I love that you mentioned that foundation is not necessary. I'm 19 and have clear skin so Ive never seen the point of it but all the makeup tutorials nowadays have primer, foundation, concealer, setting spray.. Jesus Christ. it makes me feel like my skin is clogged up so I avoid it. good to know Parisian women do too.
Lipi Rastogi Unfortunately I have a lot of broken capillaries around my nose, and on my chin, as I age, so I always even everything out with a BB or CC cream because they are lighter than foundations. I wish I could get away with just using an untinted moisturizer! I usually just use a BB cream, just a touch of blush or bronzer, a light colored illuminating mineral eyeshadow, brown mascara, and a tinted lip balm. My goal is to look as natural as possible, to use natural products, and above all to look like myself! Enjoy your youth, I wasted mine trying to look my age, with just a little too much makeup, because I had a baby-face!
+Justine Leconte officiel I wish the girl who did my makeup for prom had your approach...I just looked like Melania, completely expressionless...keep up the good work!I have no idea how I found your channel but I'm so glad I did
You are making the right choice Lipi! I am 57 and have never worn more than an occasional touch of concealer since I was a teenager. I get compliments on my skin all the time. Don’t think I’ve had easy skin either, I have rosacea but learned early that the less I mess with it the better. For anyone with very sensitive skin or rosacea try Clinique Redness Solutions line - calming cream, protector w/SPF and cleanser. Moisturize with DHC products. It’s a Japanese company online and their line based on olive oil. I set up my nieces and many friends with these soothing products very young and those that didn’t succumb to the lure of trendy & harsh products have beautiful skin. Smooth and pamper your skin - don’t torture it! End of my preaching. 😉
I love what you said, "It's not about making your face look standard, it's about highlighting your personality." That's so different from some perspectives, that seek to look like someone else. A real game changer!
I am Native American and I do the same " French" routine. It's a PERSONAL Choice how you carry and make yourself up in my View. Over all interesting tutorial.
I love that the focus is on having a good skincare routine and only using coverups as necessary! Much easier to do and doesn't take as much time in the am.
Correct blemishes not hide your skin! Enhance your features not change the way you look! I hope Instagram makeup girls get those 2 points. Great video Justine
yes!! I wish this channel was around when I was experimenting with makeup. also leave your brows alone, not every hair on your skin will grow back after you've plucked it :/
People are different. Let people enjoy things. Some enjoy full faces of make up and some prefer minimal make up. No need to throw other women under the bus
My notes for this video 1)-using misellar water for removing makeup. 2)- prefer golden colors over pinkish on their face. 3)- the eyes or the lips. 4)- color of maskara that complements the color of the eye. At night:add a think line of winged eyeliner. 5)- the shape of eyebrow :- keep it natural. 6)- hair :- nourish it very well Ends can't be dry Roots cant be greesy Between the roots and the ends, it's preferred to have shine. They like to keep it in layers. Bangs and braids are awesome.
Hmm, every woman from every country is beautiful. You dont have to be French to be like this. And its not copyrighted regime exclusive to French beauty only
Justine- you are adorable! You have the brightest friendly face and a beautiful smile. You put everything so simply. You make me feel we can all achieve this look. It is logic to play up your good features and play down the ones you aren't happy with. It is taking care of yourself and being confident. Merci
Either the lips or the eyes -that's how I've learned it too. I also always go for maximum effect with minimum effort. I had no idea that's the French way of going about it, I just find the idea of needing to put a lot of effort into my hair and make up in order to look nice depressing. Also, if you go all out every day you can't step it up for special occasions anymore.
I know this video is old, but it's so affirming to me! When I was 13 -- nearly 4 decades ago -- I went to modeling school and French skincare/makeup/hair was taught to us religiously. I'm relieved (and just a little smug) to hear that everything I learned was dead-on accurate. It thrills me that the beauty standards of French women haven't changed at all. It's also nice to hear that there is one thing I've done right my entire life.
Hi Justine. I was working at my computer today and youtube randomly presented me with some of your clips, including this one. It's very "haute" to be into French beauty and style nowadays, with numerous books written on the topics of how to dress, live, eat, and relax in the "French" way (yes, I've read them). I find your tips and advice super accessible and easy for the average, busy woman (French or not) to relate to. I loved your comments about hair, especially -- the French way (here in America, what am I DOING spending tons of time and money blowing out/flat-ironing/curling my hair? The worst thing about it is that, even if it looks nice, I simply don't WANT to). This world generally needs to take a chill pill (hear that, ladies?). Many of us are trying to dial it down in this busy world while hoping to remain elegant and confident. In a world where I have resisted Instagram and all sorts of others things, you're giving me an "in" back into beauty that's so refreshing (and empowering!). Thank you for your infectious smile, friendly approach, and streamlined, sympathetic advice. Merci!
