I was travelling for work and forgot my toiletries bag at home. Went to the little convenience shop at the hotel and the only razor in stock was a Gilette. I walked 20min in the cold rain to go to the nearby Walgreens to buy a different brand. That's how powerful this ad was, I will literally go out of my way to not purchase their brand again
I had only ever used Gilette since I first started shaving. Switched to a safety razor the day of the ad, and, honestly, it's so much better. I wish they'd have run a terrible ad sooner!
I hate that the old ads are supposed to display "toxic masculinity", but they just show a bunch of men working hard, loving their women, and engaging with their little babies and children. The only thing toxic here is the idea that a man working hard and caring for his family is toxic. Also, we haven't bought a single gillette product since this ad came out.
@@thekaiser3815Just like how it's depicted in 1984. The powers that be hated love and relationships so much that they conditioned sex into something that would disgust the public.
The old ads represent everything the Left hates, ie. masculine men, feminine women, the intact nuclear family, health and happiness. Instead they promote ugliness and degeneracy.
Gilette: "Roughhousing and developing your strengths is bad." Future woman: "Why did my boyfriend freeze up when that man slapped my arse?" Gilette: "Having confidence and approaching women is bad." Future woman: "Why don't men approach me?"
The fact that no executive at Gillette spoke up and said “guys…this might be a bad idea you know? We might alienate our entire customer base” is astonishing
Because it isn't a strategy to make sales. It's a strategy to brainwash the audience. This isn't a secret. Larry Fink, the man who ordered this commercial, is on record saying it. Change has to be ''forced'', he says. He says people will not naturally gravitate towards stuff like the LGBT, environment, politics, etc. It has to be ''forced''. And ESG, which is what paid Gillette for this commercial, is their means of forcing that change. It saddens me to still see people deluded enough to think this is about money. These guys lose billions to in some rare cases trillions annually. Why do you think the past decade has seen such absurd inflation? They're money printing like crazy to compensate for their losses. Losses suffered in their attempt to indoctrinate the people, with moderate success.
It's not about profit any more. It's about ideology.... Ideology of HATE. Gillette is proud to hate their own customers... they even hate old Gillette, they hate it openly and with passion. Exactly the same as media corporations like Disney - fanticaly hating everything about old Disney. These Woke Cult corporations are not just normal corporations , they are truly eviI, demonic entities.
That’s because this is how corporate America works. When the bossy woman or other golden goose of diversity speaks, all the white guys are forced to listen and comply like puppy dogs because of the culture of fear and hostility this diversity BS has created.
As someone who used to work in P&G's worldwide ad agency making ads for them, I can confirm that P&G market researched the HECK out of each second of the ad (via storyboards, animatics) before we even shot a single second on tape. Every single second of this ad was meticulously crafted just as stated in the video.
The worst part of the gillete commercial imo is the implication that roughhousing is bad. It's proven that roughhousing or "rough and tumble play" is vital to the mental and social development of children including females. It is completely natural and healthy behavior which has unique benefits which cannot be obtained any other way. But lets just forget all that and ruin our children for "feminsm"
Yes, it's called "healthy aggression". I train kids, teenagers and young adults in a physically demanding sport, and one of the mothers involved with my organisation is a child psychologist with many years of experience treating "unhealthy aggression."
You’re acting like they aren’t intentionally trying to sabotage the next generation. Why do you think they’re exposing them to pornography and transgenderism in schools?Their master is Satan and they’re doing his bidding.
Why do you think since 30 years ago, women are so successful in school and higher studies?? They forbid boys from being boys, because "it's upsetting" to some people, who probably don't have any kids and won't have any kids either, the system is rigged against boys, why do you think, that in almost all big movies from the last few years, men in general and white men in particular are portrayed as incompetent and toxic?? And it's particularly true for movies and series aimed at a younger audience. I hope I'm not the only one who sees it.
Toxic masculinity in 80s/90s Gillette ads: • monogamy • loving your children • looking after your children • teaching your children • loving your family • striving to achieve your potential
I was PAINFULLY shy around girls in high school despite being athletic and good looking. I remember one girl who was quite loose coming over to me while I was sitting alone in the corner not talking to anyone and she started shaking her ass in my face say "you want this" "you want this" to fuck with me. Another time I was asked by another if I was gay because apparently being afraid to talk to girls is a telling sign of homosexuality. I mean cmon we all have seen gay men timid to talk to women right? All of their friends are women! LOL F*CK YOU GILLETTE
I remember when this ad came out back in 2019...someone commented on the video saying "my wife's son loved this." Gillette pinned the comment and loved it...totally not getting the joke! That's how cut off from reality they are...
I'm impressed that this ad was chosen for anaysis, given that the attention and interest for these things tend to die off within a year, never mind five.
@@optiquemusic6204 I heard far too many people say, “I thought the ad was fine”. While the interest may be gone, an analysis like this is good for exposing the messaging it’s pushing for future awareness.
Because it's been around forever, all they have to do is wait a bit when they mess up and they'll likely rebound. The older a franchise is, the harder it is to fail, as it has a lot more investments to work with as pitfalls before their actual fall.
The Gillette commercial actually did wake me up. It was at the moment I realized that the MSM really was attacking masculinity. I’ve honestly not purchased a Gillette product since
Like a sledgehammer moment. When you realise all is not well and you start to look at things through a different lense. It was The Force Awakens for me.
Same here. I switched to Harry's (since gone woke), but will move to a different brand once I've used-up those blades. I don't need to buy blades from woke cultists.
@@FunPicardjust use a straight razor. That's what's I do. It's more satisfying anyway. Once you get a good edge on it (pay someone if you need to) just strop it a little every time. Feminists are universally ugly, fat, single in their mid 30s, childless, miserable, depressed, on five different medications, don’t have good hygiene and are overall a pain to be around. I’m not even exaggerating, I can tell who the feminists are by sight at this point, and they’re all like they came from some assembly line, no matter the country. So why on Earth would such people’s opinions have any impact whatsoever?
The Bud Light marketing director at 3:10 is so clearly evil to me. She has that concentrated background of children's drawings behind her because she wants to apply emotional leverage to anyone that disagrees with her. I've seen her ilk in every HR department.
One of the things that brings me great joy about the boycott is seeing large volumes of Gillette products in dollar stores as they are still trying to figure out what to do with all the now unsellable goods.
As a woman, I used to buy the female line “Venus”. Haven’t bought any since this ad. They insulted my nephews, brother, uncles, cousins, brother in law and most importantly my father. Men are awesome.

