I regret I can only like this upload once. I would take this opportunity to say how nice it is for product to be so thoughtfully showcased and demonstrated. Tasteful playing, concise explanations and no unnecessary hype. Well done to all!
Great video, Strymon! I make lots of these, and I love how concise it is and how you covered everything, spending just enough time on each feature. Very nice
I have the DIG, Timeline, Big Sky and the Mobius for about 6 years now, never looked back, even today after 8 years since these pedals came out, nothing, i mean NOTHING compares to these pedals, Strymon is and always will be a trend setter in the guitar effects world.
I recently purchased a strymon deco pedal and what you can do with it is just absolutely amazing the dig is going to be my next purchase these guys add so much value to their product it is unbelievable
This is so helpful. I wish every higher end pedal had a video like this. Demonstrating the effects is wonderful, of course, but also going into the background of developing it, and the ideas behind it. I just ordered one of these today, in part because of this video. Great job, Strymon.
Sounds amazing! Strymon killing it on all fronts. Great demo, good stereo sound to really feel the full depth of the pedal. Pleasure to watch and hear.
Really enjoyed this video, thank you! The monotone yet warm voice limits itself to tell just that detail which is relevant at that moment, calmly to be followed by some guitar playing examples, during which a light smile appears on the sound designer's face. Wonderful. Looks and sounds like a fantastic pedal, fairly easy to operate.
... I must confess, the first time when I saw a Strymon pedal in a youtube video I didn't like it - it was a Timeline and seeing its price I thought that it is only an exageration - then I watched more videos here on youtube and in time I realised how worthy these pedals are, they are the best - and then I felt in love with the Big Sky which I recenlty bought it and I am more than happy with it - now I can only dream having all your pedals in an ultimate dream pedalboard ! ... thank you for making all these possible, you guys, are the best ! ...
Pete, As a Principal RF, HW, & Systems engineer for 3 very well known global companies, and also as a part time gigging musician over the last 20 years (fulltime for the 10 years prior), and happy owner of every product Strymon makes, I say this: you sir, are an utter genius! Thank you for blessing us "weekend warriors" in all shapes, sizes, and abilities with these truly magnificent creations that give us the tools to reach the sounds, and the bounds of sonic imagination. Even though I paid list, I am deeply in your debt. lol!
+lastdaysguitar Thank you so much for the kind words to Pete. I'll be passing this along to him and I'm sure it will make him blush. It helps all of us work harder when we read comments like this. If you are ever in the same room with Pete, please make sure to come over and say hello. I know you both would have a wonderful conversation together :D Thanks!
I've always had a deep love and constant use for tape and analog delay, only digital delay I would is the Boss DD series...but this is incredible and very versatile. Great job guys
Incredible pedal. I love this and the El Cap. Guess I'll have to try the brigadier and see what secrets it holds. The DIG and El Cap are both just so inspiring.
Whaat?!? Keep it up and you guys will be inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame. Its not even a fair fight: Strymon vs the rest is like Bruce Lee vs Chuck Norris. Dig it.
That moment when you realise delay will never, ever, get better than this... These aren't pedals, they're instruments!... Thanks Strymon, will now be buying.
as a 9 year guitarist who is also a studio engineer and studying sound art science, the combination of excellent playing with in depth technical knowledge makes Pete's demos invaluable. if you don't understand, check out Strymon's video featuring Pete on the Deco! currently I own a timeline and a big sky. next on the list was an el cap and after tonight I may need to add the deco and dig to my growing list
I have a TimeLine that i'm joined at the hip to, so I won't be getting this one soon. But man, these demos of the DIG are a top-notch masterclass in how to use various kinds of dual delay. Very useful and inspiring stuff. Cheers and thanks.
Good lord, mine just arrived - secondhand but thats always a good thing as it drives people to buy newer versions or different pedals (I do!) This is your best pedal Strymon, it is just superb. (Big Sky, El Capistan and Timeline owner - all fantastic). I've been lost in a cavernous pingpong of chorus percussive perfection since it arrived. I'm pretty sure if I plug this into the others it will reveal hidden dimensions within the universe. . . . Thank you.
I wish that strymon would come out with a rackmount combination that incorporated all the abilities of the "Timeline,Big Sky, Mobius and dig-dual " . Stereo ins and outs and 4 loops for additional outboard gear .(like distortion or whatever suits to taste). I must be crazy! to wish for such sound pallett heaven !!!!
+stuknd80s Hi, Thank you so much for the feedback. We don't discuss what is or isn't in the works, but appreciate hearing from you. Will pass along to the team :)
strymon Your quite welcome.Seems to me back in the late eighties effects were engineered strictly for the tweaker. I had me an Ibineze analogue rack-mount guitar delay which had 3 independent delays in series. It was ear candy all the way, (no math was used) and I spent very little time on making music. The sense of adventure fueled the motivations ha! We needed you back then.
in minute 10:38 I see that you activate the secondary function by pressing the tap and bypass buttons. But I also see that can you bring back the buttons to 12 o'clock and I'm not sure what that is for? Thanks Rob
Hi! So basically Pete is moving the knob a little to just make sure that the secondary function is set to the ping-pong configuration, which is around 12:00.
Hey guys, you did it again! Very simple and useful product. Great! I just bought the rare and hard to find korg dl8000r on ebay for these effects. Much better product than tc's flashback delay.I am curious what's next on your list. I wish it had presets.
I tried the settings at 13:26 and could not reproduce the same sound in this video. was there a reverb involved that we don't know about? such as reverb knob on an amp?