I love that the main focus was on having healthy skin and healthy hair, and highlighting your positives. loving all these videos, as I'm changing my look up for a more grown up look, these videos have helped tremendously. x
The idiom "picture is worth a thousand words" exists for a reason :) I often have a good laugh with my girlfriends when they are describing the item they got, and when I see them. Sometimes it is not even close to what I visualized :)) Is it me or their description, I don't know:)) Justine, your videos are so good! Short yet informative and with good hints for thousands of those in love with fashion and style!
There is no harm to our community Justine, don't worry. Since the beginning of internet things like this are happening. Although I am all for freedom of speech, I am even more for respect and civil behavior. We don't know why some ppl do nasty things. We can't "fix" them, change them or teach them the lesson of socially acceptable behavior. Therefore, the best is not to get in commenting, and you can block individuals who are going over the line. Nothing can spoil my love for fashion, beauty and small community of gorgeous ladies on this channel with Justine in the front seat:)))
I have witnessed it each time I visited paris and it (as well as aging) has affected how I do things too. Less is definitely more. No overdrawn lips, no fresh blow outs on anyone under 70. I watched girls on the metro with bare face and just slick of warm red lipstick, that looked amazing even with light hair and eyes. Or a coat of mascara and maybe some matte bronzer and gorgeous as can be. Not everyone looks the same. Women take pride in their natural features and hair texture and that's so liberating and beautiful. I have allergies and redness problems so all I ever use are French farmacy brands, Avene, Bioderma, Uriage and Caudalie being my favorites for respective products. I have managed to ditch foundation thanks to those and only use dab of concealer in case of redness occasionally, and play up either my lips or my brows, which are my best feature. Hair color is also often natural or closest to the natural shade, which again I find amazing, so I ditched hair color for years now too and stick to my natural brown. Those women love themselves, their imperfections, and their strong points. They wear nice but ultimately comfortable clothing, that lets them live without worrying about outfits.
I love the fresh classy French look! I also like hearing you promoting women embracing their natural beauty and staying clear of cosmetic surgery and the other overly invasive strategies! There's so many reasons to not go that direction and good reasons to focus on how to focus on skin and gently enhancing one's natural beauty!! Thank you Justine! You are lovely!
I pretty much always leave my hair with its natural wave, down or braided. Sometimes amid my American culture, I start to think I should put in more of an effort...and then I get a nice reminder like this video that what I'm doing is considered chic in other cultures. :) Enjoyed this very much - thank you!
Yes, while every culture has their good points, I sometimes feel I was born on the wrong side of the pond. I've only visited Paris, but almost feel more comfortable there. :) I wonder if there are any French girls dying to wear blue nailpolish or light washed jeans that feel they were born on the wrong side of the pond too? Nah..... probably not! :-D
I have long subscribed to the concept of using cosmetics as a means to touch away minor flaws and enhance what’s there rather than using the hottest trend bc it’s popular … this video makes my ‘not always going along with what’s current but what makes me look good’ preferences validated
That was great. Could you do a video about the "mindset" of how a French woman gets dressed in the morning? Like - what does she consider for a weekday? The questions she asks herself. I'm American and it seems that here there is an all or nothing attitude - it's either yoga pants and a tshirt or a super "done/finished " look.
MsPapersquirrel french women worry to look good at all time but in a relaxed way. It's like not that done but they want to look cute in a constant way even through little things that doesn't require too much time like a bit of mascara or a cute tee shirt. It's really different from Americans I think.
I am not French, either, and I am from a very small village, but even my 60+ mother changes from "home clothes" to normal ones (jeans, leather pants...) when she goes to a grocery store less than a kilometre away, and she always puts at least mascara and some lip product in the morning when taking care of her skin in the morning, even if she is just going to a forest to pick berries. It's just a habit.
britain too, you're either going to a wedding with no inch of real skin visible - even your cleavage has highlighter and lipstick (just kidding)(slightly) or you're walking down the high street in your pyjamas full of holes. As an older, staider person, i'm bewildered by it all
HATE how so many people in California wear yoga pants daily. Kids at school too. A few years ago, you would see yoga pants/leggings only at school pickup when moms had just come from or were going to the gym. Now it's standard fare 24/7 because they're "comfortable". It's embarrassing to me that that is what our clothing has become. I hope that there are other places in the world (besides India) where women wear stylish, comfortable clothes--even jeans are better.
Love how straight to the point you present this. No over speaking to make a long video, normal talking and very clear and also very informative. Congratulations.
Loved the video! Ït is about not trying too hard to become something else, but being just yourself. God, I am so tired of the instagram makeup! I visited Paris in april few years ago and I could've taken pictures of any girl on the street, they all looked so nice and fresh! Try that in Kardashianland! Perhaps something about the style in Berlin too?
I keep coming back to Your videos! Your voice and presentation, and all this french stuff touches simewhere in bottom of my heart. Simple, radiant and beautiful.
I too would love to know what an older French women does with her makeup, skincare , hair style - to cut or to go grey and the outfits she is drawn too. I just love your channel :) ..... hello from Australia !
