    I want this done to the bottom of my cabin but they have ply wood on bottom half and no clue what I need to do to prep for stone :(

    • @SolidworksUnlimited
      @SolidworksUnlimited  8 місяців тому

      Cover the plywood with a tyvek or tarpaper, staple it on with a hammer tacker, then install a flashing at the top of the area desired to have stone so water never gets behind your stone, then lathe the wall with a 1/4 inch wire lathe, then buy some type s mortar mix at home depot Lowes, or a hardware store, then add water to it then mix it to a manageable slump the put the mortar on the back of clean stone and stick it to the wall, try and keep the joints consistently the same size, clean excess mortar off with a brush as the mortar starts to dry, in a nutshell that's the jist of it.

      @@SolidworksUnlimitedmay I ask what kind of bonding agent to add ? Or is type S mortar perfectly fine

    • @SolidworksUnlimited
      @SolidworksUnlimited  6 місяців тому +1

      Type s is fine if your just putting it on wire lathe, the bonding agent is only for sticking it to existing concrete walls.

    So you just put the stone up and apply some mortar around it and it doesn’t fall right off? I mean kudos to you, I had no idea how people do this and now I really want to.

    Just watch out for Kaiser during a hysterectomy. My surgeon cut into my intestine which made the initial surgery last over an hour longer, and as soon as I barely came to they were telling me I need to go home. They did this because it releases them from any legal liability. They had me sign paperwork after I was under general anesthesia. Beware!

    I really dont understand why people do this sort of thing. Its cheap, does not endure, and it looks terrible because its a lie. And if that is what you value, why not just put up some exterior rock wallpaper?

    • @SolidworksUnlimited
      @SolidworksUnlimited  Рік тому

      It's approximately 1/2 the cost in comparison to real river rock, looks acceptable and I'd dare say 98 percent of everyone that looks at it can't tell the difference between real and cultured.

    • @yeager6882
      @yeager6882 Рік тому

      @@SolidworksUnlimited it's not 1/2 price. They double the price of rock. They create an inferior product, double the price of the original to tell you're getting have the price. Stone, rock, and sand, like most of are resources are practically unlimited. The contractors, manufacturer, politician are in league to drive prices and increase their profits at your expense for garbage. It's everywhere.
      Consider the Home Depots. They use their buying power to put legitimate businesses out of business. When they're gone, they hike the prices, and then dictate junk products for "lower prices." It's a scam. Stop buying it.
