"Bigger on the inside" missed Clara's comment, "It's smaller on the outside." Loved the different perspective
I thought the same thing 😂
There was also that lady he rescued from the spaceship.
Tricia Ramgoolam
I think in her case she started on the inside before seeing the outside.
Of course Bill thinking it’s a posh kitchen is truly special.
@@triciaramgoolam4045 But she wasn't rescued, Cass and 8 crashed in that ship after she refused to go into the TARDIS...

10th doctor: 'What are you doing?'
11th doctor: 'I'm, reversing the polarity.'
10th doctor: 'I'm reversing the polarity; you're reversing it back.. We're confusing the polarity!'
(paraphrased - The Day of The Doctor)
One notable example: "It's smaller on the outside."
"Wow, that's a first."
And the odd thing is, I think it really was the first.
Also Rory knowing exactly what's up
@@ZlothZloth I thought Donna said that before in The Runaway Bride, as she appeared inside the TARDIS and went outside!
@@gracefincham5559 Really loved Rory explaining the Tardis to Canton in The Impossible Astronaut...
@@danielfox4626 Did she? Hmmm, gotta watch that again.
Can’t forget m “still not ginger” and Queen Elizabeth the first?
Edit: Oh and the little shop
I love a little shop.
except as Peter Capaldi's doctor stated and Riversong before that established they can choose features. So the Doctor clearly doesn't want to be a ginger!
@@andrewdavids275 The doctor's control over regenerations seems a bit ambiguous. In 'The Girl Who Died' (after a whole season with 12), 12 realizes why he 'chose' the Capaldi face; but right after his regeneration, he makes several comments that imply he had little to no control over his new looks (a common post regeneration monologue - i.e. 11: 'Nose.. Chin.. blimey.. Hair.. I'm still not ginger..').
In 'Deep Breath' 12 does a whole monologue to the drunk guy about his face, especially his eyebrows ('They're cross.. cross eyebrows.. they could take bottle tops off.. they look like the want to cede from the rest of my face and set up an independent state of eyebrows.').
This implies that, though the doctor does have some control over his post regeneration looks, he is not consciously aware of it right after regenerating.
Also, when 11 (Matt Smith) calls Clara from Trenzalore at the end of Deep Breath to encourage her to stay with 12, he hears 12 speaking and says 'don't tell me I got old..anything but old.'
Right before 10 regenerates, he says, 'I hope I look less conspicuous this time'.(or was it 9?)..
OTOH, in support of your theory, 10 gets shot by a Dalek right after seeing Rose (end of part one of two part regular series finale 'The Stolen Earth' - 'Journey's End'), and instead of regenerating, heals himself and siphons off the excess regeneration energy into his 'handy matching bio receptacle.. my hand' and says 'why would I want to (regenerate); look at me,' implying that he likes the way he looks and doesn't want to change..
Of course these could be more for the humor and the arc of each regeneration as planned by the show writer; i.e. it is probable less for canon and more for the development of a given doctor as planned by the writer(s), and as a way to develop the new actor's character.
Or maybe there is some control by the previous doctor, but the regenerated doctor is not initially aware of this. Again, in 'Deep Breath', the lecture that Madam Vastra gives Clara about 11 flirting with her by looking young also supports the idea that the pre-regeneration doctor has some control over his post regeneration looks:
Clara: 'I didn't flirt with him'.
Vastra: 'He flirted with you.'
Clara: 'How?'
Vastra: By looking young.'
Of course 11 regenerated with no companions in the wings, and Clara didn't come along for 2 & 1/2 seasons, so how 11 could have chosen to be young for Clara is a mystery; and Tennant (10) had his own attraction tensions with Rose and Martha. Still, it was a fun bit between Clara & Vastra and it emphasized Clara's struggle accepting 12 as the Doctor.
It would be interesting for someone familiar with the entire Doctor Who canon to do a video on this topic.
Gotta love the little shop
George Piazza why do that no one is going to listen lol
Edit: read
River Song: "I hate you"
Doctor: "No you don't"
But so is "hello sweetie". They're good though 😄

Ayden Switzer We all thought Captain Jack was the only innuendo type.
Hers is bigger than mine!
I like when Clara says, “It’s smaller on the outside.” And 11 gets upset that she said it wrong. 😂😂
Jack: Captain Jack Harkness and you are
The doctor: Stop it
Jack: I was just saying hello
Literally everyone: I don’t mind