Yes your video is wonderful Justine, thank you...I would love to see tips for an older woman interested in the French style as well...thanks ahead of time ???
So, I moved to the U.S. The girls come to me and ask "What brand of foundation are you using?" Me "I am not using any. I don't own a foundation. This is my skin!" Girls "Oh, you must be from France!" Me "No, not really". Now I see what this was all about :)))) Thank you for this useful and educational video, Justine! ♥
As an American woman not caring for the popular makeup fashion this really spoke to me, this is what I do what I love to do. I never realized my makeup routine was not so unique. I love French style makeup thank you
I love how it's all about keeping it natural and subtle, and emphasising what is unique about you. That for me is the beauty of French makeup. Thanks Justine.
a beautiful woman has confidence. She is not french or spanish or any nationality. the best example is Charlotte Gainsbourg. If you just looked at her photo you would see a mouse, but when you see her move and speak and get her persona she comes to life and is in fact a beauty.
I'm a Filipina and our college graduation pictorial is coming up. I was anxious about how would I look so I bought all sorts of make up like primer, foundation, etc. tho I don't know how to use them. I have clear skin and I just realized that most of what I bought are useless and it's sad I haven't seen this before I bought those -_- GREAT VID BTW 🥰
I don’t wear makeup everyday, only on special occasions. I feel like I’m “making” myself up everyday by cleaning, nourishing and hydrating my skin twice a day. And I do spend a bit more on on moisturizers, etc. it’s my luxury that makes me feel good about myself. One thing: I take a quality multivitamin & probiotic everyday for inside beauty. 😍 I love your videos Justine! I would love to see a video on your home decor too.
This is EXACTLY how my bestfriend and myself do our hair and makeup! I am an American raised by a German and a Rusian. She is Norwegian. I love culture and the descrepancies you find. I guess this is a very "European" look. I love it! I love your videos!
I love the info about make up and showing the skin. I have done my makeup without foundation for the first time in years today, and my skin looks great. My freckles aren't covered up and I look fresher. Thank you for my new look Justine! I'm going to invest in taking better care of my skin now :)
I completely agree with the french make up & hair care. I have never been a fan of heavy make up ie full coverage foundation, contouring the face, cheeks, nose, highlighting and the use of coloured eyeshadows. maybe a tiny bit of shimmer in the inner corner of the eyes when i’m feeling fancy, and that’s it. it’s pretty similar to korean make up where maintaining healthy skin & looking natural is the main focus. Thank you so much for explaining in an entertaining yet concise manner.
Lovely video. Very strong insights into both skin and makeup, while also inspiring. As a Non-Binary person, my face can sometimes be a bit of a problem for myself, depending on the day. Whether it be my facial hair shadow, my eyebrows getting too bushy, or even feeling like my facial structure is too square, I generally rely on makeup to help me feel more confident about my skin. Coming as far as I have in my gender transition, it's safe to say that my makeup application has become more subtle, while still making myself look like my own brand of beautiful. I love waking up in the morning and not having any specific makeup plan (Will I have my eyes or my lips pop today?), and always look forward to caring for my skin. I have to say that learning about French beauty as of late has definitely played a major role in me starting to take serious care of my own skin and loving my own unique face. I've learned that I shouldn't try to look like anybody or hide who i really am, but show the world that I am beautiful for my difference and no one else can take my own face away from me. I've begun exfoliating twice a week, wearing occasional face masks, and using tinted moisturizers which have all made a huge difference; I get so many compliments about how healthy my skin looks in its natural state! My hair has a very similar routine to what you described. I've grown it out just past my shoulder blades in a very healthy manner, wash it about three times a week, and only occasionally do I do something with it like a pony tail or a messy bun. My hair falling down over my shoulders and waving as I walk is without a doubt one of my personal favorite parts of my look. Great videos overall. I look forward to the next one.
Hey! I loooove your videos!!! thank you for your tips! I've always been fascinated about french glamour and natural looks! Greetings from Dominican Republic in the Caribbean!
I am fascinated by all the insight and knowledge you give us about French style. It is honest and humble for this I thank you from the bottom of my heart.❤️
I love this series, its like a culture documentary. So interesting!! Thanks for posting, I'm so inspired to embrace nude-trend makeup highlighting skincare. I got so hung up on youtube beauty and instagram trends and Sephora trends that I forget my own inner beauty. Timeless beauty wins over trends!
I have the same philosophy with the exception that when it comes to beauty products high cost does not always equate to better quality. This applies particularly to skin care. My skin care purchases are more scientifically proven ingredients driven these days. I will admit there is something about luxurious packaging that speaks to my feminine desires however.
