- With the rise in popularity of certain cars, there is an influx of uneducated minds that lack the proper guidance to look after their newly acquired prized possessions in the manner that would lead to the greatest enjoyment and longevity.
But I digress, here are 5 things you are most likely doing wrong when you drive your E38 and you need to correct immediately!

E38 is simply a legend himself⚔️
💯
LMFAOOO illusion of choice had me rollin😂😂😂
You think you have the choice of drinking coffee in your car, you don’t lol
@@ARPerez hmm... I have this choice :D
@@ARPerez nice Matrix reference haha.
Also, NEVER use the map pockets on the back of the seats. The hinges will shatter even if you look at them too long
confirmed.
I am also a victim
Agree with most of these except lifting the bonnet/hood by the grills, which are as fragile as the cupholder. Lift by the metal above the headlight
love the content man
I laughed when you opened the hood by grabbing the grill. If I did that my cheap loose after market grills would pop right out. You need to lift the hood latch and then lift the hood from beneath the grills (grab metal). Great video and nice car.
Buy OEM!! All aftermarket grills are 💩
..bad idea to try lift the hood by the grill area guys !!.. why not try lifting the hood at end of it's front left side instead , right after you pop the front plastic release lever
lol Absolutely correct. I Broke my old OEM Kidney grill by doing the same thing.
The supports for the grille on the E38 are super weak, best not to touch them at all.
You got my subscription, bro! :) Now I am looking further for more E38 vids :p
So sastifying watching a car getting threated the right way 🤤👌
The way you explain how to treat an E38 is exactly how I park, close trunk, open hood. I knew that I was not weird, there are others like me in this world. I showed this to my wife and she said 'OMG another you'! I totally agree with everything you explained in your video. Thanks!
There’s nothing wrong with us, it’s others I don’t trust around my car 😎
Exactly, and don't jump start the car by the battery in the trunk. Do it with the terminals in the hood.
great coverage! awesome summary of cup holders
It’s true, all of it 🗣
this is great. thanks for posting
Thanks for taking the time to watch the video! I strive to stir the pot sometimes
Top and correct info from you for all drivers! You are the man! Thanks!!!
Yeah!!!! 🙏🏽
Nice tips. Look forward to more!
Great video, fun to watch 100% on point. I just replaced the rotten front seat bolster on mine. Much better now. The transmission thing, I thought it was only me who used the parking brake like that.
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Oldie but Goldie, worth the re watch, nice !
Love it Bro!!!
first time watching this video on this channel, I just found my self subscribing, enjoyed it so much, and looking forward to seeing even more, cheers man
Appreciate it man!!
Good work, totally agree.
Nice video, bro! 🙌
Fo sho, thanks man! 🙏🏽
Nice one buddy, thumb up! Love E38s!
Beautiful E38 and nice to see you are taking care of her. 👍
Thanks bro
You r the man! Great video!
And great how you treat a legend like the e38!
btw i have the bmw sign tattoed on my shoulder... so yeah. i love bmws ;-)
Hell yeah! Glad you liked it! Always gotta treat the finest executive saloon the best :)
I really enjoyed this. I think EXACTLY the same way you do about ALL that stuff! Love the like mindedness! A good laugh!
Awesome bro!
Wow man! Good video! Thanks a lot!
Thank you for watching and subscribing!!! 🙏🏽
@@ARPerez Thanks my friend for your content! I'm auto blogger too:)
Awesome tips
Very nice video!
I enjoyed it and send it to 2 of my friend.
Greets from Germany! 👍
Thanks 🙏🏽
Very good video and informative. 👍👍👍
I like your style, definitely agree with cup holder.
If you know you know!
Thanks for these handy tips, particularly the one about not putting the weight on the transmission while parked. Great thinking.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice advise 😊
You’ve made excellent remarks my friend about this car. Nice video! You’ve got another subscriber
Appreciate it man 🙏🏽
The cup holders part - hahahahahaha. I totally agree :)
Hermano! All said is so true. I own a 2001 E38 and everything cited is very true. Keep the vids coming.