16:32 - The fact that the mom is the only "body positive" woman in the commercial and all the career women are fit also says a lot about what Gillette thinks about motherhood.
When I turned 18 and registered for Selective Service, Gillette sent me a really nice razor thanking me for doing my civic duty. I thought this was so cool that I was happy to buy Gillette products for years. THAT is a good marketing campaign. I was equally happy to stop buying their products when this ad campaign started.
I remember the casting process for this. A few people I knew went for roles in the boardroom. Black and Asian guys. None of them got the gig. When you look at the ethnic breakdown of the sequence, you can understand why.

Old commercial: "Take care of yourself. Raise a family. Be happy!" New commercial: "Flagellate yourself because it's become culturally acceptable for us to hate you for your intrinsic characteristics!"
I don't think having abusive tendecies toward any human being born in a female body is an intrinsic charasteric. It is more a culture induced thing. A Toxic culture induced thing.
Something else you can notice is that in the entire commercial, every single man depicted as "toxic" is white except one, and every man depicted as "reformed", "regretful" or "better" is non-white except one. It's WAY too obvious casting to be statistically insignificant, it's 100% on purpose.
That old commercial showed you, that you can be whatever you want to be. A caring and loving father, son and husband, fun friend, great at your job and hobbies... what the hell is wrong with that?!
Yeah, and you hurt American workers who hated the commercial too. Don't be too quick to react, think about who you are actually hurting. The people at the top, who push WOKE (See: Marxism) are not their to make society better, they are there to tear society down. I loved this advert. I show it to my twin sons, repeatedly chanting "Boys will be boys" on a loop as they savagely battle for the one BBQ burger for the day. Apparently that's illegal but, as the judge was about to hand out my sentence, I placed my hand on her shoulder and informed her of what she meant to say. In the following prison time, my cellmate demanded I use his Gillette shiv to make myself presentable in the showers for the other inmates (and Billy Eichner), who insisted I was about to receive the Best A Man Can Get. Progress people. Progress.

