As I'm 61, I find the best way to not look "older" is to remind myself to smile. Nothing brightens a personal style like a smile. My mom is 93, and when she smiles, she shines!

I regularly wear red lipsticks 💄 now that I’m over 40. I find that it adds color and “life” to my face.
No nudes for this 63 year old. Color on my lips lights up my whole face. I do have a couple pinky shades that re softer but they work well when I’m playing up my eyes with color. Thanks for the wonderful tips. We older ladies still love our makeup - just need to be more discerning in our choices. I wear shimmery eyeshadow too. 🙂

I agree with you regarding hoodies and sweatpants. There are plenty of other more stylish options that are comfortable. When it comes to men I absolutely dislike baseball caps outside of playing an actual ball game. Seeing men go out to dinner wearing a baseball cap and cargo shorts screams I DON'T CARE WHAT I LOOK LIKE and I made ZERO effort.
My pet peeve here in the USA are women who wear yoga pants everywhere. They are too tight and show everything.🤢
I’m 48 and I feel that great skincare is vital! I prioritize that over makeup. From retinol to vitamin c to masks and skin treatments I find my skin glows. I never leave the house without defining my eyes but my skin is bare and moisturized with a little blush. I never powder as I have naturally dry skin and I find that hydrated skin always looks healthier and more youthful.
Your skin is to die for! You are beautiful inside and out :)

Merci beaucoup, Angela. One trick that I use, is dark plum mascara, instead of black. YSL, and Dr Hauschka both have this colour, and they are both wonderful! I have green eyes, and although I was uncertain at first, I now very rarely go back to black. Warmest regards from New Zealand 💜

However, I respectfully disagree with some of your fashion tips 😊
Although I am quite petite I love beautifully cut oversized clothing in quality fabrics, one of my favourite looks is oversized masculine suiting (both jacket & trousers) with a crisp white shirt. Oversized looks make me feel modern & kind of Scandi (although I’m Australian) 😅
I totally agree with a minimalist vibe when it comes to accessories, a statement handbag in a bright colour looks fabulous with a monochromatic outfit and gives a sophisticated but modern edge.

lining the lower lash line in older women is horribly aging and sinks your eyes into your head. women just don’t want to listen to this and think it looks good. thank you for mentioning this!

Your makeup looks really work for me. I am 64. You have shown me I do not need to change the shape of my face and at any age can enhance what I have naturally. I am wearing less makeup. Your tips on diet are fantastic. It didn't occur to me before that I already had natural beauty, rather that I needed makeup to create that but now I know I have natural beauty, just need to enhance the positives.

I really enjoyed this video, as you've provided tips and commentary that are "classics". I used to work in the cosmetics industry (in my 20s and 30s), and I could almost hear your words in my own voice!!!! You are absolutely correct about all of it (there are always a few exceptions). I laughed out loud when you got to the "American Sweatshirts/hoodies" , because at 54 I still wear sweats every day at home, but I choose to never wear them out: not even the grocery store. Why not? Over the years, I have known/worked with many European women, and they have all expressed the same opinion about wearing sweats (or any workout wear) as an outfit, unless at home or the gym. You are my favorite Beauty UA-camr!

I remember it was a very unusual and cold summer in Berkeley, California and I was so unprepared for the cold weather lol. Everyone was wearing hoodies and that's why I bought a few and OMG they felt so comfortable and warm almost like a hug :) That was the only time when I wore hoodies outside (during this summer). Then when I came back to Europe I never wore one outside. As you mentioned it's not something that Europeans wear. It's considered as a gym outfit. I still have them in my wardrobe. You are very young, I have just turned 69. I just try to be myself and be kind to others.
And thank you for telling the truth about those insane MUA videos with like 8 layers of fake skin, it’s horrifying! It’s suffocating the skin. Makes these women look like drag queens, a look rooted in misogyny IMO and takes an exhaustingly long time. I’d rather look natural or wear no makeup than wear a mask in order to decorate my face. After 8 layers, it no longer looks like my face! The misogyny of the very popular “drag queen look” is designed to make women not look like themselves and it’s sad to see so many MUAs do this to themselves and teach women to hide their entire face….it’s depressing and not good for their self esteem and their soul.
And thank YOU for stating this. In the late 90s I could see this starting to happen and I felt exactly like this. Natural, elegant makeup all the way.

I don't think it's the misogyny - if a man uses make up in order to achieve feminine features, he has to cake it on no matter what, and exaggerate it to conceal his own features. It's usually a stage make up, people at the back need to see your features too. But yes, lets run like headless chickens and scream misogyny. That will help.

Wonderful presentation! You are so charming and I laughed a lot about the nude lipsticks 🤣😂 It's true that sometimes the wrong color can make us look as if we've been sick. These kind of greyish nudes are trendy in the States. I love that French women choose healthy looking nude colors. I've always liked the nude lipsticks that you wear. Yes!! I have friends who are light/fair. It’s usually my friends who are white. And they love these purpley Greyish toned neutrals. And it always makes their complexion look so dull. Whenever I tried to tell them, they assumed I was “hating”. So I was like whatever 🤷🏻♀️

I've started tightlining my upper lid with Stylo Yeux Cassis by Chanel. My eyes are blue and I am pale; this is a great alternative to black, navy, or dark brown.