Hey gracias man!!! 🙏🏽
AR Perez - what a lovely an informative piece on the 7-Series! Brilliant.
Glad you enjoyed it!
You guys across the Pond need to understand that German cars from that era (yes, Mercedes included) have perfectly fine cup holders that have been engineered to hold a cup of 30ml (1 oz) espresso and nothing more.
The idea behind it is that a driver, when driving, needs only 2 types of liquid - water for hydration (which the door pockets can comfortably fit a 500 ml. (17 oz) water bottle) and something to energize you, which in Europe is a shot of espresso by default - served in a small cup that fits perfectly in the cup holders.
Love it! Makes so much sense!
🤣 brilliant. Yes my front cup holders have broke as someone before me assumed they could hold drinks. Peasant! 👍
😁
This man is spitting facts
Great videos!
Thanks
I love this video, f**king amazing 😂👏
the cup holder bit, A plus 😂
🤣
Your hilarious, and absolutely right about everything great video
Glad you enjoyed!
Everything is spot on
I did all of these without anybody telling me :) Even my gf understands. I am just in love with my e39. However, I learned something new - that thing with parking with automatic transmission :)
Those cupholders are actually far better built than those in e39. I do not use them or if I do I only have a small coffee in them :D
And I like your passion for how you explain things. Keep going :)
I don't even have cupholders in my E46.
Hi Bro. You just gained another subscriber. The reason I am calling you bro is because I share the same passion for the best BMW 7 series ever made, the E38. I have almost identical Titansilber E38 740i with ACC which I have been restoring for a while. I love the way you have edited the video and your sense of humor. Looking forward to more content. By the way I have loads of content from my work as well. 🤝
Appreciate that bro, will check out your channel 🙏🏽
@@ARPerez Thanks. I have to say you have great sense of humor and you are very artistic. Keep up the good work and let's assemble the world's E38 army to save and preserve these beautiful cars as they are becoming more and more rare.
All of this is so true dude!!!!!
🫡
Another great vid - what spacers and coil^shock setup are you running? (looks perfect)
You know I’m not sure.. I think the PO upgraded to Bilstein shocks but I’m not sure what springs. I am planning on replacing the struts in the future
@@ARPerez thanks, am running 18" mpars with b8's on H&R stage 2's and definitely noticed better handling. But rear gap is a little small for me, may have to find some 19"s :)
Halirous.... Mad knowledge dropped here
E38 owner since 2003. Everything resonates. Respect!
🙏🏽
you are the MAN .... THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO TO LET PEOPLE KNOW THAT THERE IS CERTAIN THINGS AS AN OWNER YOU JUST DON'T DO. Much L0ve
I'm trying man, hopefully people get wise to how cool these cars are and the prices keep going up!
Gracias y de verdant te admiro
Explicas muy bien y todo lo que dices tienes razon .
ERES MUY CHINGON
Gracias
Muchas gracias amigo! Espero que te subscribas y continues apoyando al canal 🙏🏽
Lol, I like it when you say it sound like this...the facial gesture
Great video, this could be applied to any car.
Did this guy just call me a peasant? 🤣🤣🤣 I like this guy lol
Hahahaha....on the cup holder topic!
I’m just lucky mine is functional
Great video! Had some laughs. I enjoy how many of these parts are recycled plastic made from more recycled plastic.
BEBE!!! 👋🏽👋🏽👋🏽
i closed the trunk like you did for some months but with new dampers for the trunk you can just drop it and it will fall gently and use the soft close.
Thanks I didn’t know you have to engage the e brake before putting it in park!
you don't "have" to... but you know
I should tell my dad about the parking brake before putting it in park. Sure, he sometimes does it but he probably did it only like 5 times in the 3 years of ownership. He had to replace the transmission once already but he doesn't stand on hills so it's not too bad. Thanks for the tips!
Thanks for watching!
Sweet video
Thanks!