Karen .c.h yes and higher end/quality skin care lasts longer in my opinion. Like I use a clinical face wash for $30 but it will last me six months. If I buy something cheap I’ll go through it really quickly. And with make up and cosmetics the packaging is important! For example, with drugstore cosmetics if you drop it once & it will turn to dust immediately, but with the higher end stuff it’s packaged so nicely, has stronger pigment, and won’t trash the make up bag because the caps come off. I have become a bit of a product snob I guess but to me it’s just like with clothes, it’s a better cost for value to invest a little bit. Free gift with purchase coat, samples, and chasing all the sales helps. However, It really sucks when everything runs out at the same time & it’s time to re-up...really hurts the wallet!!
i love pictures as well as the simple, clean instructions. simple for me is best. years ago my 'aunt' Natalie, at the time in her 90's, made the daily effort with makeup, hair and clothes. she went to work every day, even when only permitted part-time in her insurance business...we used to joke that her commitment set the unusual example for Galveston Island (TX) beach/tourist/bums whose main getup was shorts and flip-flops...i figured i got two out of three most of the time when I worked at UTMB (the main medical/nursing school and hospital) due to her example...even though she passed over ten years ago, her values make a difference. like Justine's reminder about food education habits, that template works everywhere.
Hi Justine! Saw this one yesterday and am committed to teaching my daughter The French Way. I have tried a ton of style on my own throughout the decades only to find it time consuming, unnecessary and simply impossible to recreate the wheel. My experience combined with your skill and expertise will save this young, beautiful girl a world of hurt and hassle *fingers crossed*
I feel as though a lot of these things are rules that European women in general go by. My own mother, from Poland, always taught me that it's important to take care of my skin, that it's worth spending on quality products, makeup should never be overdone; etc ;etc. I don't feel that these are strictly "French" attributes. Nonetheless, an enjoyable video!
'You don't want to hide what is special to you. You want to highlight that because that's what makes you look like you. It's not about making your face look standard. It's about highlighting your personality.' This should be emphasised more often! What I mostly see around me is women trying hard to look like one of the (American) celebrities without feeling good in their own skin. That's very damaging, especially with young girls always wanting to be like someone that they are not. That makes you rather unhappy in the end, because comparison will show you differences too and acting like somebody you're not is tiring. Justine, I found your channel today and I truly enjoy your videos. I never knew I prefered this 'French mindset' this much. Well, I knew in the back of my mind that your (French women's) style is admirable, but have not seen it matching my preferences so far. You earned a subscriber today. Thank you.
So many of these guidelines were once American guidelines too! I don't know when it changed but with exception of the 90s, we were taught all the same things.
Great video even in 2021! This is timeless: enhance your good features, invest in good skincare and voilà! Merci pour vos super vidéos Justine, ils sont toujours sympas à regarder! :)
New to your channel and I wanted to say it’s refreshing to see a UA-cam video promoting a persons natural features and not trying to change a persons look. So glad to have found your videos!
This is an awesome video. I LOVE skincare and sticking to a strict regimen of high spf every morning, then double cleanse with very gentle oil and cream cleanser at night, then thick moisturiser on damp skin, eye cream, serums then bed. Perfect.
I am really enjoying your videos & just subscribed. I know french culture well so it is so much fun to talk beauty, however not with everyone! No pretention with you, love your way of being☺ and my intuition tells me you are genuinely nice!
What is your feeling toward this movement to letting your hair go gray? Do French women dye their hair as the grays come in or do they go to the natural look?
Dear Justine, your vlogs are so very insightful and informative. Thanks for showing us the French way of thinking when it comes to makeup and clothes. I like the fact that french women look so beautiful with the less makeup look. As an Indian, I like most things about the french, the food, language and even their houses. Also their movies and serials/ soaps ( watch them when I am bored with the usual Hollywood/Bollywood typical movies). It seems french women give a lot of thought to the way they look without going over the top. And it's a pleasure to see you smile while explaining.
Urgh, I live in the UK - Cheshire to be more specific. Everything is fake. The majority of the young women wear so much makeup that you don't recognise them when they have a clean face. They spend hours in tanning salons, or overdose on fake tan - they look like goldfish in overtight dresses. SPF is something which they view as a pointless tan blocker. I am like a pale stranger here, but when I am in Paris, I feel at home. I visit Paris at least once a year, or spend a week in the South. I visit Citipharma and stock up on La Roche Posay - which you can get in Boots stores in the UK, but the prices are inflated and the sales ladies know very little. Every time I leave France it is with a heavy heart. I would like to see more about hair care, especially about hair colour. I have been getting grey hair since my late teens/early twenties due to anemia. I have been colouring my hair for the last 20yrs. Natural shades, nothing weird or out there. What is the do's and don'ts of hair colour and care. Thanks for bringing France to me. 💞
Not all British women do but I think amongst the youth "overdoing it" is considered a bit cool ;) Some British women take a page out of the French or Scandinavian women's books as it were and enjoy keeping things simple, elegant and natural. But I suppose we do have quite a few different subcultures here as we are such a diverse country. For instance, some arty hipster types seem to enjoy dressing up in very retro, almost frumpy, clothes. When I worked in the fashion industry I noticed some women chose simple elegance (like the French) and some really enjoyed pushing the boundaries and going for more avant garde fashion and hair / make up looks. It's such a mixed bag! But I do agree that in some circles the fake tan and "more is better" approach is sadly quite popular! :/
So glad I found your channel, I have unknowingly been doing my makeup in the "French" way for years, really since I moved away from the heavier makeup I wore in my twenties during the 1980s. I love that your videos are very relaxed and you appear so natural and unaffected. Keep the videos coming. Cheers
French women seem to be very similar to italian women. When I was living in Italy, they were never using a lot of makeup, and the hair was as natural as possible. I think this is nice, but at the same time, the markets had very little options of hair products compared to Brazil (my home country). Since they generally don't change the color or the shape of the hair, they probably need less products to fix the damage. I can't be like this because I love from time to time to change my hair color and do some curls, so I really need hair products that can treat damaged hair.