It’s just a bit sad isn’t it
To be fair it k py appeared trice not as alot as soem of the other jokes mentioned

The Doctor: Yes. That's because the TARDIS is dimensionally transcendental
Jo: What does that mean?
The Doctor: It means that it is bigger inside than out
😂😂
god she was thick as in Stupid
I read it as this part was playing.
@@DaraGaming42 No she was amazing! Or we've been watching a different show! Joe Grant is one of the best companions of all Doctor Who in my opinion. And seriously, you're going to conclude she's stupid because she just found herself in a place bigger inside than outside and need more than a minute to figure out how the hell it's possible??
you missed the one where people hear the name gallifrey and ask "is that in ireland?"
that one recently gained massive story relevance
Gallifrey is that in Ireland ?
The Dr: "probably"
Lol
They’ve gone all over England, Scotland, and Wales, but Ireland only gets mentioned in “The Hand of Fear” and “Human Nature” as the possible location for Gallifrey.
The Hand of Fear:
INTERN: Tell me, where did you qualify, if I may ask?
DOCTOR: A place called Gallifrey.
INTERN: Gallifrey? No, I've not heard of it. Perhaps it's in Ireland.
DOCTOR: Probably.
The Invisible Enemy:
WOMAN: Patient's name?
LEELA: Er, just the Doctor.
WOMAN: Place of origin?
LEELA: Gallifrey.
WOMAN: Ireland?
LEELA: Oh, I expect so.
Human Nature:
JOAN: Ever the artist. Where did you learn to draw?
DOCTOR: Gallifrey.
JOAN: Is that in Ireland?
DOCTOR: Yes, it must be, yes.
JOAN: But you're not Irish?
DOCTOR: Not at all, no.
i'm guessing the joke is that the name sounds irish. gallifrey sounds like it might be just down the road from galway
@@daveolson6001 All of Earths History and the Docotr Never went to Ireland, im assuing becasue of Irelands war with england in 1916 and 1919/20 and England seeing Irelands rebellion as wrong, they steer clear of Iirsh history. Birits havent a clue about Iirsh History so what would be the point, and anyway in the 1960s-1990s the Irish where seen as Terrorist or Drunksand when they did have Ireland in it in 2020 it was a fucking computer sumulation.
its time there was a proper Historical set in ireland. the Brits see us as inferior, paddys, Drunks and morons so it will never happen.
I miss Peter Capaldi. He did the best TARDIS reaction. Not to mention "browser history"
Suzanne MenuetTGB so did Smith with Browser History