Thank you for giving us so many good tips in this video! I especially appreciate your recommendations regarding wearing beige, & particularly your advice to determine the season in which you'll wear it. I absolutely agree that wearing the wrong colour beige for our complexion in the wrong season (tanned vs untanned, & the various hues in between) can either overpower us, or make us look washed out.

Don't apologize for comments you feel may be offensive to Americans. It is helpful to understand the European point of view when trying to elevate your style. Hoodies and work out clothes as a daily outfit are in my opinion very tacky, but at least people aren't wearing pajama bottoms to go out, which was a big trend not too long ago

Monochromatic means "one color," so people can wear all blue, all red, all pink, all black, etc. This is what monochromatic means.
Huge thank you for your recommendations 🌸 I started to use foundation only less than two years ago, and I follow you maybe for like a year and a half, it was very hard for me to choose a right foundation for me, since I’ve never used them before and didn’t know much, but because of channels like yours (and mainly yours) I bought all my foundations, they’re really great, and all of them (3) are from your list under this video. Especially the two of Chanel really are the best ❤ I really trust your taste and opinion in many things (not everything, only because our natural colours are a bit different)

I had to laugh while watching this. I work in TV/film. Every time you said "unless on film / studio lights". I can't tell you the number of times a makeup artist has been doing my makeup and said "well, for this part - you would not be too glamourous" and then proceeded to put a bold highlight / bright lipstick, etc. It is really true what translates on film is so much more muted. But of course, we are half blind a good deal of the time by the lights on set, especially if it is night and they are using lights to make it day 🙂

I feel that too much bronzing and too much eye makeup makes one looks older and this temple blushing and blush under the eyes looks like someone punched you and ofc too pink too much color. I love minimal makeup always the brows bcs I am missing on the right side and I love the gel wet look , lipgloss and some eyeliner (thin and not on the under eyes)and normal mascara (also not on the bottom lashes) with skin tin (or BB cream or even a foundation but a drop literally) and blush and maybe highlighter. That’s like it. I also need to curl my lashes they just fall always. I hate not need contouring or too much blush or bronzer or matte lipstick (this is for me only for special occasions)

It is about a funeral home set in LA, and the creator, Alan Ball, set it there because he said Los Angeles, CA is the part of the US (and the world, I think he said) most in denial about death and aging.

I like a lot of your advice here which is mainly spot on and really good! I do like animal prints, but I understand that's not for everyone...As a woman in her sixties, I don't mind looking "older", because I am older. Older can (should) be good! What I think you really mean by older is frumpy or dowdy maybe?
Love your videos Angela. Thank you. Something I have recently experimented with is a tinted lip oil. They feel lovely alone or over lipstick. I also pat the product into my cheeks for a lovely subtle dewy cheek colour as an alternative to blusher. (But of course with minimal foundation as recommended by Angela 😊❤️)

I love your orange top, Angela! Agree about animal prints, although, if kept to a pair of shoes or a belt, it may be ok. Yes, less is more as we get older. I’m 63 and if your skin is in good shape you will naturally require less makeup. A pop of color on the lips always looks fresh and flattering. The only ones who can pull off lots of eye makeup and a nude lip are the young ones.

Hi Michelle, I usually don't like physical exfoliants. They are too harsh on the skin. I only use and would recommend chemical exfoliant (i.e. glycolic acid, mandelic, salycilic, lactic depending on the skin type). These work best in my opinion. xoxo

I totally agree about staying away from pale nude lipsticks. As I age I have noticed I need a lot more color in my lipsticks and I have noticed that women who are my age do not look good in nudes. In the USA, esp, people are still into the nude lips and I think some older women think because it has been a trend among the young that it will make them look young, but it does the opposite. I also agree about the leopard prints and animal prints- I have seen many older women try to use those as a way to look younger or more edgy but it backfires. I'm not sure I agree about jewelry, however, because I would say it depends on the type of jewelry. You look very beautiful in those colors, by the way.

You remind me of someone here, I can't quiet place it, some Brooke Shields and someone else. Agree with your beauty tips, I can't stand the pale lips people have been doing for years it does look like everyone is sick even at a very young age with beautiful lips. You also mentioned shimmery lipstick, I used to love them because I love shimmer in makeup, I had many shades, my favourite was very light rose pink and it looked good on me (yes those don't look good on anyone, I guess I was lucky haha). However, you are so right, with age, wow, they do make your lips look very bad, older than they are, older than you are, I was upset that I couldn't use one of my all time favourite lipstick glosses with sparkles in it because it did that too, it just goes into creases collecting light in all the wrong ways

I also love shimmery lipsticks and I used to wear them when I was younger. I felt nostalgic lately and I started to look for something shimmery that will look good and found the Sisley Phyto glosses. I run a tad of powder thru my lashes before primer and mascara then use a fluffy brush like the Milk Kush to slowly begin to build.
I also believe in in loads if skincare and I've spent almost 3 years following skincare experts learning about ingredients

First of all you look very beautiful in this video. I love orange, too. Secondly, I'm sorry about your mom. Thirdly, a cheaper option that I found with a great foundation that lasts a long time and decent skincare line is Clinique. They often give bags of samples away too when you purchase a bigger item. And you are right, while it seems judgmental, I hate seeing people at Walmart wearing what looks like pyjamas and not trying at all to look nice.
