2012 Brett Kingaz Chrono Yeaaaaaahhhh That tone control like a digital echo Plex boiiii Add in one of the OLD Neunaber WETs like the first stereo ones Oooff but if only the Providence Chrono had a dry thru/ wet out you can send it to a stereo box with a Ø n go all 2290 or send it into a chorus
Favorite Delay?? Favorite of the ones I own, Free The Tone Future Facory, Strymon Timeline, Newcomer is the HX Effects Dual Delay. other than that whatever Andy Timmons or Steve Lukather or Steve Vai is using!!
As much as I love the delays in modelers like the Axe and Helix, there's just something about the tone out of a pedal like this that's really inspiring.
Great demo :) The DIG in 12bit sounds like an old DD-2 / eeearly DD-3 .. but with the options for tap, and mod . Yowza . That is worth the admission price alone .. 'But wait .. there's more..'
We need to know if the new BOSS SDE-3000 Dual Digital Delay de-thrones the Strymon DIG, which was also based on the same Roland SDE-3000 during it's development. Time for a shootout!
You can get a pretty convincing Timmons Halo delay out of the Dig. You have to use secondary functions to make sure it is in series and that delay 2 isn't tied to delay 1's timing because you need D1 to be about 375ms and D2 to be 500ms. Not too hard but would be nice to own the Dig V2 and save it as a preset instead of recreating from scratch.
Very Cool, Thankyou. Awesome Sound. I have a Donner Echo Square on one board, and a Cuvave Analog Delay and a Behringer Vintage Delay stacked on another board, each has it's favored options, but I think the Behringer with Stereo out is my favourite for that extra dimension. Cheers
DIG is the best digital delay pedal at capturing the vibes of the Roland SDE-3000, Lexicon PCM42, TC2290, Korg SDD-3000, AMS 15-80s and everything from the 1980's that attempted to be one of those benchmark delay designs. DIG is better than the Free The Tone or any others that shoot for the same target. I suggested to Strymon that DIG really needs a small LED readout so that the delay time can be entered in BMP/Milliseconds. Maybe at some point they will work on a more fully featured pedal like Volante that focuses on digital delays like the 2290 and AMS 15-80s and can add an LED readout for delay time and get those secondary functions all onto the surface level. I've suggested exactly that to them multiple times and offered my assistance. I think it would become one of their best selling pedals and not affect sales of Timeline which I am hoping becomes a plugin like Big Sky. DIG V1 sounds better than V2 for me. Others may have a different opinion, but I love the way the delays are voiced in V1. The delay lines in V1 have a more pronounced midrange and a really nice "smear" in the way they decay.
Love the idea of dotted I having an Eventide "layer" switch. I totally agree that the way Strymon handles secondary functions on pretty much all of their pedals is inconvenient at best.
The FF has gone back to the distributor already BUT if you want the ultimate in tweakability that's the one to get. The DIG is a little more streamlined feature wise. They both sound amazing.
For straight up delay this works very well, for ambient reverb and delay either the Dark Sun or my favorite of all time is the GFI Systems Specular Tempus
@@LeonTodd There’s an older Anderton’s video on the Specular Tempus with Bea and Pete that’s got some really awesome vibey stuff. I still revisit it once in a while. 🤘
It sounds great man.. I always love your playing, so that and this delay pedal = 100 % cool!!!!! Strymon stuff is like your axeFx stuff.. It just works and sounds great man! Just quality stuff.. I've not heard an Strymno that sounded bad really.. Really cool demo sir.. Very cool.. Thanks for the demo brother.. Always good stuff on this channel.. I listened to half of the pod cast with you and Troy.. Very cool.. I will listen to the remainder later brother! Keep up the good work my man! Regards kind sir Tim
@@LeonTodd ooh, that’s your Band! What a f*ing great riff 😃 I felt like I knew it from somewhere but apparently didn’t. Anyways I immediately had to learn it last night.
12:36 on would have been a great time to break out the old War Horse Telecaster. It would have added _just_ the right amount of heft and thunk to it.😌 Grab that pedal, an early Jackson Soloist, a decent amp and you could have head hunted at every studio in America in the 80's Leon.😎👍🏻
Is the dotted 80's setting the same when players in the 80's used two delays at the same time? One was very short about 40 ms and the second longer. I have this pedal now and I would like to know how to set it that way.
It's the same settings the Edge uses on every other U2 song - the delay time is calculated as a dotted 8th subdivision of the tapped tempo. EG 120bpm dotted 8th note = 375ms
Hi Leon and everyone..Having a strymon timeline, do you think i can get most of the sounds that are on the dig by using Digital and dual engine on the timeline?..i Always loved the dig except for the missing of presets... i have the chance to have It used for 200 euros..but i'm very torn..thanks to your videos i Just bought a boss dd200..beautiful, but Just a Little weak on stereo spread and missing a real ping pong(come on Boss..what a shame!! 😓) don't know what to do..dig or not dig?🤪..thanks
I really Like this pedal but for the price it should come with onboard memories. As it is you have to spend $50 just to get 1 memory (plus the manual settings) And it costs you the expresion pedal option to do it
The Duotime is basically a "multi mode" delay with a few different preset delay types. Really impressive unit, especially at the price. The Dig is more a "sandbox" where they give you two stereo delays with modulation, a few different routing options and plenty of control over the individual delays. It absolutely nails the character of old rack delays without the inconvenience of having multiple rack units. The Dig Stereo ping pong is super unique too.
Strymon really dropped the ball by not having presets on the new version. I still have a dig on my board, but if I start gigging again it’ll get replaced.
You have to buy a separate midi switcher and possibly the conduit that interface. By that time you’re over $500. The keeley halo and eventide micropitch have presets without spending extra money.
Similar for sure. The Halo has cross feedback between the two delays which the DiG doesn't. But then again DiG has the series ping pong which is super unique!
What's your favourite delay?

Ibanez de7... I think it s missing in your reviews.. Very cheap cool pedal.

So beautiful! I think I'm going to try and get the el Capistan and the DiG, and be done with it..the question is V1 or V2, of each..! Thanks Mr. Todd!
As much as I love the delays in modelers like the Axe and Helix, there's just something about the tone out of a pedal like this that's really inspiring.
All that processing devoted to doing one thing REALLY well
This is why I prefer to build my rig around pedals.
Man the playing is even better than the awesome delay pedal!
Great demo :)

The Vintage Delay is a bit of a sleeper pedal. great features for the price.

Oh man if Strymon do a Volante sized 2290/AMS/PCM unit I'll buy 2 immediately

Hey Leon can you do a video comparing this to the future factory? I'm on the search for the ultimate 80s dual delay pedal!

I've got the Strymon Cloudburst and it's a lot of fun to experiment with. Like it a lot
Best Dig demo out there. Nicely done.
Brilliant demo! I bit pricey for me, but these sounds is where I live. Thanks for the video. :)
I like what you played over the freeze stuff.

Of course now I mess around with the pod go's delays...but the last pedal I had was a cheap Mooer "reecho" and it was surprisingly good😮

I bought the DiG for that reason
@@LeonTodd I just bought DIG midnight edition! Super happy about it
I wish Strymon would make an all in one modeler, for Pete’s sake!!
