We've used this griddler for a variety of items including steak, fish, vegetables ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxMcXT6_MuT0hB3ejyGQQHaeof9bwoWPUf and mushrooms and it's been great! Gets that great smokey flavor when using high heat or sear. The grill works amazingly simple and very low smoke for what it is. Heat gets up fairly quick, especially on closed position. The griddler side is fairly simple, better for eggs and pancakes rather than any cooking. Use the flat plates with the grill side if needed.Cleanup is easy and having heat on both sides is great for cooking a large amount or panini press. This definitely gets hot though so be careful with the sides.

Great video content as usual. I enjoy watching all of your videos. My usual method for Grease elimination is called the Raccoon 1000. I found if you leave pieces of bacon in the grease cup, our neighborhood bandits will steal said grease from the cup. Unfortunately the raccoons probably aren't very healthy with their diet of grease and bacon. But future plans include leaving some Lipitor pills for them as well.
I currently have the Blackstone 22," and I've wanted to upgrade to the 36". However, after watching both of your mod videos, I've decided I'm waiting for Blackstone or Camp Chef to incorporate your griddle scraper-sized grease chute into their design! Product Managers, I know y'all are watching these videos and reading these comments. :) Jeff, my jaw dropped when the timelapse video showed the griddle top warp as you were heating the front! I wasn't sure you could recover from that, but it looks great!
Ty Brian for commenting. I couldn't agree more that all of these companies should at some point figure out a good resolution for grease management. It has to be one of the top complaints besides rusting. I guess we will see. FYI, Campchef has been awesome to us. I definitely see them doing something in the future. Hopefully sooner than later. Just recently found your guys channel here on YT and I have to say that I had no idea that you could have these kinds of griddles. Great video guys. Loved watching Jeff master his way around the reconstruction of the griddle. Especially loved the large bottle of Evan Williams. But we all know that is for cooking, right Jeff?
Great job on the mods. The nice thing about being able to mod something to your personal preferences is that you end up with something no-one else has, and the result is usually one which gets you closer to your vision of what is ideal for your specific needs and desires. I see folks making comments about incorporating some of the ideas into a product line, but I'm going to place a vote against that. There are a lot of griddles on the market, and I went with Camp Chef specifically because it is like a restaurant griddle. I.e. not like cooking in a big shallow pan due to the wall in the front. While I understand the reason for putting one there, it would drive me mad, as my tool of choice is the standard 8" turner and trying to use it inside 4 walls would not be practical. Commercial griddles have kept the same design over the many decades they have been available for several reasons, not the least of which are ease-of-use and efficiency. Any mods I would consider truly valuable would be those which bring the home units closer to the commercial design. Your grease management mod is great and does just this. But I would personally prefer it at the front. Scraping grease with my other tool of choice, the baker's scraper, brings your hand closer to hot griddle surface. The less time your extended arm is near that heat, the better and more comfortable the cooking experience. Honestly, just widening the front drip edge by a couple of inches and a wider exit would be enough to alleviate most grease drip concerns.
Thanks for sharing, my wife & I, love the changes you made on the griddle great job, Are you guys High School buddies? I think we'd all have fun grilling playing cards & having a few cold beers nothing like it 👍 From your new friends here in Lima Peru George & Carmen

Entertaining video guys. Jeff you are quite the DIYer! I just got my FTG600 a short time ago. I actually like the grease tray up front. Griddles in diners and restaurants are like that. I do wish it was about an inch wider and the little downspout was a tad wider as well. But I love the griddle and am working through some of your recipes. Enjoy you guys and the fun you have. @@TheGriddleGuys I used the white version on my Cobra sidepipes. Would brown after the exhaust left the body and started into the muffler. Just painted it every year and it worked out. I think the black should be more stable.
17:00 - looks more rectangular than square. 😂 Sorry just being snarky, but actually a really nice mod! These companies need you guys on the design team for 2023 models. Or at least they should pay you if they use your ideas.
TGG’s, Great video and very creative solution. Hoping that if Blackstone or Campchef incorporate any of these mods that they give you credit :). Keep up the great work on the videos. Looking to seeing some amazing food being cooked on the new CC12,000!! Thanks, Jay V.
Jeff, love your mods so far. How does the Camp chef do in the wind compared to Blackstone? Always thought it was ridiculous they couldn't enclose the bottom more to shield the burners from the wind. Just a suggestion for your next mod.
