- Join Shawn & Charlotte as we return to Slagharen Theme Park & Resort in The Netherlands in the third park of our summer 2020 European Road Trip! In this vlog we soak up the awesome atmosphere of Slagharen along with sharing a mix of on and off ride footage from various different rides across the park. We experience Gold Rush, Wild West Adventure and many more fantastic attractions that feature at this Wild West themed park!

I loved this park when I visited last year, Gold Rush is awesome and one of the best Gerstlauer coasters ever made

I am a massive fan off old classic rides at theme parks.
The new accomodations are called "Raccoon Lodges" in Raccoon Village. Part of the park.

@@ThemeParkWorldwide I live near Slagharen... I never sleep there! The beds in most of the accommodations are terrible compared to my own, haha! The Raccoon Lodges seem to be fine though... Bosrijk at Efteling is my favorite (never had a bad experience!) and I go there every year! I even have an annual pass ;-) a Shame this year will be a terrible year for funfairs around the world! I really feel for these people, because I love going to Tilburg and Uden every year... Loved the vlog Shawn!

cool park i like the wild west theme! a woodie would really fit into the theme , not a hibred but a classic woodie ! my fave part of the park is the observation tower and the cable car ! cable car is kinda low to the ground compared to other rides of the same type , makes it more enjoyable to ride in my opinion!! once again charlotte making your vlogs even better! far out !!!!!!

This park is really cute. I love it here. The only thing missing is a medium sized wooden coaster.

ive always been a bit of a ride hardware geek and followed a certain towers page for a long time.
your vlogs made me fall in love with parks again after a long time of not visiting. You guys are such an inspiration and such a massive influence on people to get out and about. i just want to say thank you. The carousel and the observation tower were actually at plessurewood hills in the UK in the 90s. Shocked they are still going!

one of my favourite thing's regarding the filming is when Shawn is on ride POV and Charlotte does an OFF RIDE....;.and you sync them both. really looks good. (i know it couldn't be done in this vlog but seen it work really well in previous vlog's)

As for other small parks in our country, there is DippieDoe near Eindhoven (between Efteling and Toverland), Drouwenerzand in Drenthe (near Slagharen), Park Tivoli near Nijmegen (50 km north of Toverland +- ) and well... Mini Mundi in my own province Zeeland, which started as a miniature park. Also Latin for 'little world' of couse.

Yaay our homepark! Note that The Black hill ranger path is not included in the regular admission unfortunately and you have to make a reservation for a timeslot. The waterpark is also not included in normal admission.
The balcony at the entrance is indeed a place where often the park mascots and/or entertainers welcome the guests!
All the accommodations you can see are part of the resort, there is also a campground and they also have a lot of tipi tents you can stay in! There are more facilities when you stay like an extra outdoor pool area, restaurant and lots of evening entertainment etc. And you can walk in the park when it’s closed at night!
The space behind the ferriswheel was also full of accommodations but they were removed a few years ago and this area will be the place for new expansion for the themepark somewhere in the future. Rumours are there will be a suspended familycoaster but they also say they had great talks and plans with Gerstlauer 😊 slagharen also said in podcasts that they would like a interactive shooting darkride and riverrapids .... lets see what the future will bring
Did you know slagharen is the 3rd most-visited park in the Netherlands? Just behind Efteling (ofcourse) and Duinrell

I just noticed...the cars on the Polyp have little tails! Never seen that before.
The cars are themed as bulls.
@14:36. I'm not surprised. Speaking from experience I imagine there are also quite a few people who are staying on a camping somewhere within 50 km from the park. And well, up at nine / ten, breakfast, shower, travelling... before you know it it's twelve o'clock.

The little Cabins are too cute...reminds me of the wilderness lodge cabins...but those are so far from any of the WDW parks. I would love to stay at a place like this!!
@20:18 wooden lodge. We call that. with a French word, 'chalet' in Dutch. Straightly imported from Swiss, I guess. But that's also an English word. So yeah.
Hi shawn and Charlotte really nice to see you both . This park looks really good very enjoyable to watch. I was supposed to be going to Orlando florida in September for my 50th birthday. But due to covid 19 I'm now unable to go 😢 was going to Disney world and universal studio's for the 1st time ever. I am now postponing it probably until 2022 . Loving your rode trip I always enjoy them so much. Thankyou for sharing this with us. Love to you both xxx

Fun fact, the tomahawk is a huss trojca and in a way is the small version of the huss condor (same ride family) there also was the Tri star the went up in an angle like a enterprise (but not as steep)

It’s great to be back
i have been to this park so so much when i was younger. live pretty close to it. think 40 minutes drive with the car. but it used to be a pony park. you could ride horses feet the ponys you name it. but they removed it later on not sure exactly why. but it used to be called pony park slagharen. now its just called slagharen. you had cowboy shows as well but obviously they all have changed that over the years. but i havnt been at this park for a long time. but its a fun park from what i remember. they had a classic coaster as well named looping star was a fun coaster. believe germany got the same coaster at that time as well somewhere not sure where. but yeah this park was always alot of fun. you can sleep in Wigwams as well. not sure if they still have it over there. but we have rented those wigwams for a week when i was younger. yeah fun experience. not a bad park. and from the flog i see its still a fun park to visit.

We went on July 4th and rode all the coasters. They were fine and stayed on even on stealth.
Mine stayed on for stealth, nemesis Inferno, most of the swarm, all the flats but constantly kept coming off on saw and colossus, they are a bit noticable but wont take away much from the experience.
They stay on very well in our opinion

Looks like I'm going to be watching alot more vlogs from now on. Had both energylandia booked but that's not happening for obvious reasons and was going to towers with the sun superdays tickets but we missed a day and now they've moved onto legoland. 😢

Oh to explain why I like explaining our language... As I make radio nearly every week, I'm consistently pronouncing English artists and names as in English English. And I also still have to learn. Recently I found out I pronounced Deirdre wrong. For anyone who still doesn't know: long i, short i. Deerdree, but the latter ee shorter than the first... We all learn. And probably why Americans spell Sean or Séan as Shawn, ey?

Very nice vlog again. I believe Slagharen was looking to add a rapid river or a verkoma suspended family coaster, they were asking fans what they would prefer. So something to look forward to!

That drop towers almost gave me a heart attack, because they don’t give any clue of when you are going to be dropped.
btw, did you know that a lot of the flat rides are rides that used to appear at fairs. Even the coaster that Gold Rush, replaced, “Looping Star”, I think, was traveling across the country before it found its home at Slagharen.

Just what we wanted!
I visited this park with my family when I was 5 or 6 years old (i.e. more than 20 years ago). I harly remember anything, but we stayed in a Tipi and there were Ponys you could hire to ride around the park. I also remember the merry go round with the horses. I got very scared on that one >.< :D It's nice to see that the park is still doing well.

I know its optional to wear a mask in some parks. But then you return to the UK having potentially been exposed. Also you and Charlotte aren't social distancing now as you say you have joined a social bubble, however that's only for single adult households otherwise you still need to socially distance from each other.

@0:25 you're not entirely wrong about the end as in -en (un). It's an incredibly often used sound in Dutch. It signals both mulitples and verbs. jaren (yahrun) = years, but varen (vahrun) = faring / sailing. Also, varen (vahrun) = fern. wagen (wahghun) = wagon / car, but wegen (wayghun) = to weigh. Also wegen (wayghun) = ways. You can recognise Dutch by -en everywhere :).
Shawn nice vlog! You don't have to pronounce the "G" so hard and loud, that is only used in the northen parts of the country, in the south it's a soft "G".
