The gshock 5000 and 5600 series are my all time favourite watches of all time. Something about their super humble, but elegant, tough design, that makes me fall in love everytime. Like Kikuo said "There is strength hidden in being elegant".

I've liked G-Shocks since I bought my first one in 1987. I wore out bands, damaged band pin sockets, ground big chunks out of the face, and lost them, but NEVER damaged one enough that it didn't work. I always have one, no matter what nicer watches I have. My current Wave Ceptor occasionally resets itself to Jan 1 2005, especially if it hasn't been worn for a while, but I wont replace it until I cant wear it.

What's interesting about Casio G-Shock is they totally dominate the digital watch market place with no competition.

Timex Ironman is incredibly poplar. The only thing that kills it is changing the battery.

Get one with tough solar, mine is a 5610, for 30 bucks more than a non-solar and you get atomic time too.
