I cannot believe the mechanic quoted me $500-600 for this job. Thank you for your service. For a mechanically inclined person. This is straightforward. We should all know how to do basic vehicle work. this should never be $600. Thankfully my dad was always doing stuff like this, and I loved watching.
OMG, THANK YOU!! My brakes are grinding, I got my new rotors and brake pads, but have been waiting for my son who hasn't materialized. I've been home bound and have had it. I'm mechanically inclined and have worked on my cars in the past. Your video is excellent, step by step, I don't think I'll have any problems. The only thing I wish you had addressed was if the calipers are bad.
so glad to help. Calipers usually don't have any issues. It is going to be the brake line that attaches to it if it has any cuts or leaks in it and this wont' make the piston move in and out on the brake pad.
Well Done....! Covered everything a driveway mechanic needs to know
God bless GM for updating their front four wheel drive setup. I also have a 1988 Suburban, and you have to take the entire front hub assembly apart to change the front rotors. Hubs and bearings down to the spindle. My Yukon will take me an hour or two to do the whole vehicle
Grease them caliper pins with a brake silicone grease so the caliper can slide freely and that will give you even brake wear
I’ve been thinking about making videos of me fixing my Yukon. My mom and I fix our trucks together all the time. Honestly It’s easy watching men fix their cars and trucks. They have a lot of upper body strength. Sometimes it’s hard for me to just reach down in my truck or be underneath and get things lose😂 but I think watching myself or my mom and I would make a lot of women say “ If she can do that I know I can!”❤
Thank you! I’ve never done my brakes but I’ve done some MUCH harder jobs all by myself. I just changed my water pump over the weekend by myself 😁(Yeah I’m bragging, I’m proud😂) so I know I can do this with no problem! Thanks for the video!❤
Nice job!
Thank you. Never done my own vehicles I feel like crap saying that lol but I’ve gotten to a point where I need to. This video got the job done
Great front and rear videos bro no BS content 🤙🏼🇺🇸
Awesome write up! Thanks for your help!!!!
Thanks for posting this ❤ I kinda wish I lived next door to you 😂😂 I'm a bit freaking intimidated by trying this 😮 😂
made it look real simple great video
If your jack handle breaks down into segments, it works great as a breaker bar
Good video brother.
very well done.
It's fun seeing you pull out your many and varied skills. I think of you as a modern day Renaissance man. Enjoy whatever you end up posting Bro. Keep it up.
Thanks I had throbbing brakes. Bought new rotors at Advance Auto and put them on - still throbbed. THEY SOLD ME WARPED (BRAND NEW ROTORS!
whoa, what? thats crazy. Maybe your caliper was twisted slightly?
do you have a link for the rotors and pads? Thank you for the video
Decent video, but you didn't grease anything. So easy to pull the slide pins and clean and re-grease...and also the new clips for the brake pads. A definite in my books for any brake job.
I agree, I normally put anti cease on the back of the rotors where they contact the hub. It makes it much easier to get them off in the future. Also use brake lube where the pads contact the clips.
Forgot to lube the guide pins
Thanks
Great video, thank you! Do you have a preferred online place that you like to buy brake parts from?
Oreilly has good ones.
What size wrnech do we need for the calipers and pads?
What size were the brake caliper bracket bolts
Tried looking everywhere still cant find anything on torque specs for the calipers and slide pins 😕
Should be about 122. and the wheel bolts at 140.
Just use an impact for all your lugs and bolts 🤷🏻♂️
He was showing both ways
Whats he gonna do with a ryobi 1/4 impact 🤣🤣 shit will burn out.. if you didnt notice he had a 1/4 to 1/2 chuck
👍👍
May I ask did you order your pads or did you buy them local? If local what store if you don’t mind?
They were from Oreilley auto parts, thanks!
Why after cleaning you throw back on the grass tho lol
Torque specs for all fasteners, clean/lube slide pins, lube pad ears, drain old flyid when compressing caliper, and lock tite on calioer bracket????
3 ugga duggas on the click wrench
Thank you very much you are gonna save me alot of money great video 🫡 now i can do it myself instead of wasting lots of money
you are so welcome!