The only thing that these ads teach me is the way people use images to subliminally make people think what they want for nefarious purposes. Honestly it helps me a lot to write evil propaganda for my story. And your breakdowns are simply amazing!
As someone that loves history of propaganda and advertising it is definitelly an interesting experience to see how they can trick the audience towards whatever they want the audience to think.
That "boys will be boys" thing after the boys wrestling around just kills me. I was almost a full blown girly girl and still played rough and wrestled with friends/siblings. It's a child thing. Lmao This commercial was wild. Can't believe I never saw it. 🤦
Men and boys are aggressive. Their bonds are formed in conflict. What men and dads need to do is ensure that they cultivate that aggression in a positive way, take your son to the gym, teach him about aggression and self control, teach him how to be a protector. Kids suck because parents failed; as a father, I aim to raise my boys properly so that they are kind, strong, brave, discerning, wise, and protective.
@@chazzitz-wh4lyI'm a man but I'm pretty docile when it comes to physicality. I'm only aggressive in the sense that I'm disagreeable and argumentative. But I agree that bonds can be formed out of conflict. I often find that I can relate and even respect the people I'm verbally abusing and I realize we don't have to be enemies.
Years ago, in the 90’s, I had a feminist roommate. One day she said, “All male bonding leads to violence against women”. I’m still stunned that she firmly believed that, no matter how many scenarios I gave her, like what about 2 Buddhist monks having breakfast? Yes, all male bonding, she said. That’s feminism my friends.

It's amazing how sexless they want society to be, especially when they consider women doing sexwork to be empowering. But I guess it makes sense in a twisted way. The accepted sexual outlets are the soulless options of onlyfans and prostitutes, because anything that inspires actual passion (meant in the broad sense, not just romantic/sexual) is something that could cause you to act against the system in defense/pursuit of it.
I mean I suppose it's empowering in a way where a woman earns her money on her own terms. How she does it as long as it's legal and only affects herself is her business but as long as they don't encourage it as the go-to option as a first, it's really nobody's problem. The only reason this society was ever sexless in the first place was because of religious nutjobs and nosey conservatives getting in the way but now that ppl are seeing all the hypocrisy and bs coming out of religious organizations it made them more free to openly sexually express themselves without feeling ashamed of it.
@@MSpotatoes I meant in terms of actual sex, not sexualization. Sexualization will increase, but more and more people will find themselves single/sexless
as a little boy i was bullied and spat on by a group of older girls, i remember this well because i was crying the whole way home until my mother comforted me
Yeah it happens by both groups. I got dragged across my stomach in kindergarten by a group until it tore up my shirt and skin. I was by myself in the restroom and the one person that gave me comfort was a girl though and she genuinely felt bad and she wasn't even supposed to be in there with me but her empathy was strong enough to not care about it and helped me anyway. She had tears in her eyes just looking at me like that bleeding all over. I wish I could remember her name because that was one ofbthe nicest things someone my own age had done for me. She may have even been in the group that did that to me but I don't think so and even if true I don't think they knew what they were doing because our age was so young. Fun fact: children who don't engage in rough and tumble play are horrible at learning physical boundaries and developing empathy. It's entirely natural. Even in the animal kingdom, young cubs wrestle each other in what's called a 'play' fashion to also learn boundaries and to practice hunting. I absolutely loathe every woke company with their asinine views of the world.
Amazing how they thought this was a good idea. I was a Gillette customer probably for life since they sent me a razor in the mail when I turned 18 and I remember thinking “wow” they were thinking about me and becoming a adult and they had me forever or so they thought. Once this ad dropped I threw it away after having that razor for over 20 years. I’ll never buy a Gillette again. Also now that my son is at the age of shaving I went out of my way to discourage him using Gillette.