Suzanne MenuetTGB yeah first episode he is in.
@@thephasmidpharm459 ah yeah i guess that counts but twelves ones were his browser history but eleven was looking at Jeff's
Bahkbar# yeah.
Let me take just a moment to explain how important the simple word, Run 🏃, is throughout the years......I'll explain later.
when I say run, run...........RUN !!!!
"I met the doctor once, there was a lot of running"
"Love the running"
Lots and lots of corridors... and gravel pits lol
Looks like, "I speak baby" didn't make the cut.
ArE yOu My MuMmY
That is because it is not a joke.
Erik Willms A lot of other things on the list aren’t jokes as well though and I speak baby is better than a lot of them.
D:
I can't recall "I speak baby" recurring, only the episode with Stormageddon. Which other episodes had it?
Doctor: It Doesn’t Do Wood!!!
Rory: That Is Rubbish-
Doctor: *OI DON’T DIS THE SONIC!!!!*
The Ashman That is me to my friends 😂
Thank you so much for adding in "Oi! Don't diss the sonic!" for the wood part.
I have to confess that while I enjoy the running gags, my favorite single gag was from "The Doctor's Wife".
DOCTOR: She's my Tardis, AND she's a woman.
AMY: Did you wish really hard?
Captain Jack: Nice to meet you, I'm Captain Jack Harkness.
The Doctor: Oh, stop it!
I love how none of them tried the door in the 50th anniversary when they were locked in the tower of london
That cracks me up EVERY TIME!
Ho- how did you do *that* ?
It was played out to be really epic when they were using the sonic just for Clara to walk in
"We are incredibly clever !"
they are too smart for that
Looks like "still not ginger" doesn't make the cut
Probably because it was only said twice by The Doctor and therefore, not really a running joke.
What about "Spoilers"? River said it all the time
"Spoilers" is more of a catchphrase than a running joke. (But then again, so is "Hello sweetie"...)
@@DarthAverage Hmm, that is true, but yes, so is "Hello sweetie".
@@DarthAverage Most of the points on this list were more like catchphrases though.
@@9nikolai Agreed, and as such, they missed a huge one... "Would you like a jelly baby?"
Dani Tolley That's exactly what I was thinking
okay
the "are you my mummy?" one is ICONIC
how dare you leave it out?
When she said that the Doctor and Donna weren't wearing rings, am I the only one that found it funny that they had to check.😂
Only one is missing:
"Look the round things!"
"I love the round things"
"What are the round things?"
"No idea."
Honourable mentions:
• Reverse the polarity
• Would you like a jelly baby?
• When I say run, run. Run!
• Doctor who?
Captain Jack''s take on the inside / outside line was more understated: "How'd you wrap the inside around the outside?"
I loved the Martha Jones reaction.
"Its bigger on the inside"
"Is it? Hadn't noticed"
I like the Hospital shop one.
Yeees the little shop gag is one of my favourites.
Nothing big...just a shop🍻✌️
I also really like the pear one
same
I love recurring jokes in tv shows and in Doctor Who. It's so funny.
I'm sorry to be that kind of person but wouldn't it be "especially in Doctor who" not "and in Doctor Who''
How would you know?!?!
@@livski10124 Because for me it doesn't make sense to say in TV shows AND Doctor Who because Doctor who is a TV Show
Alice Baldesarini bruh it’s a UA-cam comment not gramma school
@@lillanky It's not even a matter of grammar, it's a matter of not fucking making sense.
They included "I'll explain later" but not "reversing the polarity". I'm offended
I think he mentioned it in passing..
WatchMojo explaining why: *I'll explain later*
They forgot when people say "doctor who" or sometimes "doctor what" 😂
Tegan said Doctor Whoever-you-are
“Oh, I see you’ve been doing the TARDIS up a bit, I don’t like it.”
You forgot all those times Captain Jack introduces himself and the Doctor says some semblance of “Stop it”
what about ten’s “wot”?
And "Oh, yes!!!", and "Well..."
What? WHat? WHAT?
what about the little shop
"Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow"
what again ? Lol
"we're confusing the polarity!"
I've always appreciated when Clara went with "it's smaller on the outside."
As always, thank you so very much for the video.
ITS SO WEIRD WHEN CLARA SAID ITS SMALLER ON THE OUTSIDE THEN THE INSIDE.THATS A FIRST.
*THAN
I thought “doctor who?” would be on here
That actually is said on screen relatively rarely.
@@KenS1267 It should be quite close to "It's bigger on the inside"
@@9nikolai Only if you count just the new series. IIRC in the original run it was never said or very rarely.
@@KenS1267 Nah, it was said as far as I recall often in the classics.
@@rockysandman5489 Then you'll have no trouble providing a clip.
*Mouths* "It's bigger on the inside."
"Is it? I hadn't noticed!"
That's the best.
There's a little shop.
Also how did you not mention 'the curse of fatal death' for I'll explain later
What a great way to start the day by seeing Matt Smith's face first thing in the morning
I don't know, a "chin up" attitude can be dangerous around him. ;)
YES WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE
Robert Griffiths I read this is a daleks voice
WHO.......NOSE.......
That's the one I was hoping for. That, and "lots of planets have a north".
I dunno why I keep expecting a _Time Lord_ to explain "later."
The closest he ever got was:
"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey... stuff."
Average audience watching this video: "Huh, I never saw these recurring jokes before"
Whovians: "Pfffft, tell us something we don't know!"
I can't believe you missed the techno-babble gag. The doctor gives a techno-babble analogy and then immediately discredit it.
This channel could as well be called "WatchDoctorWhoUK". I'm not complaining though.
I think Donna was my favorite companion of the Tenth Doctors because there was no sexual tension of any kind on either end. Right after we got Rose and the doctor falling in love with each other we immediately gets thrown into MRSA fall in love with the doctor so it was nice to see the doctor and the companion being on the same page for once and being able to make it work on a comedic level as just friends. This shows the doctor who doesn't need to be a love story although I do kind of like the Romantic bits sometimes I do also love that they could be purely comedic.
5:00
Rory: Can't you sonic it?
*Doctor: It doesn't do wood*
Rory: (blunt as heck) That is rubbish
*Doctor: (turns around) OI! DON'T DISS THE SONIC!*
That is so iconic, gets me every time
I love Donna's inversion of the pockets gag in Runaway Bride, because her wedding dress had none! 😊 Also, Rory saying that the TARDIS transcends dimensions before 11 can get it out, which really annoys the Doctor! 😁
Great segment, but should have mentioned the Rowan Atkinson Curse of the Fatal Death charity episode in the "I'll explain later" bit as well!
12’s ‘Hello, Sweetie’ to River was my OTP moment
My favorite thing about the bow ties was the fancy case he kept one in
“Browser history” and “spoilers” should have been included too
For the last one, about the first impressions of companions as they enter the TARDIS, you should have included the Brigadier's reaction, which was something along the lines of "So this is what you have been spending UNIT funds on?"
I think that 'Spoilers' is more memorable than 'Hello Sweetie'
You missed a very clear one when you're talking about pockets: the yo-yo.
The handcluff.. He carries a handcluff in his pocket? What for? For River Song to use it on him?
@@sknfmsmr he had a full glass of water in his pocket at some point this even if his pocket used the same technology as the TARDIS would be impossible since the glass would spill and ya know how he explains it he just says he has skillz
Can we get spinoff lists please!!!!????!!