oh no french girls don't use too much make up at all! the less they wear make up the better they look , their make up is so light that you've got the impression they don't wear make up at all!
Caroline A. Italian women dye their hair very often actually, maybe they tend to use always the same colour along their life, but most of them have dyed hair
Stella Rajoria well, in the city where I was living (Florence) I've never seen italian women with crazy hair colors, like pink, blue. But maybe this depends on the city, maybe cities like Milano have more diversity on hair color.
Caroline A. Yes crazy colours are used almost never, I live near Milan and in these latest years they have become fashion, but still you can find very few people wearing them, we use mainly more natural colours (bright reds and pale blonds are condidered almost like crazy colours too)
That's so weird, I find Italian women often wear heavy makeup and often bleach their hair. I know Donatella Versace is an extreme, but there is a toned down version you see everywhere in Italian streets.
I like how she said that its cool to skip foundation. I never used it and I see all make up bloggers using it EVERY time. It's actually bad for your skin. Too much product clogs pores and causes pimples and all sorts of other problems
I feel like that too about France! I am originally from Russia, left 28 years ago and live in Israel since. Love Israel. But while visiting Paris or Strasbourg, I feel at home. French style speaks to me the most
@@kediavedu : actually in India its only after we start working we have some access to make up stuff otherwise it's just a cold cream some loose powder.....thats all....
Hi Justine, just found your channel and love it! Many years ago I spent time in Paris, and noticed how beautifully dressed the women were. I had coffee at the same place every day, and realized that the women were wearing the same basic items but with subtle changes each day. One woman had a perfect, gorgeous coat and handbag, and would change the look with a scarf, or different shoes & boots. Quality over quantity. Just like the food. A wonderful way to live!
Great video, thank you! I've always admired the French beauty philosophy of enhancing your natural beauty and playing on your strengths. I don't understand the mainstream makeup ideals of being unrecognisable when you take your makeup off. Fake lashes, drawn-in eyebrows that have nothing to do with your real eyebrow shape, overdrawn lips, etc. Also, French Pharmacy products are fantastic! Nuxe, Bioderma, La Roche Posay and the many others! You can't go wrong with them, especially for someone with sensitive skin like me.
Lovely - while I agree with much of what you say, I can't on the brows or liner. Then again I come from the classic, older North American woman's perspective - and sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who sees this. As we age, brows definitely need some adjustment so as not to look angry when your not and that includes tweezing the top. ha ha ha
My style in make-up, jewellery, hair, fashion is all french- although i didnt copy it . İ made those choices and realised from here it was parisian styles. Simple, natural, classic and quality is what resonnates with me.
So glad I found your site. Love your video and you. You are so natural and make me feel good about myself. Just needed the advice you are giving. In San Francisco I saw some young french women and noticed their faces. No makeup but so natural and clean looking. I am 77 but you are never too old to improve your looks.
Yes! Thumbs up for going for premium-class makeup :) I got this from my Russian mom- I don't use it that much anyway, so it's not a huge expense. Although my favorite red lipstick isn't Chanel, it's Armani ;) Also, do you want to make a video on fragrances? it's such a fun thing to discuss! Do you use them a lot? I always struggle with them in the super-casual Berlin- lots of people here don't really wear perfume, so a perfume fan like me has to be very subtle... But maybe it's different in the fashion sphere?
+Daria Sukharchuk fragrance is a hard topic to convey through a video... I don't know yet how to tackle the topic. Do you have any specific question on that? I wear perfume almost daily, I switch according to my mood / agenda of the day / outfit 😊.
I love the idea of highlighting your natural looks. The worldwide trend right now is often just... too much. Lots of contour, eyeliner, lips, lashes and THE HUGE EYEBROWS!
