played in heavy rotation on MTV.
This is like the only thrash documentary that shows the true glam metal bands when they discuss them at 0:43. Poison, warrant, faster pussycat, Bon Jovi. Not Ratt and Motley Crüe who are talked about in other documentary’s, yes I feel motley Crüe did turn hair metal on girls girls and girls and dr feelgood but on the first 2 albums motley Crüe were a heavy metal bans
FROM NEWYORK---- ANTHRAX! CALIFORNIA--- SLAYER L.A-- MEGADEATH AND THE LEADER OF REVOLUTION ----- METALLICA!!!!!( It feels so pain to miss 80s metallica, except james never made me feel disappoint) M SO PROUD BE A FAN OF HEAVY-THRASH METAL.
Well it was originally known as a Glam/Hair Metal before going back and forth with Hard Rock, also Hard Rock was in the between field of Rock and Metal so this documentary also featured AC/DC
Axel Rose. The least toughest self-proclaimed "tough guy" in the history of ever. I remember the first time I heard Metallica's Enter Sandman, I was watching the video on my giant 27 inch screen. I've never been blown away by a song or video before or since. That song was just nonstop hooks from start to finish, and it made all the "I hate Justice for ALL" people finally shut up.
uh,i'm pretty sure Metallica move to San Francisco because Cliff Burton told them they had to move there he was going to be in the band and you gave him no credit for being but he was the driving force of Metallica
What's Cliff live performance got to do with anything? Yes it's a terrible shame that he died when he did but you wanna know who wrote 90% of the riffs we all know and love? Fucking James. You wanna know who did all the networking, tape trading and getting the bands name out there? Fucking Lars. Metallica would be no where without either of them and you can't say that's true for Cliff because they wouldn't be the biggest metal band in the world right now if that was the case. Sorry to burst your little bubble that's the truth and before you start going on about how they sold out after Cliff died or some shit just save it because I am sick to death of hearing it.
Todd Pierson I did. Twice. On Ride the lightning tour, and again a week before he died,on the Master tour, and met him and tho he was a great musician, was a bit of a dick to us fans the whole weekend we hung out.
Why the fuck is this documentary titled - THRASH METAL DOCUMENTARY? 10 minutes about thrash metal 6 minutes about Guns n Roses, 20 minutes about Rap Metal, Nu metal , Industrial Metal... wtf?
No one cares whether they are metal or glam. They aren't a metal band. But they have some decent songs. And as it is stated in the documentary, they are a mixture. They contain a little metal, some glam, some pop... Still a decent band. However, nu metal is...shit...
Feels like the late 2000s was Metal's fairwell to the world. The last nail on the coffin will be when Ozzy dies. Metal will never be the same ever again.
GnR. The true fathers of thrash! They even invented crossover before kicking off the early grindcore style in UK way before napalm. Good to see them getting the recognition they deserve.
HAHAHA I totally pictured the welcome to the jungle video synced up to from enslavement to obliteration. the image makes me smile. I do like GnR though but they are a hard rock band to me not really metal
Taran Wow, what the hell is wrong with people? There's no need to be so hostile. You know the old saying: opinions are like assholes. Accept that there are people out there with different taste in music than you and try not to get emotional about it.
GNR’s appetite for destruction was amazing . They shouldn’t be in the poison or Bon Jovi category but they don’t belong with Metallica or Slayer either .
Ok serious question. What video is it on the thumbnail?? Ive seen quick clips of it time to time but never seen the whole thing. I know its early slayer but thats about it. Anyone?
"these are the uglies humans I have ever seen....I have to buy this" lol lol Sebastian Bach is the best...now thats a voice!!!!!!!! ONE OF THE BEST ROCK SINGERS EVER.
Was surprised there wasn't anything on Pantera or Tool & further emphasis on Slayer. Anyways Bruce Dickinson said it best "Metal out of all the genres, will always survive. Bcos it is the will of the people"
30:39 if questioning your surroundings and your society makes you a villain. Then I'm a goddamn bane of the world's existence. I'd rather be a villain and stand up for the truth than be a hero and be as blind as justice itself.