I haven’t seen that original Gillette advert for decades. It brought back so many positive and happy memories. When I saw it as a kid it was very inspiring. I feel so sorry for young lads these days, they don’t stand a chance.
Agreed. Recently, I learned that the TV show "Diff'rent Strokes" is now considered racist. Seriously? It was a show about black and white families merging.
it really is like being given a second-class citizenship. put last on the lists for job applications, put last on the list for promotions, put last on the list for scholarships, excluded from stem programs, given lower grades than girls in school, treated like sex offenders in grade school without even doing anything, scolded and punished quicker, given higher sentences in the justice system, viewed with more suspicion by police. and on top of that, women and girls get to verbally and physically bully and abuse us, and if we dare say anything back then were "incels, crybabies, misogynists".
tbh girls mostly get bullied by other girls and boys get bullied by other boys, I'm pretty sure many women (& men) can relate to this since people from same sex at times can understand each other while at the same time have there own egos about one another
The fascinating thing is the different ways the sexes bully. Males are mostly physical bullying. Females are mostly verbal and emotional. I would much choose physical over the other two.
We are in the age of "you're a piece of sh!t, buy our product to absolve yourself" commercials. I'm unsure how they thought this would work on any level. This "movement" already has consequences because women are now complaining there "are no stoic men with values that aren't conservative". They really think that telling all men "leave women alone" won't end up with them not being able to get married because their mind-bendingly stupid logic. You can tell this ad was done by women because no man would put this out as "the truth". I'm so glad I'm happily married to an amazing woman, otherwise, I wouldn't bother. Whenever I usually see this type of misandry, I usually wonder, "Who hurt you?" "What male figure let you down?" Or more to the point... What's the real issue (usually mental) that's bothering you? This level of hatred for men is so off the charts that isn't doesn't have any bearing in reality. It's almost on par with Incel hatred for women and couples. I just ask what is wrong with these people. I have to admit that men in the past and at times haven't been the best to women. But this is on far with "Birth of a Nation." I just see this or comments along the same wavelength (with either gender saying about the other) and know this person isn't sane.
It is fashionable to stir up a reaction to your product. Any reaction sets the net buzzing and idiot managers look at the view count and think the advert is working. In the real world it tanks your company FOREVER.
I'd argue that it's worse than the incel philosophy of misogyny because it has reached the mainstream sphere. Not to mention the accompanying real world misandry such as discriminatory hiring practices, college admissions, and the court systems. The Gillette ad was a nuclear bomb for their reputation and sales in the northern hemisphere. One interesting thing about it is that in Latin america (I live in Peru), that comercial was NEVER aired in any media, it wasn't even translated to spanish/portuguese or adapted for the local market. Here Gillette kept their sales using local good looking men and local professional sports figures ( soccer and tennis players mainly) Also the commercial didn't appeared in the Gillette Latin America UA-cam channel at the time.
They do that a lot. Compare McDonald's ads that americans get with the McDs we get overseas, like that cartoon ad showing a cute family having fun. Basically those jokesters use the foreign market as a lifesupport system for their propaganda aimed at the west.
It's drank way less by younger generations than older ones. They are (were?) correct that they should have been trying to do something, but they went about it in an extremely stupid way.
I must have missed that line. But not only has Bud Light's decline only been recent, but its recency is part of why it is so significant. Budweiser stepped in it, the #1 beer in America fell off a cliff.

I think the most ironic part of having Terry Crews in the commercial was that the kinds of people who liked the ad would have been people who would've berated Crews when he tried to speak out about his own abuse during MeToo. The guy is a genuine person and they're just trying to use that clip of him in a way that's honestly just awful.
I took a break from binge watching the TV show Succession to view this because I couldn't get enough of watching men being portrayed as toxic, stupid, power-loving, narcissists. I think you've missed some of the symbolism of opening "close up face half in shadow". I believe it's trying to make the point that all men have a dark side that's hidden from view, as well as the "light" side they present to the public.
That was quite the in-debt analysis. A point missed by the new campaign appears to be that in the old "toxic" ads, women loved their men. It was basically: you do well and you shave, then you get a kiss by the one who loves you.

Most women have to not only shave their body but also have a job, clean the house, cook for everyone, do the dishes, do laundry, do the shopping, take care of kids, pets and plants, style their hair and do make up every day. Not even mentioning periods. I applaud women who are enjoying their life and don't care if it's harder than a man's life, that's the healthiest attitude. Doesn't change the fact that a man's life is 100 times easier than a woman's life in the same financial and social situation.
As a nerd at school, the kindest classmates were jocks. Yep, the boys who were the kindest were the ones who channelled masculinity. The worst boys were usually the ones who seemed to lack masculinity.