I love your channel. I used to follow others which took forever before getting to the point. You explain everything so beautifully and have such amazing ideas. Thank you
Thank you for your review. One youtube makeup channel did a makeup look of a French women and then did one of an American woman. It was very funny. She showed American women use a ton of makeup. That was so true. The reason American women use so much makeup is competition since they have to sell themselves at every turn. French women often have "contracts of employment for life", free and affordable medical care for themselves and their children, free daycare, and pensions from the French government and don't spend their money on needless makeup. They have to budget every month to pay taxes to the French government, so they do not consume much. I live near Paris in the western suburb of Saint Germain-en-Laye. In the USA, makeup is sold and bought by American women for every cm of their face. They mostly try for a standard look according to the trend. The trend now is highlighters and eyebrows. One must glow and have thick brows. lol Few have the courage to be themselves. It's a lot easier to live in France and just emphasis your lips or your eyes if you choose. Most women do nothing at all except skin care. All the luxury makeup and skin care brands are sold at the major French corporations for 50% off. French pharmacies also promote Nuxe and Caudalie along with many other French skin care brands.
Hidden Advantage, Inc that’s the key. Focus on skin care And you won’t need as much make up. I’ve began doing that and I’m transitioning to a tinted moisturizer with SPF 45 in it & am loving letting my true complexion/glow shine!
I have a korean lip tint that's great for using depending on the time of the day. I usually use just a little bit, very soft for the day (and it's great because it looks oh so natural!) and use the same tint but a bigger amount at night.
Hi Justine. For starters I probably wouldnt ever have been interested in fashion if I hadn’t found your channel. I learn so much from every video of yours. Thank you
I am adding this very late, but I learned as a foreign exchange student many years ago, in France, students are taught to speak English with a British accent.
You have a very infectious smile Justine. It is so interesting to see how women around the world groom themselves. In India, the beautician will 'thread' ( manipulate a thread with both hands to tweeze out unwanted hair) your eyebrows into shape. She would do it above and below the brow. This was in reference to how french women groom their eyebrows.
Extra virgin organic olive oil is WONDERFUL for the skin as a moisturizer also! Pure organic coconut oil and baking soda is a great cleanser. Both oils contain natural sunscreen and loads of nutrients for the skin/body!
+Lipi Rastogi yes... The skin needs to breathe 😅
+Justine Leconte officiel I wish the girl who did my makeup for prom had your approach...I just looked like Melania, completely expressionless...keep up the good work!I have no idea how I found your channel but I'm so glad I did
it's sometimes a matter of profit.
Loved this too!
I heard my father once say he loved the way my mother looked without make-up...that was it for me! :)
💞
I am Native American and I do the same " French" routine. It's a PERSONAL Choice how you carry and make yourself up in my View. Over all interesting tutorial.
I love that the focus is on having a good skincare routine and only using coverups as necessary! Much easier to do and doesn't take as much time in the am.
Correct blemishes not hide your skin! Enhance your features not change the way you look! I hope Instagram makeup girls get those 2 points. Great video Justine
well, it's me & a few French people making videos, against the whole Kardashian family & their huge following... so I can't win... ;-)
yes!! I wish this channel was around when I was experimenting with makeup. also leave your brows alone, not every hair on your skin will grow back after you've plucked it :/
You summed it up well, what justine was saying
I 100% agree!
People are different. Let people enjoy things. Some enjoy full faces of make up and some prefer minimal make up. No need to throw other women under the bus
My notes for this video
1)-using misellar water for removing makeup.
2)- prefer golden colors over pinkish on their face.
3)- the eyes or the lips.
4)- color of maskara that complements the color of the eye.
At night:add a think line of winged eyeliner.
5)- the shape of eyebrow :- keep it natural.
6)- hair :- nourish it very well
Ends can't be dry
Roots cant be greesy
Between the roots and the ends, it's preferred to have shine.
They like to keep it in layers.
Bangs and braids are awesome.
“It’s not about looking standard” 💯
Isn't it funny...that's the only thing you'll find on most of UA-cam
I feel secretly French because I resonate with this so much
Hmm, every woman from every country is beautiful. You dont have to be French to be like this. And its not copyrighted regime exclusive to French beauty only
I love this philosophy of beauty. Natural is beautiful; real is beautiful.
Women in France do not all do this . This information is not true . Lolol
Funny how this woman is not French but seems to know everything about us 😂
@@frenchtoast7742 but Justine is French. Read her bio. She is from France bug currently living in Berlin.
@@frenchtoast7742 if she's not french what is she?
I love how french women look natural both in terms of makeup/ hair and clothing! Greetings from Malaysia😊
+Réka Makó having "too much" makeup on would definitely be a faux-pas...
Malaysia? U live there? I thought of something else. 'Cause your name.
Justine- you are adorable! You have the brightest friendly face and a beautiful smile. You put everything so simply. You make me feel we can all achieve this look. It is logic to play up your good features and play down the ones you aren't happy with. It is taking care of yourself and being confident. Merci
+Orangeufunny thank you for your nice message 🤗
Right on!!!!
Charme francais🌹
I love this! Please do a French skincare video :)
Merci!
I love that the main focus was on having healthy skin and healthy hair, and highlighting your positives. loving all these videos, as I'm changing my look up for a more grown up look, these videos have helped tremendously. x
thanks!