Faith No More is never mentioned, I feel still the most influential (metal/rock, whatever you want to call it) band that should be in here or have more than 1 Grammy Nomination for "Epic" in 1990 - i won't list the over one hundred bands that still are influenced by them, from decent, interesting bands (Dillinger Escape Plan, Deftones) to the Korn, Slipknot, ect stuff, if that's still going on
fuck it, i am starting a metal band. I want to take metal music back to its roots; i want to merge blues with psychedelic rock and folk rock. When I have enough money i am buying an electric guitar. I know it is going to be hard, but i want to give it a shot.
I feel as time goes by that both the fans & also thrash bands have grown to respect the Glam style of that era. I always loved both genres. Why be so divided? Doesn't benefit anybody. Motley Crue & Ratt are undeniably badass bands 🤘🔥
Whoever uploaded this just put in "thrash documentary." When it first aired it wasn't intended on being strictly a thrash documentary.... Check out Sam Dunn's Metal Evolution or Get Thrashed. They're much better than this.
I facepalm everytime someone says the big 4. The only one to ever mention the big 5 is Dave Mustaine. Replace Anthrax with Exodus and Testament and you have the big 5. As it always should have been. And yes, i'm not a very big Anthrax fan. On the other hand, i do love Scott Ian's work with S.O.D.
Can you imagine if this was made today? The cancel culture would have come for Dave mustaine because of his bit at the beginning of the documentary, sad how times have changed.
think they mentioned all the other bands because its about the evolution of Thrash....Mega is the SHIT.. got into it when R&B as all electric synth funk that sounded the same...was young and angry living in L.A. spot was a natural move....Kill em All,early Mega....love that shit
You didn't get the point of it really, Guns were Metal. They combined Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Punk, Bluesy, the reason they successful was they had every style in it. Did you even watched it
Gustaaf Kouwenberg testament formed in 1984 and were known as legacy at the time I believe. The band you were thinking of was either exciter or overkill.
garyconyers It's hard to say. I'd consider them proto thrash if anything, cause although venom are new wave British heavy metal, they did have some thrashy songs that I guess you could say influenced the big 4 and other thrash bands at the time to do what they did back in the day. I could say the same thing about motorhead even though lemmy (RIP) claims that they weren't a metal band
As soon as they called Guns and Roses a metal band I checked out. Seriously...the fuck? No self respecting metalhead thinks they're in the same category. They're "Butt-Rock", and should be addressed as such.
Those were kind words by Geezer Butler about Metallica.
He spoke the truth!! From the originators to the new (then) masters of Heavy Metal. And it takes a real, honest person like Butler to say that.
Saying Nu Metal brought the old classics and NWOBHM back!? Fuck that, Those bands never left.
Metal needs to take back the music industry.
Too expensive to record rock music
Everyone please watch the Metal Evolution episode on thrash, it's like a good version of this with the facts straight.
While spouting off about how little respect Thrash Metal has gotten, they show that VH1 was clueless themselves. Guns and Roses IS NOT THRASH METAL! They had no place in this episode!
There called Limp Dick not Limp Biskit
Pope Broken 3 right! They're not even metal in my opinion. They're very good Hard Rock... But NOT METAL
they are hard rock, but they are here because they were just like metallic on the sense of being agains the glam metal era
You really didn't pay any attention obviously. By the time they brought up GnR, the documentary had moved on from Thrash as a genre. They talked about GnR not as a Thrash band but rather a band that sort of merged the two genres of Glam and Thrash together.
Pope Broken 3 Guns N’ Roses is hard rock

Rock and Metal WILL COME BACK WITH A VENGEANCE!
I just watched a documentary about "thrash metal" yet I didn't hear the word "Megadeth" once.
yeah why should you? you saw metallica
And Megadeath was mentioned and some of the members were featured but didn't have as big of an influence as Metallica
Adrian G No you thought it was mentioned because you saw Dave, but no, it was not mentioned.
XaNick 19 Oh, child.
dave isnt enough?
I honestly would love to watch a documentary on thrash metal that isn't 90% focused on Metallica every thrash documentary is mostly about them need more on Slayer, Megadeth & Anthrax.
