    Lot of reviews of this bike online here in North America for the FZ (same damn thing), but this is a GOOD review. and a proper chance to hear the bike ride by the camera with a pipe on it! Thanks, and HAPPY RIDING! I'll be getting myself one of these between now and soon!

    This was the best color that the MT-07 came in. Hopefully something similar comes back.

    Bill hits all the nails right on the head regarding this mt07, as well as the whole MT (FZ) line up. Now the Tracer too. Bang on Yamaha ! As other posters have said, great review ! Covered everything, good noise levels, including exhaust ! Good camera positions. New subscriber here in Canada !

      Slack Jicholson Hi - Yes the currency used is South African Rands. The show is actually broadcast on Television throughout Africa so the commentary refers to local currency. One pound is around seventeen rands at the moment. Dave Petersen

      Its currently £5800 and R109 000 in South Africa with 1 pound at about R21,50 the price isn't too bad for me living in the UK now not sure if they come with ABS in SA but the difference still isn't quite as big as some of the other bikes. So I think I'm happy to buy one here

      So we're supposed to google the secret test track called 'crooglesdor' where ever the fuck that is, and then find out what the currency is there on the off chance thats the currency he's referring to ??

    Got one, can't recommend enough coming from a super bike it is perfect for what I need it for city riding. Torque everywhere and with the right exhaust sounds like a V8

    I really liked the standing start in 6th gear up hill.
    Very cool review, although since is isn't stock you really don't know how much power has been added.

    Actually the cross-plane (aka 270 deg) crank was first used by Yamaha on their XS-650/750 based AMA Grand National dirt track bikes during the 1970's.
    As I recall, Kenny Roberts won a couple of National Championships on them. And savvy street-trackers these days have their cranks re-phased the same way.

    can I ride the Mt 07 on the high way for distances like 70 to 100km

    • @Billy-wb2op
      @Billy-wb2op 8 років тому +6

      I have been driving this bike for quite some time. From time to time I travel like 80 km on the highway at 130 km/h, probably a bit faster, but that's the speed limit. I haven't noticed any discomfort at all times. Okay, when you're driving 160 and it's quite windy, the wind is pushing quite firmly against you. But on a normal day at a normal speed it's pretty doable to drive on the highway, I find it more comfortable then driving a racer.
      But the bike is a real beast for driving curvy roads at high speeds. The bike is extremely maneuverable and very light. It has a high torque as said in the vid and this all combined makes the bike so much fun to drive. I definitely recommend everyone to buy it.
      The only downside to the bike is that it has not so much power from 120 and up. But I haven't really felt like that I missed that.
      Hope this helped. Peace out.

  • @kaveiros75
    @kaveiros75 8 років тому

    All nice about the torque and wheelies... but how does the bike actually handles in twisty roads? I have ridden one for a short time, but only within city limits.

    • @sirlightyearchannel
      @sirlightyearchannel 8 років тому +1

      +kaveiros75 the suspension needs to be upgraded. But I definitely enjoy twisties anyway. It is very light and nimble

    • @kaveiros75
      @kaveiros75 8 років тому

      Sir Lightyear Thanks for the reply. I take it that stock suspension will initially be OK, then. I should upgrade it sometime, but I wouldn 't like it to have such an expense right after I buy the bike.

    • @sirlightyearchannel
      @sirlightyearchannel 8 років тому +1

      I have ridden my bike for a year now. I had loads of fun on it. So no, you don't need it initially. This winter I bought fork preload adjusters (about 30 USD on eBay) and installed them so that I can adjust the sag for my weight both on the rear and front suspension. I will be able to test it in about two weeks.

    Great video! Thanks for all the useful information, I wanted to know the Dyno info and 1/4 mile time for this bike. I can't be lev it ran in the 11s! I want this bike!

    • @ylism
      @ylism 10 років тому +1

      Of the dragstrip 1/4 mile runs, his is over a second faster, but most of the others way over revved the motor, this motor dies after around 8,500 rpm, then drops to 20 hp so a big drop after, and still revving to 10,K +, so it's best not to over rev this one.
      Yamaha has told all independ magazines not to do just what he did and said, 1/4 mile & dyno numbers. Just for info, most dynos say 65 to 66 HP, and the SFV650 @ 68+hp higher up, but much lower power under the curve, than the bike he has.
      Note# This bike has, like he said a Arrow exhaust system as well, w-no cat, and even lower weight, so that also could raise the HP numbers a little ?
      BTW they had the New Honda cbr650f, and the Ninja650 to. I think it was the truest dyno test, that I have seen, and it's not on youtube. There is a FZ-07 on youtube, but it shows 69 hp, and after remap 73 hp ? ..yl

      considering I ran a 11.8 second 1/4 mile in 1965 on my Triumph 650cc TT special, I would assume this bike capable of low 11s, or why bother. No one seems to know how to do a proper drag start theses days, Ya gotta come out wheel spinnin.
