It makes no sense. I have youtube premium and they asked me if I wanted to try the new layout for a while, so I assumed that if I didn't like it I could switch back to the way it was. You should not have to install fixes to go back, you should be able to do it anyway.
This is the worst UI I've ever seen in any big web site, I don't think even I as a newbie developer could ever possible come up with something this bad even if I tried.

there was an option before to go back to the original layout, seems that UA-cam is really pushing for this layout cause that option is now gone in the settings

You can also do ublock origin extension, and copy paste a filter (its in another video) which does the same but without any extra features
I realized that the new UA-cam layout has changed back on May 18th 2024 and the old layout is now back.