+leoetine There was no reverb involved in this video demo and all the effects you heard are from the DIG pedal. For the setting you described, did you make sure to set the FEEDBACK FILTER to minimum (press and hold down both footswitches and turn the MIX knob to 0% while holding them down before releasing)? If not, make sure to set this parameter. Also, the CONFIGURATION is set to SERIES and DELAY 2 is sync'd to the Dotted 8th setting with both MIX knobs around 1 o'clock.
Such a great delay, but sorry I have to ask Pete what model Agile he is playing, and what pickups are in that thing. It sounds divine! Great Chords progressions PETE! Strymon rocks.
Connect the send of your amp to the input of the DIG, and then use the left out of the DIG to go back to the return :) If you have any more questions please email support@strymon.net
Hey, guys, I wanted to know if there is any relation between the sound of the 12 bit mode and the sound of dark analog delays. I know that digital delays don't do so well with high repeats because of their bright sound, so I'm wondering if the 12 bit mode is a solution to that. P.S: I own the DIG and I love it. @strymon
+Philip Hernandes Analog and 12 Bit digital delays process their effects in different manners to achieve their distinct sounds. Analog delays use bucket brigade chips to produce their delay repeats which lower in fidelity with longer delay times and repeats. The 12 bit mode of the DIG achieves its warm sound from pre-emphasis and compression prior to the A/D conversion where the delays are generated. For the D/A conversion, an expander returns the signal back to the original level along with de-emphasis to restore a flat signal response and reduce noise from the conversion process. You can certainly use 12 bit mode for warmer and darker digital delays.
Well... that does it. Now, I gotta get the DIG too. I was sorta thinking maybe my BigSky, Lex, Deco & Iridium might be enough for a while. But, NOOOOOOOO.... The DIG is just simply too cool not to have as well! Plus, I may as well get the Zuma. Oh, and I will need the Ola because I always have vibrato turned on. Chorus won't hurt. HEY STRYMON, DOES THIS EVER END???? This has become an addiction! Seriously! I innocently bought the BigSky because I simply wanted the best Rev I could get, and that is it. But, it opened up a whole new Universe of sonic quality for me. Thank God I don't have any children or a house! I might have to live in my car, but I will have the plushest sound around! LOL But, seriously, thank you Strymon for putting out products that are what we have always dreamed of having. I am in my sonic happy place with your pedals. Keep them coming. (I guess my only issue is: I wish you just built every pedal with the expression pedal already built-in. But, I guess that becomes a real-estate & price-point issue.)
have you ever considered seperating (or allowing for seperation) of the tap and bypass from the control functions so that (for example) the bypass and tap remain floor controlled and the rest of the unit is 'top of the amp' or other, more easily accessed by hand? The unit sounds really useful BTW!
Elliker Donald Glad you like the Dig! We did not consider it for this pedal as we were going for a traditional pedal design with on-board TAP Tempo and Bypass switches.
Dear Pete , love the Deco pedal you have created !!! , could you make an overdub type pedal ? it would be different from a dual deck, double track sound . As you know , the overdub sound is created by recording the same (part /sound) on multiple tracks thus creating speed descriptions on the attack (pre-delay) ? and also producing a tape modulation.
+Rich Polito Thank you so much for the compliment and the feedback. We don't discuss what is or isn't in the works, but appreciate you taking the time to let us know what you are interested in :)
Pete is the fucking man - not many have the perfect make up of player, electrical engineer, and Mad Scientist. Should be inducted in The Hall. Thanks Pete - haven't bought one yet. Liking the Dig a lot. Great price on Reverb right now :)
Hi guys, i've got the DIG and the DECO. I need to run them together in stereo mode (Deco in studio mode too). Better run the Deco in the Dig or viceversa? They are the last pedals in my chain, and directly plugged to the mixer. I need the widest stereo possible effect, i mainly play in theatres. Thanks!
+Stefano Gualteroni Thanks for being a Strymon customer! :) I think in this case, it is just a matter of which setup sounds best for you since they both have great stereo separation which will pass on through to each pedal, especially with the Deco set to Wide Stereo mode. Try both and use the setup that works best for you.
+strymon Thank you to you for building really great products :) I'll try both chain versions, my doubt was due to the Deco saturation, which is great in the theatre mixer, hope it will work the same even if followed by the DIG. Thanks again!
I have a question: Just to be sure: If MIX is set to minimum and Delay 1 is set to be tempo dependant but the quarter note is selected, can we then use the tap tempo switch to set Delay 2 as the sole delay without it being dependant of Delay 1? Thanks for the very informative videos.
+Hysterix Just to clarify: the TAP Tempo switch will only control DELAY 1. DELAY 2 can sync with DELAY 1 when set to SYNC mode, but when set to FREE mode, only the TIME 2 knob will control the delay time for DELAY 2.
Yeah I got the part about free mode. But since delay 2 has more subdivions, it seemed more practical to me to use delay 2 as the default delay and only use delay 1 for dual delays. So what I'm wondering is , since delay 2 depends on delay 1 in sync mode, can delay 2 be set with tap tempo if delay 1's mix is at 0? Though i just noticed that delay 2 cannot do a quarter note ...
+Hysterix Yes, when DELAY 2 is in sync with DELAY 1, the TAP tempo switch will control DELAY 2 with the MIX of DELAY 1 set to 0%. And, yes, there is no quarter note option for DELAY 2, and you would need to use DELAY 1 for quarter note repeats with the MIX of DELAY 2 set to 0%.
Jon Guerra When using Stereo input, the LEFT INPUT goes to the LEFT OUTPUT, and the RIGHT INPUT goes to the RIGHT OUTPUT. It does not sum the signal to a single mono output when using STEREO input.
On DIG, tapping a new tempo while there are delay repeats in the delay line will re-adjust the delay time without any muting or pitch shifting artifacts.
una pregunta strymon el Dig lo puedo conectar al blu sky para que me salga una linea en estereo por un amplificador y por el otro amplificador su sonido normal