I actually use the cup holders front and back for things such as Starbucks and never had one spill. Great video, I had to take my entire family out and show them how to close the truck after I saw my wife slam it one day. One other thing I would add to stop doing to your e38 is Stop putting M Parallels on everyone of them. They all look the same and there are other options out there such as style 176 or style 92. Of all my cars my e38 remains my favourite. Going to check out the rest of your videos. Thanks for making them.
But M-Para are sooooo good 🤩
@@ARPerez haha yes they are and if I could find some cheap I would put them on mine for a while. I like them but so cool to see an e38 with something other than those.
M-parallels with the deep offset and staggered are truly gorgeous, they look so much bigger than 18 inch when on the car! However Ive seen E38’s with other wheels and if the offset is deep they look great too. I have M parallels on mine all 4 are 18x9 (technically 4 rears).
@@spaceexplorer6636 Rerars M pars dedicated for e38 are 9,5J, fronts are 8. 9J rears were in e34.
Do a video like this, even just once a month, and you could have 100k subs almost overnight. lol, great stuff.
Oh man thanks so much for the kind words! 🙏🏽
@@ARPerez I wish you would put more content like this , and by the way i have a good idea for you, try making a video like 5 things i like/dislike about my e38.
have also seen trunk/hood abuse, the BMW 800 number wasnt available for calling it in. Cupholders are for show only....if they still open/close, you're very lucky...NO drinks for you !!
You don't think he lets people get in his car eating food with a drink or sweets this is a very passionate owner....BMW first,,, peasants like us second. :-)
Love the parking method
I laughed so hard bro! 😂🤣😅😆 all so true! My friends wont dare touch my cupholders
thank u for infos with the Emergency brake......iam from switzerland
Greetings from California 🌴 👋
I'm subscribed 😂💖
Thanks Leslie!
Im getting aftermarket cupholders that replace the center ashtray, they also sell a replacement for the rear seat one if that one breaks. Kinda cool to see the aftermarket come out with fixes for this stuff. 3d printers help these little items to also be possible
The aftermarket for these cars is def. getting stronger and the prices are going up for now
Cool video.
i just bought a clean one a 98 145k 2500. its beautful. few minor issues but it may be the greatest car ever .
Yoo im your fan from Latvia !!!! I so wish i had e38 manual !!!but now i have boring e46 on automatic gearbox
Salutations from California, much love to Latvia!!
@@ARPerez Much love to California , my dream state.
This video made my day, I have both (A) long and a short 740i 2001 e38. I have been telling my girlfriend not to do all these things; but she will not listen. So I had to show her your video so she knows that someone else hates when these things are done to the car.
Right on! Tell her these are the rules, we didn’t make them, we just follow them :)
Excellent
Planin on getting one myself! They look sick on sum ac schnitzer or alpina wheels
I love alpina wheels but I'll probably end up getting a less "busy" wheel.
Thanks man for the tips. Am a new subscriber from UK. Please have a word with my wife about slamming my trunk door. Luckily enough she does not do it often. I own a year 2000 E38 740i and it's only done about 60K on the clock and I really love it!
A few months back I was heartbroken when I noticed that the plastic on the side of the drivers seat is now broken and coming off a little bit. I know it wasn't me that did it but I suspect that someone at the garage might have done it during a test drive.
60k!!!! That's amazing! I think you can replace the plastic piece, I've never tried, but if the seat is in good shape it's worth a shot. As for mine, it's already falling apart so I will end up replacing the entire seat.
@@ARPerez thanks buddy. Yeah I bought it for peanuts in 2013 at about 23K miles. It was used as a chauffeur car for a Japanese real estate company and used only a few times a year. Yesterday I learnt about the AVANT 4 Multimedia Navigation System for the first time and I love it. I think I will save for that before attending to the seat😀 I also lost my rear parking sensors a few months back but I am amazed that they lasted for 20 years!
Every time I close the trunk on my seventh, I remember your advice and basically just put the trunk lid down and gently press it down. Cheers fro Czech rep.
Much love, thanks!
"You think that this cup holder can hold more than 2 oz of any liquid?!?" You are a true BimmerGuy -- LOL!