Love that you use pictures to give examples!
+eizhowa 😉 I listen to the feedback from my viewers!
+TN D If you had any sense, you would grow some eyes and a mouth, because looking like a orange blob does not make you any favours.
+eizhowa I warned this user. He gets it together or gets blocked. Sorry about such people who do harm to this great community...
I super love it! that's actually my concept of a good make up! Enough of this Kardaishan look! I never appreciated it
+justchill okay hahaha 😊
You are lovely!
glad you enjoyed the video! :-)
I look terrible in eyeliner and red lipstick so I guess I can't try french makeup
@@tyttiMK What country?
Love how straight to the point you present this. No over speaking to make a long video, normal talking and very clear and also very informative. Congratulations.
Loved the video! Ït is about not trying too hard to become something else, but being just yourself. God, I am so tired of the instagram makeup!
I visited Paris in april few years ago and I could've taken pictures of any girl on the street, they all looked so nice and fresh! Try that in Kardashianland!
Perhaps something about the style in Berlin too?
+Lorelei Tarlea Kardashianland 😅 They are shaping the current vision of what "beautiful" is, I think... Not just in the US anymore...
Saldy, true... I see the girls in my city painted like clowns "Kim style"....
Justine Leconte officiel Yes, sadly.
it is no different in Ireland. .. orange Instagram makeup all the time :/
Hahaha, you are right!
Thank you so much for your videos. I will be moving to Paris soon and this answers so many questions
You are the epitome of beauty, style, grace, and intelligence, Justine!!!
I love French style makeup thank you
I've always loved the minimalist look. French women are absolutely beautiful. Thank you for another great video.
I love how it's all about keeping it natural and subtle, and emphasising what is unique about you. That for me is the beauty of French makeup. Thanks Justine.
a beautiful woman has confidence. She is not french or spanish or any nationality. the best example is Charlotte Gainsbourg. If you just looked at her photo you would see a mouse, but when you see her move and speak and get her persona she comes to life and is in fact a beauty.
a mouse jhgjhkhjk
A mouse??
I love french style, it's feminine and sophisticated yet simple, natural and easy going. Perfect look!
I love when she says “ Hey everyone, It’s Justine😁”
I feel good about myself
This is EXACTLY how my bestfriend and myself do our hair and makeup! I am an American raised by a German and a Rusian. She is Norwegian. I love culture and the descrepancies you find. I guess this is a very "European" look. I love it! I love your videos!
I love the info about make up and showing the skin. I have done my makeup without foundation for the first time in years today, and my skin looks great. My freckles aren't covered up and I look fresher. Thank you for my new look Justine! I'm going to invest in taking better care of my skin now :)
+Poniella81 that's great news, enjoy your new face! 😊
Congrats! I gave up makeup last year. I only do eyebrows now.
I think the most important thing about makeup is your eyebrows. If they are clean, well shaped, your face is immediately going to look better
I must say, Marion Cotillard is really really beautiful
A real pleasure to find you here - I have admired French women's style and self-care for decades. Truly enjoyable. Thank you.
Justine is like a put-together big sister we all want to have! Love your videos!! 💕
In the era of mask faced Kardashians this vedio is such a fresh breath of air!!
I agree completely!
i love pictures as well as the simple, clean instructions. simple for me is best. years ago my 'aunt' Natalie, at the time in her 90's, made the daily effort with makeup, hair and clothes. she went to work every day, even when only permitted part-time in her insurance business...we used to joke that her commitment set the unusual example for Galveston Island (TX) beach/tourist/bums whose main getup was shorts and flip-flops...i figured i got two out of three most of the time when I worked at UTMB (the main medical/nursing school and hospital) due to her example...even though she passed over ten years ago, her values make a difference. like Justine's reminder about food education habits, that template works everywhere.
Have you done a video on perfume? That would be nice. Thanks.
she did it now and it's fantastic!
It's about highlighting your personality.'
This should be emphasised more often!
Can you do a video on how you wrap (wear) your hair at night to avoid mattes and tangles?
di milosevic Use a soft scrunchie, stick it in a high bun and sleep on 22momme silk pillowcases. Simple.
New to your channel and I wanted to say it’s refreshing to see a UA-cam video promoting a persons natural features and not trying to change a persons look. So glad to have found your videos!
Hi Justine - How does Perisian chic change or maybe not change as a woman ages?
Good question, Colleen. I was going to ask the same.
Merci, je viens de découvrir vos vidéos. Ils sont intéressants et bien faits.
Persian or Parisian?
parisian means from paris
This is an awesome video. I LOVE skincare and sticking to a strict regimen of high spf every morning, then double cleanse with very gentle oil and cream cleanser at night, then thick moisturiser on damp skin, eye cream, serums then bed. Perfect.
I am really enjoying your videos & just subscribed. I know french culture well so it is so much fun to talk beauty, however not with everyone! No pretention with you, love your way of being☺ and my intuition tells me you are genuinely nice!