Doctor who?
The one thing that I meant to ask at my fitting at chez Allison was GIVE ME POCKETS
When it comes to the "I'll explain later" quote, it would've been good if there was a reference from The Curse Of Fatal Death :)
How could they miss the brilliance of "stay away from my browser history!"
"Reverse the polarity" belongs here xD
"It doesn't do wood" - the Alan Scott Green Lantern problem
What about, “ Would you like a Jelly Baby?” That’s classic!
*mouthing*its bigger on the inside OH rEaLlY I dIdNt NotIcE
1:38 the outside of the Tardis changes as well. The most obvious changes are the windows and the light on top (as well as the sticker on the right door of 11's tardis)

@@CemKalyoncu really not but sure
The vids you see by this channel will be influence by the other vids you watch so you may have a biased view
“It’s smaller on the outside!”
7:16 And yet no mention of the Curse of Fatal Death which used it most times in a single story... even the Daleks say it:
"Why do you have chairs on a Dalek ship anyway?"
"We will explain later."
Also that predicted a few things about New Who eg: 10th Doctor getting romantic with/kissing companions and 13th Doctor being a woman.
And getting married
8:30 The Doctor still carries that yellow yo-yo
I'm pretty sure Peter Davison said "I'll explain later" the most with Colin Baker a close 2nd
i absolutely howled at the referenced to ‘the empty child’ in ‘mummy on the orient express‘
maybe, but in this case, a mummy is a dead person wrapped in bandages, which is what the fortold was
Man, it's pity that you forgot "I don't like pears/ never ever eat pears" thing 😂
10:00 You missed the episode with Clara when she said "it's smaller on the outside"; Matt Smith: "ok, that's a first..."
Honestly I’m surprised ‘doctor who?’ Wasn’t the first one
It's more of a title drop than a joke
I’d consider it a joke when there’s people that say wrong like “doctor what?!”
#5. I mean you could have also thrown in "Spoilers!" if "Hello Sweetie" is considered a running gag.
I always love your doctor who vids. I know even more then before. (ha that rhymes)
"I've been there before, but not yet."
There's two more, one being running or the Doctor saying "run", and two being that something bad almost always happens to his companions. Two are dead, one had her memory erased, one got scattered throughout time, and the last one was "If it's is my last chance to say it...Rose Tyler..."
I’ll explain later - 10 uses this with Clyde in SJA and actually does explain later in the wedding of Sarah Jane ep.
You forgot 'don't look at my browser history!'
The Doctor's first line in An Unearthly Child, "What are you doing here?" That's been uttered countless times throughout Doctor Who and in different variations.
Harriet Jones: Prime Minisit-