I got to say, I'm loving the comments section on this video. So many women standing up for truth against this Gilette hit-piece. We're proud and we thank you.
You deserve more subs, the humor is always so on point, the bit about the shirt the pool jock was wearing and your corpse had me doubled over in laughter.
The old Gilette adverts were great. The music was fab and the shots were epic. Thanks for another hilarious video, Despot. I love how you notice symbolism and subliminal messages in things.
I'm 54.When I was 12 or 13 some of us(many who actually worked physically, here in the midwest ) often wore TANK TOPs although we were not allowed in school unless we were in sports participation. I will never bow to the idea that we shouldn't expose our arms to the world .I am above average body type and is not to brag but I as a confident male I am equally comfortable to wear what the F ever I want. I will always own a wife beater even though I've been the one on the end of violence in several abusive relationships, one was my wife who I did everything for ,I have never been the Agressor_NEVER.My proper mother taught me right. I have spent a great deal of my life with NO shirt. I've been cat called by toxic females many times. That last statement was true but just to add some more sarcasm to the frame work. Gillette lost a customer of nearly half a century. Gotta go try to find one thing on WokeFlix I can stomach...ONE. Ive been watching nearly exclusively foreign movies and show. To invoke "Triumph of the will and 1984"...Despot sir it's obvious you are not F'n around. Like always all I can say is I AGREE
I noticed that too. The wifebeater trope started getting rammed down my throat by scrawny armed men who id now consider narcissists. Makes sense, I usually have nice muscles to show for all my hard work so it makes sense narcissists would come up with ways to shame me into covering up. The irony is that these same narcs are habitual women abusers.
Just one little addition- The Hypocrisy of 'The Male Gaze' has been going on a LONG time. Nearly 30 years ago, in the fall of 1993, when I was in College, our Dorm had its own workout room. Most days, after class, I would spend a couple hours exercising. At times the room would get fairly warm, because of the heat pipes that ran through it & I would often take off my shirt to be more comfortable. One night I finished my workout & on leaving the room came within an inch of colliding with a young woman. As soon as she saw me, her eyes went dinner-plate wide & she exclaimed, "Oh my God! You're HUGE!" Clearly meant as a compliment, I accepted it & left. But later as I thought about it, even then, three decades ago, I thought about what would have happened if the situation had been reversed. If I had exclaimed how hot some girl was that I nearly bumped into. In days my reputation as a creepy lecher would have been cemented in stone. In the CURRENT era, I might even end up getting expelled. I want to believe that most people know better than the kind of propaganda displayed in this ad, but the fact is, my Wife, who, when I married her 15 years ago, was a Smart, non-feminist lady, is now completely Woke. Despite not actually changing, I have gone from a Man she thought a great deal of, to a 'Selfish, Betraying, Sexist, Racist, Transphobe, Nazi.' Still, thanks for putting this analysis out there. I hope it helps someone, somewhere.
I actually noticed that one day watching The Price is Right years ago. A winning female contestant went over to the male model James (before Devin joined, I believe) and said while the tape was rolling "You're hot." My immediate thoughts went to "No man would ever be allowed to say that on tape to any of the female models."
@@randomuruk7230 I've been dealing with Chronic Pain due to inoperable spinal damage since 1993 (I'm 53). When we married in 2008, she said she could deal with that, but the worse it got, the more she resented me. That's why she created this whole narrative of what a horrible person I am. Because it would be too hard for her to just admit she can't handle having a disabled husband. So, for years I've been waiting for her to kick me to the curb. Why she didn't do it earlier, I have no idea. (It wasn't 'love', without question.) But she finally said she wanted a divorce this past September. I would have left myself, a long time ago, but I am so disabled I should have been in an assisted living facility since 2017. So, I am trapped here until some resolution comes.
@@randomuruk7230 Well, that's a large complicated issue. I've been dealing with Chronic Pain since that same year (1993). In 2008, I married the woman who is still technically my Wife. My condition was finally discovered 20 years after first experiencing it, in 2013. (Inoperable Spinal Damage) Because I could not meet my Wife's financial or ah, 'Intimate' wants, she became angry and resentful. In 2014 she decided she'd had enough of my 'Self-centeredness' & that was the last time we intimate in ANY sense of the word. She did not divorce me then, but her resentment only grew, until she had this narrative of what a horrible person I am complete in her head. I have needed to be in an assisted living facility since 2017, but it wasn't until September, 2023, that she finally said she wanted a divorce. I am almost totally disabled at this point, I am totally dependent on her & even though she is in the top 7% of US Wage Earners, the fact I cannot 'provide' for her is too much for her to stand.
It's late October 2023 as of this writing. We have _still not bought a single Gillette product_ , which includes its female oriented products for my wife.
This video reminded me of how Captain America: The First Avenger is such a good film. It's so earnest and old-fashioned in its themes, it would be called toxic and canceled nowadays.
Ironically Harry’s razors is equally as woke as Gillette. I assume most of your viewers are familiar with the daily wires boss Jeremy Boreing who has his own brand razors. I don’t know if they’re available in the UK but anyone who hasn’t seen the advert - you’re in for a treat
EXACTLY, though it is NOT ironic, it is simply something people need to realize, this is not a bottom up phenomenon, it is a top down. When you boycott these businesses all you do is harm the workers, NOT the owners, they want to destroy these companies. Research what they did to SEARS for a primer.