Please do make more of the French series videos. They are enlightening and informative as well.
Yeah I hate the copious amount of fake tan, self-tan and overdone make up British girls adorn over here :/ kinda sucks :/ I adore Parisian style
JoziGirl I'm American and I noticed that in British movies they perceive themselves this way I didn't know woman in the UK actually dressed like that.
Ps. I too admire the French for effortless elegance! Such perfection. Really enjoying these videos!
JoziGirl I can second almost all of this!!!
So glad I found your channel, I have unknowingly been doing my makeup in the "French" way for years, really since I moved away from the heavier makeup I wore in my twenties during the 1980s. I love that your videos are very relaxed and you appear so natural and unaffected. Keep the videos coming. Cheers
+Michele Brunskill thank you!! 🤗
Thank you Justine. Keep up the good work. Less is truly more in so many aspects of our lives. I love your videos.
This is such an eye opener, so true it's all about enhancing your best features
I'm french, and I confirm all the things Justine said! It's spot on
Thanks for your input!
I like how she said that its cool to skip foundation. I never used it and I see all make up bloggers using it EVERY time. It's actually bad for your skin. Too much product clogs pores and causes pimples and all sorts of other problems
You're the first person who has ever made me want to learn about make-up, hair and perfume. I love your videos.
+Vera Shelton oh thank you 😅
Just can't stop smiling while watching your video because of your warmest smile :-)
+Cathy Wong thaaanks 😘
Such an elegant talking, thoughtful and full of real life tips. I really appreciate and enjoy all your videos 😍
I think I was french in my previous life🤣 I do most of these things without being aware of this.
I feel like that too about France! I am originally from Russia, left 28 years ago and live in Israel since. Love Israel. But while visiting Paris or Strasbourg, I feel at home.
French style speaks to me the most
I do them too, no foundation
Neha Bharti most, if not all, Indians do this :)
@@kediavedu : actually in India its only after we start working we have some access to make up stuff otherwise it's just a cold cream some loose powder.....thats all....
Probably every indian in real life...😂😂😂
I love French style and make up. It's so natural yet elegant at the same time.
I love you channel... you are great and aren't pretentious :) love from India
+Aurora Lupetti you are very observant. Having coffee seated outside and looking at people walking by is my favorite activity when in Paris 😊😊😊
This fits with what saw when I was in Paris. Does it also apply to areas outside of Paris... in the country, or on the Mediterranean....
As we age, brows definitely need some adjustment so as not to look angry when your not and that includes tweezing the top. ha ha ha
LOL!!!!
Yeah that rule doenst apply to me either xd i inherited really wolf like brows from my dad and I I dint tweeze on top I look like an old angry man xd
Yeah I'm asian and fairly hairy. I need to trim the top of my eyebrows or I'll look like denis healey Lol
I have fuzzy' s as the beautician calls it. Above my eyebrows, so that's got to go. But keeping with the natural shape, height of your eye brows.
My style in make-up, jewellery, hair, fashion is all french- although i didnt copy it . İ made those choices and realised from here it was parisian styles. Simple, natural, classic and quality is what resonnates with me.
Love your channel!
Great video! You always make me smile :) Best wishes.
Although my favorite red lipstick isn't Chanel, it's Armani ;)
Also, do you want to make a video on fragrances? it's such a fun thing to discuss!
Here in Italy it's quite the same about wearing makeup :)
One must glow and have thick brows. lol
Few have the courage to be themselves.
The French skincare reminds of the Korean skincare.
I really like how French beauty is about being natural.
Hi Justine. For starters I probably wouldnt ever have been interested in fashion if I hadn’t found your channel. I learn so much from every video of yours. Thank you
what I always wanted to know is what do french women do if they have curly hair. leave it curly or not? btw love your videos very helpful
Sanne C They leave it curly & own it! 👍🏻
Your low gum line is really attractive. It definitely gives you an edgy look.
I think it's so interesting how when you speak english, you have an U.K-english accent intertwined with your french accent!...
+Maris Elizabeth 😅 some also say I have a German accent sometimes...
@@justineleconte , ha ha, I thought you were Scandinavian! Are you Norman?
I am adding this very late, but I learned as a foreign exchange student many years ago, in France, students are taught to speak English with a British accent.
You have a very infectious smile Justine. It is so interesting to see how women around the world groom themselves. In India, the beautician will 'thread' ( manipulate a thread with both hands to tweeze out unwanted hair) your eyebrows into shape. She would do it above and below the brow. This was in reference to how french women groom their eyebrows.
I love your sweater 😍
+Sofa Ⓥ thanks. It's from comptoir des cotonniers.
Extra virgin organic olive oil is WONDERFUL for the skin as a moisturizer also! Pure organic coconut oil and baking soda is a great cleanser.
Both oils contain natural sunscreen and loads of nutrients for the skin/body!
Great video but can we have advice for us older ladies please? 😕