@zapantalambda There is no level control for the Dig, however, there is a MIX knob for each of the delays to control the dry and wet signal mix level.
Strymon pedals are so packed with amazing possibilities, but I would be lost without these videos. Love it.
Thank you :)
Love it mate!! I now own the pedal, can't stop watching your demo..articulate and beautiful.
Thank you!
Strymon is untouchable nothing available today compares to their awesomeness, everything they do become a must have. Thanks guys
Your playing is better than most of the people who make pedal demoing their life; and they're not busy designing fantastic products!
ebeep Thank you so much :)
The detail in these breakdowns/overviews really is unparalleled! Thoroughly enjoyed :D
Thank you :)

A stunning dual-delay pedal. I bought one last week together with the Blue Sky, and have been lost in ambience ever since !
+Peter Marshall Love that. Thanks :D
I'm glad that Walter White is still alive - and doing great guitar videos like this. Awesome pedal - especially the stereo feature!
I AM the golden ratio.

Thank you!
You guys make some seriously incredible pedals.
just another genius creation from Strymon.
Thank you so much ☺️
I LOVE YOU GUYS! I own ALL your pedals, nothing else is good enough. This pedal fits my style. I will be buying it. Keep coming up with new stuff!
Jason Fillion Thanks so much :D We definitely will keep working on more new goodies!!
in my opinión is the best digital delay in the market. Great great work Strymon.

Best Delay pedal I ever bought, And I can say the same for the Chorus and Phaser pedals.
You guys knocked it out of the park again! It sounds glorious!

Fantastically musical.
So is the internal chip modeling the sound of the conversion of a 12bit a/d/a or is the signal actually being converted using 12bits?
The internal DSP is modeling the 12-bit sound.

Does it sum of it is receiving stereo inputs. Do the timeline/bigsky sum if they are receiving stereo inputs but only sending the left channel?

I dig it!
@Strymon I really want this pedal, but it seems like it really relies on stereo operation quite a bit. Does the Dig hold up as well in mono?
Rican James Thanks for checking out the video! :) Yes, the DIG works and sounds great in both stereo and mono setups.
why does it not have a Level knob same as the El Capistan? like how do we control the loudness?
Awesome chords you are playing in this vid. I thought it was pronounced 'dij' like in 'dij-i-tall'. That would be hip. Put some dij on it man!
can someone tell me if dig's tap tempo also cuts out the feedback when you step on it, like the el cap? or if it warps, like the brigadier
On DIG, tapping a new tempo while there are delay repeats in the delay line will re-adjust the delay time without any muting or pitch shifting artifacts.
that's a step-up! thanks strymon
That clean tone though
@@strymon muchas gracias
Can you set one delay to get deeper and darker while the second delay gets brighter?
***** Both of the delays on the DIG share the same feedback filter, so there is no way to have independent filtering for each of the delays.