@@tomt4822 "All you do is harm the workers." Clearly you missed the part about the economic impact on the company? You have no idea what harm was done to the owners and shareholders because that isn't public information. The financial and legal implications are very serious. Never be fooled by the smokescreen that Bud Light also tried with the whole "oh, it's the public's fault we're going to have to lay people off." No, it isn't. The fault lies with the creation of the marketing campaign period. The public are free to CHOOSE whether they purchase products or not. There is no ethical obligation to keep doing so, especially in the face of outright verbal abuse from the company.
I actually want to see a reaction from feminists about the old gillette ads and lets see what they're opinions are on that, if they really think that's "toxic masculinity" than it proves they're not doing any good for men and women and have no understanding what a respectful man is.
They'll tell you those men are toxic, then the first chance they get, they'll get under one and scream "Harder, Daddy" till the windows shatter. They're all alike.
I was a life long Gillette (P&G)customer, Also a life long Old Spice (P&G) customer… I have not purchased a single Proctor&Gamble (P&G) product since the commercial came out, not a single personal hygiene product of gyros, not a single drop of or item of cleaning supplies, no laundry detergent, no floor cleaning, no dish soap, not a single damn P&G product.
Personally I think her words were an attempt at a self fulfilling prophecy. I'm not American, nor do I drink beer, but I've heard that Budlight was the top brand in the States BEFORE that marketing campaign. Also, I kept hearing about "Mc.Carthyism" so I went and looked it up. And, in all honesty considering the current state of the West...can you say it was really just a "scare"?
Everyone McCarthy accused of being a communist was later revealed to be a communist. He _underestimated_ how many communists had infiltrated American institutions.
McCarthyism was right. the problem was how it was carried out violated the constitution badly. Still people WERE communist agents trying to destroy america. They were communist spies and agitators. And they were real. Most on the dole of the soviet union. Hollywood loves McCarthyism, because they like to talk about censorship and how "wrongfully" persecuted they were... yet most of the communists unearthed in hollywood were actual soviet spies. so it's not like the accusations were wrong. Never forget that. as horrifying as mccarthyism was for violating american civil rights, he did find an awful lot of actual communist agents of the soviet union. So it wasn't really a "red scare" so much as a red problem... just the solution was wrong.
@@tsaralexis9459 Oh I don't know...the weaponization of the youth...sounds VAGUELY similar to what great leap forward in China. The changing of words to suit new meanings. The turning of different groups against one another, encouraging them to view themselves as oppressed. Media, except for a few outliers that get demonized, all on the same page and reporting almost word for word similar. Yeah...I can't see any kind of communist influence in America. And, just an fyi, I'm on the outside looking in, since I'm not an American.
13:25 the odd part is that no, in reality it’s often homes with neglectful or absent fathers that produce bullies, but if we acknowledge that fact it starts to shine a light on where “toxic masculinity” really comes from.
I had been a "faithful" Gillette consumer for over 20 years, ever since young me grew a tiny bit of a stubble and my dad went with me to buy a razor and shaving cream, he picked Gillette products for me to use so I have just always used the brand since then, that is until that infamous ad came out. Now I go outof my way to pick some other products
As an advertising executive, I agree with uou completely. Every time I have had a company approach me with enviro/SJW/Woke content it fails and the company is out of business or massively damaged soon afterwards.
Guilette was unbelievably greedy with their razor prices to begin with. It was no real surprise when new companies Rose to challenge them with a more affordable product. Then they did this. I'll never buy another Gillette or Bud Light product again.
you are so misgauged. you think the owners of Bug Light or the workers at Bud Light paid for that nonsensical commercial, answer, the WORKERS. Bud was the number one beer, not any more. This is called deconstruction, and it is what they do when they are tearing down a society. So, don't be too gleeful about the destruction of another American company...They are doing the same to Disney.
Excellent analysis of the communicative strategy, as usual from The Despot. Like everyone else, I thought this ad was hateful, clumsy, and counterproductive, but I never stopped to think about WHY that was the case when other equally strident propaganda was less so. Again, spot on diagnosis of Gillette's and the director's total mishandling of the message. Do they just not teach marketing at Western universities anymore?
Thanks so much for taking up this issue..let us soak in and save this ad somewhere physically so that when Men's rights are enforced and the tyranny on Men is addressed then we can show this ad and claim punishment for the makers of this ❤
Honestly, I was waiting for Gillette to feature a trans "woman" with a beard using their products with the slogan, "The best that they can get." Comparing modern day wokeism to The Red Scare and the Salem Witch Trials was spot on. That's exactly how it comes off in the real world and people seldom get the high notes.
Close, they instead showed a mutilated young woman who’d been horribly exploited by the medical industry as a young teen girl shaving her woman-beard for the first time, one of many grotesque consequences of her youthful years spent injecting herself with highly damaging levels of chemicals her body doesn’t need to turn her into an equally grotesque shadow of what a woman raised in a disjointed society might think men look like. Sorry for all the run-ons, but it’s a nigh-impossible task to try and communicate the horrific implications and ramifications of gender ideology in a more succinct statement, as it’s really just a never-ending rabbit hole of increasing horrors. The ad was just as hideous, bleak looking, and gray as this poor young woman, her health, and her future are.
It’s interesting to see that so many other guys have the same story about being a Gillette customer. I was only 17 or 18 I’m now 21 and I too have never bought gillete crap since.
Time is money, i bet you enjoyed the exercise and putting your money with people who aren't trying to preach at you. Man of principles

