How to change your brakes and rotors on a 2014 GMC Yukon. This is going to be similar for a 2007-2014 Yukon, Silverado, Sierra and Tahoe. It is an easier job than you think and you can do it and save some money. I had to replace both brakes and rotors. Sometimes you can have your rotors turned instead of buying new, but I did not have enough thickness for them to do it. Had to replace with new.

I think once you're in that deep, its a good idea to pull the slider pins out to clean and lube (hi temp brake grease) and also replace the boots if they're torn. Sticky/dry pins can cause one pad to wear much faster than the other pad on same wheel.

Silicone brake grease on them pins

Hi, remember when instaling the pads you have to make sure the wear indicator is located against the driving forward disc rotation, if the one you are installing is in the oposite side(up or down), then it is for the wheel on the other side of the truck, also take in mind you need brake grease, any other will flow with heat and damage the pads in daly use.

My rear passenger brake caliper bracket bolts came out easy. But the rear driver brake caliper bracket bolts using PB BLASTER, a 1/2 breaker bar, cheater pipe, hammer and muscle were not budging. Had to use heat to get those two bolts you mentioned loose. It was like they used "red" permanent locktight on those two bolts. (The driver side bolts are difficult because it's harder to get good leverage on that side).

Great video, wished he would have shown how difficult it was to break the nut on the calibers.

After changing out pads on my 2007 Chevy Suburban and going for a test drive, the driver side rotor was extremely hot compared to the passenger side (450 degrees F using my infrared temp gun). Any idea why the overheating condition on the one side only (NOTE: I took everything apart to ensure correct installation)

Why did you decide to replace the rotors? How can you tell if they NEED it? Also, why didn’t you replace the copper clip like on the OEM?