Ty CampNut. So far so good. To be honest tho we just started using them recently. Probably a couple months now. We have been impressed so far. By design, they seem to handle the wind better than our OG blackstones. We have not tried any of the new blackstones tho. With the old one, I think the combination of the open bottom under the burners and the way the griddle plate sits on top of the Frame vs in it causes that low heat issue in the wind. They all seem to be getting better tho so hopefully that trend keeps up. Thanks again-J
Hey, Jeff. Season both sides of the flat top. Still have limited time with my hand-hammered flat top... but my carbon steel wok has never rusted on the fire side.
That looks fantastic!! Any advice on how to make the blackstone more efficient like you did? And how much would you charge for pieces that I myself don't know how to make but I install it myself? Cause now my blackstone wants to be the best!
Ty Markiie89. Unfortunately nothing is really easy with fixing all of our grease catch issues. Seems like every brand has their own issues. Our hope is that this video , along with our previous mod video gets popular enough that the major brands take notice. Fingers crossed and thanks again-J
Amazon. If you expand the description under the video there should be out amazon links. That should be one of them. It's worked out well so far. Cheers-J
I like the hole in the top but problen I see it may allow food to fall into it easier, especially like a stir fry, or loose ground meat as you move it around the grill top. However I thought you may wish to make a cap with a tab to pull it out over square ring with high side that fits inside the chute and above the griddle's surface that has smaller holes in the side that allow the grease to drain through, while cooking but not the food so much and is removable when you want to clean the surface of the griddle after the cook. Just a thought.
Ty Greg. I don't blame you.. Two things that made it a bit easier for me . 1-Campchef has been absolutely awesome to us with providing us these griddles with 0 asks besides them saying " just do what you do" 2- I still have an old but working originalBlackstone as a back up in case things went horribly wrong (50% chance). We really are liking these griddles. Good heat. Good looks.. Good stuff. Thanks again-J
Sadly they got better. Lol. I forget if I said it in this video or not but I 100% am not a welder. I am only a guy that bought a welder.😁. If I were to put a label on it I'd call myself a grinder more than a welder because I'm constantly grinding my welds to clean the up. Thanks for commenting and for the chuckle when I realized "EW". Cheers-J
Ty slawry2010. I have to admit, I still have not yet learned how to weld. If I did, I wouldn't spend 95% of my time grinding and re welding 😁. That being said, I Nate and his brother had a welder a long time ago as well as one of my other buddies had one too. I decided I just wanted a welder and bought one. Between watching and hanging with those 3 peeps I learned enough to at least stick two pieces of metal together. Thanks again-J
Really liked Modification 1- but love Modification 2. But I could only have Mod 2 if Camp Chef goes with the modification so I could buy it. Not capable of doing either of the mods. Awesome jobs on both griddles. Talented cooks and awesome engineers.
Looks good. The only issue I can see is with the hole being so big is that a little bit of food waist. Maybe a screen or vent cover over it that could be removed with a magnet.
I’m sure there was a LOT of grinding before you were finished. What I’m wondering is “how much Evan Williams is required for a project like this from start to finish?” Great job, a very practical mod. You are a truly creative dude…
I probably shouldn't do something like that either . Lol. It didn't hurt that Campchef was so awesome in providing us the griddles to cut up. A lot less risk. Thanks for commenting-J

@@TheGriddleGuys I used the white version on my Cobra sidepipes. Would brown after the exhaust left the body and started into the muffler. Just painted it every year and it worked out. I think the black should be more stable.
Can a similar mod be done on a Blackstone that already has the rear grease opening?
17:00 - looks more rectangular than square. 😂 Sorry just being snarky, but actually a really nice mod! These companies need you guys on the design team for 2023 models. Or at least they should pay you if they use your ideas.
We would LOVE that! :-) Griddle on Harley! -N
Great job Jeff! File that patent!
DONE!!! Ty Nate 👍
TGG’s,
Great video and very creative solution. Hoping that if Blackstone or Campchef incorporate any of these mods that they give you credit :). Keep up the great work on the videos. Looking to seeing some amazing food being cooked on the new CC12,000!!
Thanks,
Jay V.
Ty Jay. Cheers-J
That was really cool. I wish blackstone would come up with something like that!
Ty Jim. Hopefully someone will . It was a fun build tho. Thanks again-J
Great modification nicely done
Ty Jason 👍
The rust on outside. I just use old rag with grapeseed oil wipe it everytime after cools off
Great video thank you.
Hey, Jeff. Season both sides of the flat top. Still have limited time with my hand-hammered flat top... but my carbon steel wok has never rusted on the fire side.
Great tip! Thanks for becoming a subscriber! Welcome to the Griddle Guys family! Cheers! - C
Nice Jeff! So, I wonder who's griddle gets modded next, lol. Cant wait to see that video!
