In my current playthrough I actually settled a little farm settlement right next to the fishing village on the Northern Coast and it honestly just feels like a better version of that. Iron and especially copper are very trash but the fertility and water are top tier, you can mass produce grog and sell it to the local village (which also has basic mats and a ton of recruits) and the trek to World's End is not that bad. You still get raided by cannibals a lot too (they love to swim over from Darkfinger) so you're not missing on the exciting painted tribe adventures, the other threats are largely absent though (no beak things, berserkers or shrieking bandits).
This will change radically if you get the Hiver Expansion mod (different from Hives Expanded, and you should get both btw), as that will add the highly xenophobic Northern Hive, made up mainly of martial artists and ready to attack all non-hive characters on sight. Their patrols are end-game stuff, and will definitely F you up, although if you’re making a Hiver-only run their shops are actually pretty great especially for weapons and armor.
Fighting cannibals isn't the most annoying part about living in maneater county; it's the fact that they will treat sleeping players as unconscious and carry them off. I generally don't build walls around my settlements, because walls are simply a barrier between me and the swordmeat I want to kill. In maneater county, I build walls so my guys can sleep without getting kidnapped.
The funny thing about this is that the fogmen will do it too, I had a lil shack in Mongrel and couple of them sprint past the guards and grabbed my characters from the bed before getting beat up in the shack by the guards that followed them in (was toughness grinding in a martial arts playthrough)
If there is a guide that I most definitely am going to redo, it's the Cannibal Plains one. I can go in with the mod and record the audio with better quality. Thank you for the suggestion!
Went there with a group of like 11 people and the settlers pup. 5 guys got knocked down because of the guy with the big meat hammer. Lucky cannibal hunters came along to help me. Not 10 seconds later bersekers showed up. After a long fight i dropped my sleeping bags to help them recover. Just to get swarmed by beak things since i placed the bags like 20m away from a nest xD 3 people got kidnapped and rescued have not lost anyone so far

Hey Mr. Fueler, what infographics did you like? I am trying to figure out if I should make more complicated info graphics (and ditch some of the gameplay footage), or just add pop-up info while the gameplay is showing.
I like to settle on the Leviathan Coast and raid the United Cities and Holy Nation to ashes. I imagine them talking about the people from "beyond the cannibal lands" being way more of a serious threat than the canibal themselves.
The narrative part is key. There may be several serviceable settlement locations for a playthrough, but people talking about "the faction that came from beyond the Cannibal Plains (or the far North)." That's all gotta start with a Leviathan Coast base for sure!
The bull pack animal has a gore attack that can hit multiple enemies. It's regular head shake with horns is a multi hit usually. I usually get a pack of dogs and a few bulls. I feed the dogs arms and legs. If you load up a bull with all copper you will have 1776 pounds or so. Then you carry the bull to train your strength. The more weight you carry the faster you level strength. So I usually fill a backpack with copper then put it in my other backpack. Also having really crappy cybernetics helps you get those last few high levels. As its so hard to practice with crappy arms and legs that if you can pick locks with that you can pick it with anything
Cannibal Plains was always a great spot for me to go to after a Rebirth start, especially if I picked up some fellow slaves that actually joined the party as getting south can be a bit difficult. I tended to scavenge from the many, many battlefields id come across, sell the loot, and fight any unconscious survivors for easy XP
On my current play through I’ve been very tempted to settle in the cannibal plains. Plenty of cannibals to hunt and the resources seemed good. Also cannibal hunters patrols are expensive but are very powerful

I started my first ever kenshi playthrough and ended up settling in the Stenn desert. Do you have any tips for that area?
You'll have a lot of good fighting opportunities there. I would be most concerned about water/food and some of the stronger faction attacks (Kral's chosen). It's a harder start, but in a pinch you can hunt in Vain to get food.
@@paulrogersgaming food is okay my colony is about 3 people ( I made the mistake of starting a colony early) probably going to run up to squinn for copper/money now that I know that's the best early game way. (I'm currently on like day 17 its a slow start with no guidance) a bunch of random nomads visiting my outpost saved me from a few dust bandit attacks and I've been running from every krals chosen after they took rane the giants arm. I have about 75 aridity and 60% water just down the hill from way station. Have wheat and bread in full production and was selling that/buying meat from way station
@@theelderswear You have good water levels? That's awesome. Sounds like a good base location then. Oh, and with 3 people, I bet food ain't so bad. Sometimes squads get large and then food becomes a huge issue.
@@paulrogersgaming there's one specific spot just down from way station that had 60% water. Literally one well size location. The rest is 10%
@@paulrogersgaming yeah the base is kind of limited due to only having one well. So far idk if raids are extra frequent in this location or not but on default settings I get raided every other day(100%) or very rarely twice in one day. I've even been raided twice at the same time and the two factions slaughtered each other
My man Billy started out as a cannibal hunter, watched his friends get eaten allive trying to sneak in some bushes to save him, enslaved in rebirth trying to escape, escaped again (Billy is just that dude) traveled along bast into the great desert where many a skimmer was thrown in a sleeping bag to train on, and many bounties taken, with the bounty money billy recruited a new following, slayed the Voodoo brother in venge (pit stop for beeps Waifu agnu) headed up to mongrel raiding the lagoon and some other places of their ruins alonf yhe way, sold all out shit, big bank, agnu and beep unite in holy ceremony, and Billy and the Boys claim quite a few prince heads while izumi researches weapons/armor, whilst some grunts forge our gear, from here Billys boys head to face the Meat Lord to exact revenge, and after many casualties (sorry grunts yall aint built like Billy) we claim his Head
One thing I wonder:
If fertility is actually pretty good, why are they cannibals?
EXACTLY!
His last words:
“Eat my ass”
I recommend living in bast as uh … (free loot)
I'm in the process of determining what the last handful of area guides will be. Bast is in the running, but I have had trouble finding copper there and the terrain is pretty uneven. Do you think it's worth giving a second look?
@@paulrogersgaming honestly if I knew what the other areas are maybe not but it’s just insanely op for bounty collecting and loot scavenging. One copper is all you need as iron is easy with smelting. As you mentioned it’s uneven which is it’s downfall. So it’s up to you really I’ll enjoy whatever you go with a good choice too is southern wetlands too
Ninja Women > Cannibals