The only ads I even remember was some guy with a buff looking face going oh yeah that's smooth. I dont even remember anything bad.

Gilette: "Roughhousing and developing your strengths is bad."
Future woman: "Why did my boyfriend freeze up when that man slapped my arse?"
Gilette: "Having confidence and approaching women is bad."
Future woman: "Why don't men approach me?"
It's almost like there is a coordinated effort to make western men weaker while importing immigrants at the same time. Hmmm.
"Future women" nothing. They're saying that stuff already.
Well to be fair, the modern feminism movement did most of that destruction already.
Future woman: *Ceases to exist because men are too busy drinking soy and watching soy-wars now to have children and be a father.*
Women: "Men need to open up more"
Men: **Opens up**
Women: "Ew. Why can't I find a real man?"
The fact that no executive at Gillette spoke up and said “guys…this might be a bad idea you know? We might alienate our entire customer base” is astonishing
Not a single light on in the entire house.
One or a few probably did, they’re not idiots and they knew their customer base. The agenda just won out in the end

Animal do it too. If a puppy is raised isolated from other puppies it becomes psychologically stunted.
I still miss rough housing with the lads in the army

I remember one girl who was quite loose coming over to me while I was sitting alone in the corner not talking to anyone and she started shaking her ass in my face say "you want this" "you want this" to fuck with me. Another time I was asked by another if I was gay because apparently being afraid to talk to girls is a telling sign of homosexuality. I mean cmon we all have seen gay men timid to talk to women right? All of their friends are women! LOL

The only thing that these ads teach me is the way people use images to subliminally make people think what they want for nefarious purposes. Honestly it helps me a lot to write evil propaganda for my story. And your breakdowns are simply amazing!
Thank you, glad I can help with your writing.
@MinecraftJesusGaming0 well i dont really publish anything its just a small hobby I do every once in a while 😅
As someone that loves history of propaganda and advertising it is definitelly an interesting experience to see how they can trick the audience towards whatever they want the audience to think.
That "boys will be boys" thing after the boys wrestling around just kills me.

This commercial was wild. Can't believe I never saw it. 🤦
They pulled it pretty quickly 😂
@lynnkayee1015
Ma'am women like you break the mold these idiots are trying to maintain. Hence why they limit rough housing to being "boys being boys."
@@sebaschan-uwu"respect the people I'm verbally abusing" Bro how does that work
Years ago, in the 90’s, I had a feminist roommate. One day she said, “All male bonding leads to violence against women”. I’m still stunned that she firmly believed that, no matter how many scenarios I gave her, like what about 2 Buddhist monks having breakfast? Yes, all male bonding, she said. That’s feminism my friends.
Modern so-called 'feminism' is an extremist, fanatical ideology of hate equally destructive for men and women, and for humanity in general. Part of bigger eviI cult commonly referred as Woke.
the director trying to dodge responsibility by blaming men "who were the real brains behind the operation" for the backlash to her garbage is just the *chef's kiss* muwahh perfect encapsulation of the modern female mind
It's men's fault. Says the empowered 'woman'
Secks workers get the 'special' vacuum procedure, so they're okay.
It's not sex they want to be rid of. In fact, the sexualization of everything will increase. What they don't want is families and procreation.
@@MSpotatoes I meant in terms of actual sex, not sexualization. Sexualization will increase, but more and more people will find themselves single/sexless
Just another tool for population control. Less manly men and less men building families and having kids.

i remember this well because i was crying the whole way home until my mother comforted me
Yeah it happens by both groups.
Anyways, I think about that girl wishing I knew her name but have love for that moment. I got to see both sides.