Ty YO-POPS 👍. Chris is up. Can't wait to see what he comes up with 😀
Awesome video! Where did u guys get the lid from?
Amazon. If you expand the description under the video there should be out amazon links. That should be one of them. It's worked out well so far. Cheers-J
Love doing MODS!! Great video!!!
Ty Dwight. I couldn't agree more👍👍👍Cheers-J
Love the fabrication boys!!!!!!! Awesome 👍
Always appreciated All-IN Offroad . Ty-J
I like that idea alot. Great job
Ty Rick. Definitely food for thought. Time will tell but so far it's been great 👍 . Thanks again-J
Yay! I can't wait to get my Camp Chef and customize it.
Very cool Robert and ty for commenting 👍👍👍. They are nice units for sure.. Thanks again-J
That was a excellent video Jeff..
Ty-J
What an AWESOME mod, guys!!! 17 days of goodness to get to this stage! We think it was totally worth it!!!🔥 Cheers!!!
Ty ladies. I couldn't agree more. Cheers-J
Great video put me on the waiting list for your griddle
Will do BAT 13. 😁 Thank you . Cheers-J
Nice mod Jeff. I don't have the cajones to try that on my FTG600. Are you still going to fabricate a slide out grease tray?
Did the welds get better or worse as the EW was being depleted?
Sadly they got better. Lol. I forget if I said it in this video or not but I 100% am not a welder. I am only a guy that bought a welder.😁. If I were to put a label on it I'd call myself a grinder more than a welder because I'm constantly grinding my welds to clean the up. Thanks for commenting and for the chuckle when I realized "EW". Cheers-J
Amazing work Jeff. How did you learn to weld?
Ty slawry2010. I have to admit, I still have not yet learned how to weld. If I did, I wouldn't spend 95% of my time grinding and re welding 😁. That being said, I Nate and his brother had a welder a long time ago as well as one of my other buddies had one too. I decided I just wanted a welder and bought one. Between watching and hanging with those 3 peeps I learned enough to at least stick two pieces of metal together. Thanks again-J
Nice work Jeff ! Love the idea !
Daddy Dutch in the house!!! Ty bud and Cheers-J
Really liked Modification 1- but love Modification 2. But I could only have Mod 2 if Camp Chef goes with the modification so I could buy it. Not capable of doing either of the mods. Awesome jobs on both griddles. Talented cooks and awesome engineers.
Ty mbbrown. Cheers-J
Just watched it again, inspired me to do a Video on my Mod's!!
very nice work jeff!
Ty CJ 👍. Always love seeing you in here. Cheers-J
Can I put the griddle top in my new kitchen in the house
Great job on the design, building and assembly of the CC12000. You may want to apply for a patent ASAP.
Ty Bernie. We would all just be happy for someone to make it for the masses. Seems like we all have similar issues. Thanks again-J
@@TheGriddleGuys I appreciate you sharing your design and desire in helping the masses, that's not all that common at this day and time.
Looks good. The only issue I can see is with the hole being so big is that a little bit of food waist. Maybe a screen or vent cover over it that could be removed with a magnet.
Ty Kevin. I can honestly say I haven't found a need. Been using it for a week and it's been great. Thanks again for commenting-J
That's Crazy, Nice Job!
Hey Jeff! Didn't I see/hear that you were an IT guy? Obviously, you are ALSO a Mechanical Wiz! Great build, man!
😁👍🍻 I will gladly accept the compliment no matter how untrue. Lol
keep it up guys. good content. about to fire up my griddle
Good deal Dillon. Cheers and Ty-J
I’m sure there was a LOT of grinding before you were finished. What I’m wondering is “how much Evan Williams is required for a project like this from start to finish?” Great job, a very practical mod. You are a truly creative dude…
That bottle was full when I started 😁. Ty Kconway. Cheers-J
Does the shoot catch fire after greasy cooks?
Not yet 😁
Wow. I could not do something like that. It looks cool.
I probably shouldn't do something like that either . Lol. It didn't hurt that Campchef was so awesome in providing us the griddles to cut up. A lot less risk. Thanks for commenting-J
How about a small pail like they use on smokers for a drip catch
That works too. Cheers-J
What do you do to keep your food from dropping into the grease trap?
Unfortunately nothing. Lol. It's an acceptable loss. Cheers-J
Did you guys violate the warranty?
Wish you did a demo of the grease trap
Definitely works well. Only downside is the occasional loss of food. Other than that great. I've done a few videos showing its beauty in action since but overall very happy. Cheers-J
Nice mod, looks great!
Ty Steven. Cheers-J
Jeff run to the Patent office you have a keeper ! 🤑🤑🤑😂👍🍺
I'm on it👍👍
