Hello! Thank you very much for this tutorial. I had wanted to know this technique of shading for a long time. I have a doubt: In the gradients menu, how do I get the color picker button to appear?
To do this, just select one of markers. I mean, select needed marker in gradient panel. Color picker will become available. Thank you for warm feedback! I recommend you to watch tutorial ‘9 ways to add texture’. I show a lot more there, you’ll be amazed, I promise;)
Hi, Osama! I'm glad that you enjoyed. There's also tip for you if this brush slows your computer too much: bring brush to photoshop and save it. Then open it in illustrator as raster and object:image trace:make and expand. After this save it as brush. Second way: simply expand created noise pattern before you save it as brush. It will help. I will show this in future tutorials. Didn’t want to complicate this video too much. Either way you can create and use brush just like in this tutorial for small illustrations, where you don't have many objects.
Thank you for the tutorial! I have a quick question. How do you get the eyedropper icon to appear in the gradient window? I can only choose colors from a small color picker or enter a hex value which makes the whole process a lot less smooth. I've seen this issue being frequently brought up in google and didn't find a satisfying answer. It would be ideal to be able to pick colors from the artboard just like you're able to do in photoshop. Is that possible and if so then how? Thanks so much in advance!
I appreciate your feedback! Directly to the point: 1. Created gradient - ‘G’ for gradient tool. Select any marker. Eye dropper will be available in gradient panel (left bottom corner). IF you can’t see gradient tool, you still can see the same markers in gradient panel. Do the same with them. 2. Created gradient - double click on needed marker. See eye dropper in appeared panel. You can pick any color from swatches also. Or choose custom color. 3. It’s really quick and allows you to keep control. Just pick marker and pick any color with eye dropper. Also it’s better to have needed colors in swatches panel. You’ll need to simply double click on marker and pick color from swatches. Anything else, Nic? Don’t hesitate to ask. I made this channel to share knowledge and methods, so feel free to take what you came here for ;) P.S. I think you need to watch ‘Freeform gradient’ tutorial, where I create liquid shapes. There’s deep explanations and advanced gradient tips.
@@tt_tutorials Thank you so much for the fast reply! The problem appears to be that if I want to edit gradient colors I have to paste hex values into the gradient window (when I double click on a marker). What I've seen in your video is that you have an eyedropper inside your gradient box (please see the attached link where I've compared what I see vs. what you had in your tutorial): ibb.co/VSG9RGq Essentially what would be very helpful is an option to take a color from an object you have already created and use it as one of the colors in your gradient. Btw. the trick with brush shadow/noise is amazing and it blew my mind!