GNR in thrash documentary. What a laugh. At the time they were in the same category as glam metal bands.
yeah how odd
yeah and metalica tour whit them wtf
Agreed
@Jesse Vortex sungte No, glam metal was just mentioned as something totally opposite to thrash. GNR in the other hand got their 5 minutes. They mention shit like GNR and don't even bother to mention Dark Angel or Kreator. Pathetic.

one word SLAYER
Fuck yeah!
within the first minute this video would never be played on television in 2018.... thats the sad truth
Technically Faith No More was the first to mesh metal and rap to the mainstream. In 1989 The Real Thing debuted and the first song was Epic. That song was played in heavy rotation on MTV.
🐸☕
I think anthrax did it first. Or was it Aerosmith?

I can’t believe they really have Guns N’ Roses based as heavy metal
Well it was originally known as a Glam/Hair Metal before going back and forth with Hard Rock, also Hard Rock was in the between field of Rock and Metal so this documentary also featured AC/DC
Guns and roses isn't metal🤣it's like hard rock or something, similar to ACDC?
Hard rock and NOT HAIR METAL either. If you cant hear the difference between poison, cinderella, bon Jovie and GnR I dont know what to say.
Axel Rose. The least toughest self-proclaimed "tough guy" in the history of ever.

wrong, James and Lars are the driving force of Metallica everybody knows that.
JoRdOguitarman1 you are wrong. did you ever see them play live when Cliff was still alive?
What's Cliff live performance got to do with anything? Yes it's a terrible shame that he died when he did but you wanna know who wrote 90% of the riffs we all know and love? Fucking James. After Cliff died, Metallica died with him. I appreciate and acknowledge how huge their first three albums were, but after that....dead.
20:36 Finally Anthrax gets the credit they deserve. My favorite band,
Ya gotta luv that new Metal Band Jethro Tull, good idea, shredding on a flute
"I hate metal but I love Guns & Roses!" Thats because Guns & Roses isn't metal!
Don't get us started lol
They're called Guns 'N Roses
Their hard rock
Only alphabet ever done that was worth a damn Appetite for Destruction it was metal, Rock, Punk,
The black album is shit
Why the fuck is this documentary titled - THRASH METAL DOCUMENTARY?
10 minutes about thrash metal
6 minutes about Guns n Roses,
20 minutes about Rap Metal, Nu metal , Industrial Metal... wtf?
yes I thought the same thing lol.
vh1 style :P
Jimmy Saboter thanks for saving me some time. the gnr section just started
Jimmy Saboter I just wasted part of my life waiting for some thrash metal....WTF VH1
*10 min Metallica
6 Guns and Roses
20 min industrial/Nu
barely thrash at all.
Did redhead just say that appetite for destruction was the best rock record of the 80s?????? I'm sorry. I'm speechless...
They went through the 90s with out mentioning pantera...
Same with Suicidal Tendencies
Gay L A Metal
My favorite term ever
Guns n' Roses is not metal.
It's glam as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah.
I said it.
Daniel Gerard
Daniel Gerard Gn'R DEFINITLY METAL!
Guns and Roses can lick the nuggets from my taint. Everything about Axyl Rose SCREAMS glam. Including his fucking DRAMA QUEEN personality.
Daniel Gerard it's hard rock man
No one cares whether they are metal or glam. They aren't a metal band. But they have some decent songs. And as it is stated in the documentary, they are a mixture. They contain a little metal, some glam, some pop... Still a decent band. However, nu metal is...shit...

Punk?
GnR. The true fathers of thrash! They even invented crossover before kicking off the early grindcore style in UK way before napalm. Good to see them getting the recognition they deserve.
Guns n Roses kicked off Grindcore..? Okaaaaaay. 😂
stop
Lol
HAHAHA I totally pictured the welcome to the jungle video synced up to from enslavement to obliteration. the image makes me smile. I do like GnR though but they are a hard rock band to me not really metal
😆😆😆
I think they should have talked more about slayer
wait... people are irritated with Metallicas Black Album, but they love the fact that Anthrax worked with a rap group?
wth?
The Black Album was meh while the music Anthrax produced with that rap group kicks some serious ass.
yea...and tats why the black album sold 20 million records. Enter Sandman gets played in arenas and football stadiums every year
Taran So does Rihanna.
and shes an international superstar that is more successful and has impacted more people than you ever will..so what is your point?
