It was an honor portraying one of these amazing women in the 6888!! As a background 6888 soldier I was often reflective and humbled on set by the POWER in our MARCHING! 😭 every time we marched you could feel the strength and power in moving as one. Ms Debbie Allen was an amazing and patient teacher and I am forever grateful to Tyler for allowing us to tell their story 🫡❤️

@GKAministries, I have to admit watching "The African-American Women's Army Corp" doing the marching routine did remind me of my boot camp training in preparation for the graduation ceremony at Recruit Training Command/ Naval Training Command that once existed in San Diego, California.

@Queenconsciousness311 I can identify with you from a man's perspective being a retired United States Navy Submarine Fleet sailor. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to serve with women onboard those sharks of steel. I read in "The Navy Times" that women didn't serve onboard until 2012. I had been retired for several years. Although I'm sure they are handling their job rates just like the men on a deployment at sea. It was Tyler Perry decision to pick Kerry Washington for the lead role of Officer Charity Adams in the movie. I was quite surprised by Ebony Obsidian being cast to play the character who falls in love with a Caucasian man that was forbidden by law, who plays the character of Karen Moss on Tyler Perry television drama "Sistas" over the years.

I cried throughout Tyler Perry's/Netflix's "The Six Triple Eight." This MASTERPIECE is OUTSTANDING! This will be a film that will keep on giving for generations to come. We will see adaptations in the theater and other genres. Kerry Washington deserves an OSCAR for her performance here.
I'm always humbled, astounded and impacted by the strength, resilience, brilliance, achievements, dutifulness, perseverance, commitment, dedication, devotion and diligence of our African American ancestors. What a respectful, angelic and BEAUTIFUL tribute to them by Tyler Perry in "The Six Triple Eight." WELL DONE. ❤️
Despite the evil, lies, tricks, sabotage, torment, torture, racism, harassment, nastiness and disrespect of yt supremacists/yt terrorists-the oppressors-our ancestors continued on their missions, journeys and assignments. They survived degradation and denigration. They worked hard and laser-focused to chart a path for their/our success. They always managed to exceed the goal posts, although they weren't made privy to them. They continued to fight for justice, fairness and humanity, although they didn't see, feel, or experience these things. And, THEN, there’s US...
To this day, we continue to walk in their footsteps; channeling their brilliance. We continue to tread in their blood, hard work and successes as we strive and work to form a more perfect Union. We continue to fight the evils of racism, while at the same time, pushing forward.
I'm SO VERY PROUD to be BLACK!
    THANK YOU! ❤️

Admittedly, I stayed up until midnight in 12/09 just to watch this movie!! One of the best parts, of many, was when the women arrived by boat and the expectation was that they wouldn’t be able to march, BUT THEY DID, and perfectly. I cried, at that moment I felt such pride as the ladies steps matched the ones that had been silenced. But we need to tell our stories, there was nothing to be ashamed of, their kids should have been telling what their Grandmother did. Beautiful movie ladies, salute!!

Points to JHud for this interview. She asked the right questions but stepped back so the actors could talk.
The next steps is to see the stories of the Black women and men from the African nations and the Caribbean who served in WWII and WWI. The BBC has done docs about some of them. My grandmother, from what was then British Guiana, served as a nurse in England during WWII.

855 women, only two survivors, and the story is just only coming out because of Tyler Perry. GOD is good but I wish the story was done when half were alive so they can see the recognition that they changed the world.

Thank you, Ms. Hudson for sharing your interview with the ladies from "6888". Yes, I cried during the movie and the interview. It is so sad the number of untold stories of our ancestors. It is even more sad that the 855 women of the 6888 Ballalion could not share their own stories with family. Thank you, ladies, for bringing this story to the forefront. I loved it!!!

Thank you Tyler Perry for bringing this movie to the masses for all races. I absolutely loved the movie!
Learning about the history and learning of the women who did such an exceptional job to solve the mail dilemma for the soldiers deserved a Medal of Honor for All. It was such beautiful story of truth. Thank you and I salute the Actors for bringing it to life in the way that you did 👏. I must say that I apologize for the way the Caucasian soldiers disrespected these Women of Color. It broke my heart and brought tears as well. So so wrong and still it goes on in today’s times which disappoints God Himself. We are all His Children.

I have to ask for forgiveness. This link popped up, and at first I dismissed it. I don't watch TV and I am not exposed to a lot of media, so initially I saw a lot of black women "all diva'd out" and looking really pretentious. I judged too quickly. But then I listened, and that is why I have to ask for forgiveness. I hear Jennifer sharing the spotlight with many beautiful and talented black women, and everyone sharing the spotlight with each other and the women they portayed in the movie, which I had not heard about. As was mentioned, this story was hidden, so thank you for sharing it and bringing it to the light. You all seem so talented and gifted and it is a blessing to see black women supporting each other rather than being in competition with each other. I believe each one of us is here to fullfill a purpose, and when we are on that journey, we are unstoppable! God bless you and your journey!

This was truly a beautiful watch. I watched it less than 12 hours ago and the ladies told this story so wonderfully ❤ I’m so happy that Tyler Perry unlocked the story of the 6888. Also, Kerry Washington seems like a joy to work with. All of her cast members from Scandal and beyond routinely reflect how encouraging, mentoring and kind she is to work with