Truth!
i marked out at that bit
I love the Alpina front lip. Love the car overall
Thanks! Love these cars, super comfy but also just enough power to keep it interesting.
The soft close trunk is on e32 and e39 too!
Bro, you woke me up. Thank you. Now my E38 should last longer than before.
Sweet!
No, no it won't. That is not true at all.
Good vid. Got a 2000 M sport I’m working on everything you say is true. Still think it’s the best looking car ever made
Speaking truth
Absolutely man! E38 are best of the best!
😅😊you are right about that ❤
The trunk lid should not just come down on its own weight even if gently guided down by a hand. That’s a good indication the struts have failed. You should be able to push the truck closed and if let go the lid should go back to fully open with properly working hydraulic struts. A good test is open the trunk fully and the with fingers start to close it. If it suddenly wants to slam shut there’s a problem. The soft close is just a nice feature to assist in matching the lid without having to forcefully engage it.
Hilarious 🤣😂😅 Best E38 video ever still dying🤣!
🙏🏽 🙏🏽 🙏🏽
Great vid, as a E38 2001 Sport owner I take car of it, it’s irreplaceable, nothing like it on the road.
I’ve been opening the hood wrong on my E38 for 11 years now SMH 🤦♂️ Cool video btw 🤘
😂 😂 😂
You forgot to mention that you don't need to turn the key in starting position to continue cranking starter. You need just flick it. And the computer will stop the starter on his own
Only on the V8 and V12 models, I'm fairly sure the 6 cylinder M52 Petrol and the diesel variants didn't do this.
Really? Wow! Will try after work. Thanks.
Awesome video bro, I want to buy 740i but in manual, very rare, cheers from Poland - German neighbour !
Very rare! Or just swap!
Hi, are you planning on going to the bimmer invasion in irwindale in September?
Haven't heard of it but I don't see why not! Are you?
I love it
I preach these 5 points :)
🙏🏽
not sure if this video is supposed to be a joke but that parking technique seems kinda helpful TBH
Finally somebody talked about how bad for the transmission it is to leave the car in Park on an uneven surface without pulling handbrake.
🙏🏽
Those little bump-stops on the trunk lid? If they break and don't spring anymore, even on one side, you will have soft-open issues where the trunk will open but since the spring did not push the truck deck up high enough the soft-close motor thinks it should close.
Such good advice. The 5 series wagon also has a motorized trunk lid. If your cup holder breaks and pops open, a nickel will hold it in the closed position. Another characteristic is that after ten years the seat belts will not recoil as strongly as they should. While you are fixing them, the B pillar fabric will come loose butcan be repaired using a plastic file from a finger nail kit without doing any damage. Just tuck it back into the rubber lip. If you drive fast, every four years, you will hear squeaking and chirping under the hood. It is the belt tensioner pulley. Change it immediately before it ceases. Also open the hood again and listen to the DISA VALVE. If it is noisy, replace it immediately. Under the hood should be dead quiet while the car is idle running, like mine!
You my friend are a grizzled veteran I see. Good to have your expertise in the comments. Everything you said is spot on, but the M62TU does not have a disa valve.
Definitely don’t use factory Cup holder for a E38, however there’s a guy on eBay that makes a sturdy cup holder that you insert into the non used compartment just in front of the armrest, I bought one and you get it color matched to wood trim and it really looks great and works perfect.
I have seen those, however I want to keep my car a food/drink free zone
@@ARPerez yeah! I agree absolutely no food in the car. I am however guilty of a hot coffee on a cold day, but super cautious that I don’t spill, knock on wood.
Can you please tell me where to buy them?
I like this guy 😆
My problem with seats - I'm not a tall girl :D But to got my "like" and "subscribe"! Thank you and waiting for new tips :)
My wife is 5' 2" and she loves driving my car. The seats do have extraordinary range.
subscribed, bro:))
🔥
Haha. Good stuff dude
Thanks bro!
in P dont bothers the transmission, its a block on the driveshaft