Taran Wow, what the hell is wrong with people? There's no need to be so hostile. You know the old saying: opinions are like assholes. Accept that there are people out there with different taste in music than you and try not to get emotional about it.
Can you guys please give DAVE MUSTAINE some respect and recognition!!?? The man is a BEAST.
We will
Back-to-back Scott Ian and Lars Ulrich interview clips is crossing the pain threshold a little
GNR’s appetite for destruction was amazing . They shouldn’t be in the poison or Bon Jovi category but they don’t belong with Metallica or Slayer either .
Nice to see Axl wear a Thin Lizzy T-Shirt!
wow! G&r in a thrash doc?! WTF
I KNOW RITE?!
33:00 Everyone looks for the sacrificial lamb. The scapegoat. Nobody wants to look at the dysfunction in the home where it starts.
How do they cover the 90s and Manson without doing a LARGE section about PANTERA ???? Im confused .....
All copies of Agnostic Front, NYHC Punk Thrash, Minor Threat, etc......
yup ..fake
So the only thing I got from this whole thing is that limp biscuit opened for pantera... what a mix haha
RIP Malcolm Dome
Uhh yeah I hope not also cuz IRON MAIDEN kills gnr WITHOUT QUESTION!
Great documentary. Thanks for posting.
I dont give a fuck what anyone says, the black album is fantastic.
Can't give you shit for having the right attitude. I liked a few songs on that album.
JelloFluoride is of wolf and man one of them
Connor stratton lol that's usually the one most of my friends point to as one of the good ones from the black album. never fails.
I liked Enter Sandman when I was younger. Before I really gave their earlier albums a good listen to.
Black album rules
The great thung about thrash is they dont give a shit what anything people think.I love that!
GLAMOUR METAL wasn't hard enough to be considered actual METAL!!!
Go listen to W.A.S.P "Animal (Fuck Like a Beast) or Dokken "Kiss of Death" or "Mr Scary"........ Kinda makes a lot of Thrash look a bit tame.
welp i will say this rock is the most diverse genre in the world and i proudly love it
Ok serious question.
What video is it on the thumbnail??
Ive seen quick clips of it time to time but never seen the whole thing. I know its early slayer but thats about it. Anyone?
I have a Slayer recording of them covering Motley Crue lol.. I must admit Motley Crue is one of the few Glam Metal bands I liked 😎🤘
"these are the uglies humans I have ever seen....I have to buy this" lol lol Sebastian Bach is the best...now thats a voice!!!!!!!! ONE OF THE BEST ROCK SINGERS EVER.
Slayer,exodus, possessed , nuff said! \../
9:09 spot on dude
Was surprised there wasn't anything on Pantera or Tool & further emphasis on Slayer.
Anyways Bruce Dickinson said it best "Metal out of all the genres, will always survive. Bcos it is the will of the people"
im a metal fan from Argentina !

There’s no such thing as a poser. I love Poison. I also love Megadeth and Metallica. There’s just different types of metal.
Thank You Finally Some One Who Thinks On The Same Level As I Do
I feel as time goes by that both the fans & also thrash bands have grown to respect the Glam style of that era. I always loved both genres. Why be so divided? Doesn't benefit anybody. Motley Crue & Ratt are undeniably badass bands 🤘🔥
Mitch T 100%
Wow. It’s great to know people feel the same way.
Metal Maniac damn straight
Manson is industrial metal
does anyone know what the song is at 4.00.. ?? thx in case.
Whoever uploaded this just put in "thrash documentary." When it first aired it wasn't intended on being strictly a thrash documentary.... Check out Sam Dunn's Metal Evolution or Get Thrashed. They're much better than this.
i think so, too. this is too mainstream infected
I had no idea kip winger played in slayer... lol, that thumbnail.
Can anyone tell me what format those use your illusions are in at 15:52?
History is history and the greatest band of all time as it stands right now is Cannibal Corpse
I want to be mad at you...but I can't.
oh, so i must to say you a real metalhead or mentalhead?
ARE FUCKING KIDDING ME KID?!
GEORGE FISHER WILL BE LAUGH IF HE READ YOUR STUPIDITY COMMENT!