Actually used the theme for my wedding walking back up the isle with my wife!
Yeah I agree, we don't.
This stuff makes her more mad than me.

But this is on far with "Birth of a Nation."
I just see this or comments along the same wavelength (with either gender saying about the other) and know this person isn't sane.
It is fashionable to stir up a reaction to your product. Any reaction sets the net buzzing and idiot managers look at the view count and think the advert is working. In the real world it tanks your company FOREVER.
I think a lot of it boils down to 'missing fathers.'
I'd argue that it's worse than the incel philosophy of misogyny because it has reached the mainstream sphere. Not to mention the accompanying real world misandry such as discriminatory hiring practices, college admissions, and the court systems. Society no longer cares about equality of opportunity based on meritocracy, but rather what is between your legs and your skin color, going as far as to lower standards to accommodate diversity.
Not necessarily a male figure failing them. Some folks (like the writers of this commercial) are just petty jerks who like making folks miserable

Factually, Bud Light was the top-selling beer in the U.S. since 2001. How, then could it have been "in decline for a long time"?
Yeah, I'm not sure where they got their numbers considering Bud Light flowed like water during my time in college.
It's drank way less by younger generations than older ones. They are (were?) correct that they should have been trying to do something, but they went about it in an extremely stupid way.
It's like having a slow leak in a boat, so you punch large holes to get rid of the water
I must have missed that line. But not only has Bud Light's decline only been recent, but its recency is part of why it is so significant. Budweiser stepped in it, the #1 beer in America fell off a cliff.

@@randomuruk7230 Well, that's a large complicated issue. I've been dealing with Chronic Pain since that same year (1993). In 2008, I married the woman who is still technically my Wife.
My condition was finally discovered 20 years after first experiencing it, in 2013. (Inoperable Spinal Damage)
Because I could not meet my Wife's financial or ah, 'Intimate' wants, she became angry and resentful.
@@randomuruk7230Hope springs eternal.
"...the woman that recently turned Bud Light into a synonym for brand suicide"... very well phrased!
I love me Jeremy's razors
@@tomt4822Capitalism is pure democracy. We are free to boycott companies that hate us.
What is it with razor companies over the last couple years getting infiltrated by feminists and attacking their own customer base?
I actually want to see a reaction from feminists about the old gillette ads and lets see what they're opinions are on that, if they really think that's "toxic masculinity" than it proves they're not doing any good for men and women and have no understanding what a respectful man is.
They'll tell you those men are toxic, then the first chance they get, they'll get under one and scream "Harder, Daddy" till the windows shatter.
They're all alike.
I was a life long Gillette (P&G)customer, Also a life long Old Spice (P&G) customer…
I have not purchased a single Proctor&Gamble (P&G) product since the commercial came out, not a single personal hygiene product of gyros, not a single drop of or item of cleaning supplies, no laundry detergent, no floor cleaning, no dish soap, not a single damn P&G product.
You know, I don't think I have ever heard a man say, "Boys will be boys." It's always been older women who say it.
Yup. Female teachers too.
So it wasn't really a "red scare" so much as a red problem... just the solution was wrong.
tell me what fucking “communism” American is going through
@@tsaralexis9459 Oh I don't know...the weaponization of the youth...sounds VAGUELY similar to what great leap forward in China.
@@tsaralexis9459 The long march through the institutions, obviously.
Oh this brings back memories, I'm so glad that the company's burning
you are so misgauged. you think the owners of Bug Light or the workers at Bud Light paid for that nonsensical commercial, answer, the WORKERS.
No. They teach Gender and Critical Race Theory instead.
They made it exactly the way they wanted it...They likely think we don't 'get it'. They're losing money and popularity keeps me entertained lol
Probably not.
Thanks so much for taking up this issue..let us soak in and save this ad somewhere physically so that when Men's rights are enforced and the tyranny on Men is addressed then we can show this ad and claim punishment for the makers of this ❤
This genius piece of marketing has made me actively avoid buying all procter and gamble products. Truly the worst advertising a brand can get.
Honestly, I was waiting for Gillette to feature a trans "woman" with a beard using their products with the slogan, "The best that they can get."
Comparing modern day wokeism to The Red Scare and the Salem Witch Trials was spot on.
Dont forget McCarthyism
It’s interesting to see that so many other guys have the same story about being a Gillette customer. I was only 17 or 18 I’m now 21 and I too have never bought gillete crap since.
