I cannot believe that I didn't know or was taught about the 6888! It wasn't until Tyler Perry made a movie about them. However, I'm grateful to be aware of them now
I’m so proud of this history as a black woman. It’s disappointing that this has been buried. Our young women especially need to see this. So much Respect.
My mother was in the 6888th. She always had respect of the neighborhood. Everyone wanted their kids in her kindergarten class. A guy came up to me at my high school reunion and he wasn’t in my class. H told me how Ny mom walked him home from school because the gangbangers in the hood had been n her class and had respect
For a GI in theater in world war two, or in any era for that matter, mail and word form home is a boost to morale that may often be a matter of life or death Important Job these heroic woman did, the 6888th Saved many young GI's life by their contribution to Morale.
It's December 2024, and this amazing story has finally made it to the big screen with the recent Netflix release of Tyler Perry's movie Six Tripple Eight! it's a must-see movie!
Keep developing this information. Don't hold back!!! God is not gonna come down here and do it for us! Humankind must do better. Americans, engage your 'better angels'.
What an amazing story that is shed with us. These are some amazing Black women who did what was the impossible and made it possible. Hats off to these powerful women of COLOR ❤❤❤❤❤
@@wendyleequietstorm4671 I have to give it to Tyler Perry he did his thing with this movie. One of the best movies I've ever seen and one of the best I've seen in years. I think I heard in a video that he filmed this in two weeks. I must have misunderstood but I'll research that. Amazing film. I'm a 52 year old black man, who looks 32 lol, and this movie even made me shed a tear or two. Or three lol
Im grateful to be a aunt of 3 military soldiers. Thank you to all of them. This is amazing story. Sadly so many of us are just finding out about these brave 850 courageous women of color soldiers to take on this task accomplished in 90 days three months backlogged mail effectively. Doubt us we prevail
First, they were Black women, not women of color. I knew a girl whos mother was in the 6888. Her mother was a postal clerk in Chicago. I worked at the Main Post Office, with the daughter. They lived on Indiana and 43rd. That was in the early 70's.
I hate that the military never gave them their full recognition while they were still here to smell those flowers 💐. The work they did was an overwhelming task and their impact was life changing 😔
You should be as the mothers of Moses and Muhammad and Jesus were black women. Much love to you sisters. You gave birth to the greatest men to ever walked the face of this Earth.
This is so AWESOME!! We found this on youtube and watched it. We had never heard of the 6888 before. Congratulations ladies, you did a most WONDERFUL job!! I'm proud of you and I'm proud that I served as well. Thank you all for your service!!
There are several World War 11 Veterans including Navy Veterans who never received pensions. A lot of them are gone now but this is a wrong that need to be made right and their descendants should get those denied pensions. Some died in nursing homes because they were not sent to VA centers Black Veterans mostly received this neglectful treatment. Also children of World War II Veterans suffer from various neurological conditions from the exposure to chemicals. No real means of reaching out to these dependents either.
*Six Triple Eight* the film - Starts filming in *Bradford* the world's first *UNESCO City of Film* on the 16th of February 2023, with preparations starting in *Little Germany* today. Not sure why they need 25 days to prepare, as other productions which are just as big, if not bigger, and have also filmed in *Little Germany, Bradford* have all done their preparations (set building, set decorating, set designing etc) on the day as far as I know, plus they won't be able to close an entire neighbourhood of businesses and homes from the public for 25 days either.

As a black American woman this made me cry being proud of my dear sisters and sisters in arm as a Army Veteran myself 😢😢❤❤❤❤
This is a wonderful memorial to the Black women who served America in such a noble way. Thanks, Mr. Perry. 🎉

Excellent video.
This is another true story of History that some are trying to erase. Thank you for all those involved who brought this into recognition.
L-O-L It's a postal unit, nothing more. Nobody cares.
@Page-Hendryx you are not everyone. There's billions of people in the world, how dare you say nobody cares. Laugh by yourself, mr nobody 😂
@@Page-Hendryx The soldiers on the front line who received mail from home because of these ladies beg to differ.

Why am I tearful 😢
Girl you know why ❤❤❤😢
Touched my heart too. Can’t stop crying. So much has been hidden from us.
Am here because I just watched the movie 🍿 so good 😊
Wonderful documentary! I'm a proud U.S. Navy veteran/woman of color who greatly appreciates this information and recognition.

What an embarrassment to know about this only now. Charity Adams was only 26 and sent to fail. She succeded despite all odds.
Thank you for your service 🫡
As a white male Army Officer (Ret), I believe that this is a wonderful story that every American should see.
Agreed, as a mixed race male former enlisted service member and military officer. May we always try to be fair and outstanding. Thanks
MP's were absolutely hated. They really were pigs.
Thank you

Only 850 Black American women served in the European Theater of Operations during WW II.
Sorry and Women
Hilarious.