FUCK , Geezer Butler can speak without moving his mouth!!
LOL
I facepalm everytime someone says the big 4. The only one to ever mention the big 5 is Dave Mustaine.
Replace Anthrax with Exodus and Testament and you have the big 5. As it always should have been.
And yes, i'm not a very big Anthrax fan. On the other hand, i do love Scott Ian's work with S.O.D.
great idea...agree!!
Can we be honest and say that at first anthrax were pretty fucking good for the at least the first two records
Replace exodus anthrax or testament with Overkill and now we're talking
Anthrax a subpar band that has always been chasing that one elusive breakthrough hit which never came and if their honest they will admit it
Replace both Anthrax and Megadeth with Exodus and Testament. As much as I like Megadeth and Anthrax, the others are just so much better.
You see all these documentaries of metal but where's Pantera at
Dave mustaine would have 2 apologize 4 that
The song that plays on 1:18 ? Anyone know this ? Please answer !!!
can anyone tell me what is the song playing 1:17-1:18 ....thanks in advance
Thanks Scott Ian. You helped bring in Limp Bizkit
Lol I just left that comment
Can you imagine if this was made today?
The cancel culture would have come for Dave mustaine because of his bit at the beginning of the documentary, sad how times have changed.
They would also go after Kerry King.
think they mentioned all the other bands because its about the evolution of Thrash....Mega is the SHIT.. got into it when R&B as all electric synth funk that sounded the same...was young and angry living in L.A. spot was a natural move....Kill em All,early Mega....love that shit
They call it Heavy Metal because of the heavy sound that comes from the drums and the strings
No shit
How can they not pay a nod to the real godfathers of Thrash MOTORHEAD
Anyone know the name of the song they play at the start when introducing the big 4
metall forever. loved it nice video
Alexi Laiho & Children Of Bodom belong on here. Metal Till The Bitter End \m/
Dave and Dave both talk man
They hated motley crue yet tom araya covered looks that kill off shout at the devil.
what's the song at 1:22?
I've posted the same question, I need to know, did you ever find out the name of the song?
Where are the first 3 parts? I dont see them
Does anyone have a link to the other episodes ?
Song name at 1:18 - 2:00?
Ummm,i think this was clips was all 7 episodes. Guns have nothing to do with thrash metal. Limp Bizkit def doesn't.
You didn't get the point of it really, Guns were Metal. They combined Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, Punk, Bluesy, the reason they successful was they had every style in it. Did you even watched it
BUT the are still not THRASH , since it's THRASH doc it should be about bands like Exodus & Testament (which are older then the "BIG FOUR".
Gustaaf Kouwenberg testament formed in 1984 and were known as legacy at the time I believe. The band you were thinking of was either exciter or overkill.
Would Venom (who predated the 'big 4' ) be classed as Thrash?
garyconyers It's hard to say.
Great 👍
hahahha. Gay LA Metal
good one, gay la metal hahaha, Dave always had original things going on: good mourning or Rust in peace, genius
It was a shitty, bigoted, stupid remark.
@@cjaquilino Dave absolutely right, Glam is gay.
@@T.N.D.88 exactly, fuck sjw's
@@cjaquilino no it wasn't. How are guys that dress like women straight?
1:19-1:50 which song was it?
19:55 ... I'm surprised they didn't say Black Metal. ^^
1:46- 1:50 where's this video from?
It's from the metal militia basement I believe. I would love to see this whole video.
whats the song at 28:00
No mention of Rage Against the Machine. They pratically invented rap-metal as a genre.
yeah they are one of the milestones in crossover
Best thrash band is Slayer.
PooleParty24/7 L
Hell fucking NO
Metallica are kings! they are the quintessential piece of heavy rock/metal in music history
what were those old school vids of slayer?
whats the song ? the first one?
is this about thrash or metallica and guns n roses???
As soon as they called Guns and Roses a metal band I checked out. Seriously...the fuck? No self respecting metalhead thinks they're in the same category. They're "Butt-Rock", and should be addressed as such.
Metallica is thrash, gnr is trash
It just dawned on me that I’ve never heard the original Bring The Noise

GDM _ old bridge militia basement. I saw pictures of it but never knew they have taped it. I hope they will bring it out soon!
