I have a 2022 X5m and I saw the new 5 series parked side by side to my car and literally the 5 series is longer than my x5m and almost as wide, so I am not surprised it weighs the same lol
@@booyoohouseBMW really screwed this Gen 5-series for the sake of their EV drivetrain.
Just like there is no longer a short wheelbase version of the 7-series to accommodate for the space the batteries in the i7 need. They made the wheelbase of the 5series extra long to fit the batteries in there, this gen 5 series has almost the same wheelbase as the last gen short wheelbase 7 series. So yea its heavy af and long.

You didn't know they did a name change to suit their primary customer..... BMW= Beijing Motor Works.
It's meant to look Chinese. They are the biggest market, which has a big influence on styling unfortunately.

The whole industry went the complete wrong direction, ICE cars should be focused on the driving experience, and that's something that you can't get with a car as heavy as some old tractors

Plus I literally said the numbers don't matter overall BECAUSE it's performance numbers will not stack up to the next generation model, and guess what, people are still talking about how good E30s drive, 3 decades later....
I am reserving all judgements on this generation of m5 until we get more details on the wagon which i think is gonna be the hero of this gen

@@JackV-tw8bw that's a fair point and a real issue for a sports sedan but for a wagon weight is the expectation. If we get a truly great sport wagon with a V8 in 2024 offered in the US I will call that a win.
The sedan is the hero, and Wagons hardly sells in the U.S. we're not even getting the m135i.

I hate new 5 series with so much passion. Front end look's like fwd, back line of the trunk is terrible and lamps are from Camry. Gosh I don't wanna be around cars anymore.

I went through this when they revealed the G80-82 M3/M4, lost all faith in BMW designs, sure they have the grunt, but I'm going Porsche instead of getting a new M car.

Nah, Bangle's E60 is on par with the new generation of ugliness, never grew on me. All other Bangle's designs still look good today, especially the coupes.

Nobody wants an M5 as a Plug In....the weight is outrageous. I mean as soon as you have a passenger, you have the same weight as driving a god damn Rolls Royce Phantom alone...in an M5!!!! But I dont even think it looks bad, also wouldve expected worse, but fully agree on the "height" part, it has the height of a 7 series or something in the front. Maybe putting the car down a bit and get the tires further out will already help with that feel, we will see
But I think we can probably now say for sure that the M5 peaked with the F90 2021. It will only go downhill from now on

I think that we’ve been spoiled with BMW designs in the past. I think this car will look better in person and can maybe grow on us like the M3/M4 eventually did, but who knows
The hybrid aspect is because the legislations. There are some cities where soon you will not be allowed to drive a car that is not atleast a hybrid. And you cannot make a high end super saloon without have it be allowed to drive through towns
The comments on the weight of the car … we get it. This thing is ridiculously heavy. Everyone needs to just wait on the driving impressions. It’s actually a very good looking car (especially for BMW recent styling faux pas). If you want a primary track car then this isn’t for you. If you want a 4 door performance car that can be your everyday commuter then this might be in play.

What BMW should've done with the new M5 is do something similar to what Chevy did with the Corvette E-Ray, where it's simply a mild hybrid system rather than a plug-in hybrid and the electric motors recharge themselves. In my humble opinion, the F90 M5, which came out in 2018 is the most beautiful out of all the M5 generations, specifically the facelift which came out in 2021 and we got the beast that is the M5 CS.

BMW is easily the leader of the B1G 3 in Germany. The chamfer below the headlight makes it.

And easily the ugliest one of the big 3. Audi for the win. Fastest suv on the ring, fastest compact car on the ring. Ad then design is spot on. Bmw has lost it. F90 CS was perfect. Everything else that came after it is piece of junk.
@@TheVerraton while the E-Tron GT is my favorite car to drive from any of the B1G 3, I think BMW has the more modernized lineup. Audi is letting the Q5 and Q7 age until the next decade.
The new continental gt gained around 200 kg (from 2.1 tons to 2.3) with 50 miles of ev range and 780 hp, compare that to this.
I like it, looks good on the inside and outside.

BMW didn't learn from their lesson of the XM, they went plug-in hybrid and made and absolute brute of a car that somehow weighs about the same as a **G63** **SUV**
The wider stance finally makes the G60 look good. The regular 5-series looks like it was squished or stretched into a pseudo X6.
Looks damn good. Now the weight, interior etc. is questionable, but that's the story with every new generation now. Most of the buyers of these vehicles had the same issues with the outgoing model and yet BMW sold more than ever.

Nevertheless, many cars for the U.S. market were equipped with bulky, massive, protruding bumpers to comply with the 5-mile-per-hour bumper standard in effect from 1973 to 1982. Really liking the new 5 series in general.

A Rolls Royce Phantom Coupe (the rare hardtop one) weighs only 400 lbs more than the New M5…… A 2013 Escalade weighs LESS than the new M5. Crazy how heavy new cars have gotten.
I legitimately don't know what's going on with BMW Design, but no one can convince me they know what they're doing when they intentionally decided to *not* surface the junction between the rear door and rear haunch.

I feel like the design would be perfect modern if they kept them more of a boxy rear fenders like the M2. It kind of harks back to the E30 M3 and not done that weird diaper thing down the middle of the rear diffuser. If you look at the original rendering it was a solid across and if they kept that it would be a perfect 10/10 modern BMW IMO

When you approach an M5 is like a matured car but you open the door only to find out you're in your son's room with all this annoying light shows. This car is supposed to be used my matured individuals it is not a playful car like the M3 and immature M2 so we stick to the old stuff.
I initially didn’t like the look on this M5 when it was first introduced during the week, but within days it’s starting to grow on me 😂. I really think most people would grow into it too. I heard BMW have literally cheated physics with this added weight
The fact it has 2 track modes...ain't no way anyone in their right mind will be taking that car to the track with how heavy it is. You'd be getting brake fade after one lap😂.
I hate the fake staggered wheels man... If you wanna make them staggered make the whole wheel staggered. Make the tire bigger in the back as well. Not just the rim and have the tire side wall smaller.

The F90 LCI is a beautiful, well crafted design...it's handsome, executive, aggressive and creates emotion...not sure on the design direction here...not a fan of the lit grill, the drl's and the huge m5 logo on the hofmeister kink is not necessary...the rear tail lights look like an amg gt 63 coupe...why? It's not the ///M5 I was anticipating...the interior has some nice lighting and branding elements on the headrest etc...but what's wrong with having a few tactile buttons for temperature control etc.? New HUD looks nicer...an attractive car but maybe the LCI will fix a number of things..hope the M division can fix the m3 with a more proportional grill and some more exciting tail lights and body lines. 🙏

I said it many times, but BMW is going backwards with their design, not forward. The cars just simply don't look great anymore.

I might be wrong but I have a theory that the designers of BMW literally started with cardbox design so as to eventually in the future make iconic cars that people will look back and think of the uniqueness of the cars, this will give them the notoriety in the future, and make themselves stand out. Slowly and surely, they are chipping of the sharp edges and slowly making the cars to have a little bit more of a shape.
What I think is cool is how the boxes are now looking like they have little of form. It could also be a way of them trying to reinvent themselves, or their design because they reached a peak, or they didn’t like how the design language was heading to so they decided to start again.
You compare them to Mercedes, I personally think some of their cars, especially the electric ones, have gone downhill. The design is there, but even though the lines are there, the symphony feels off. The GTs are quite the eye catchers. But the EQS horrible. I would take a Toyota crown before I i give the EQS a chance. But no matter how boxy the BMW looks, I will still take the crown, but it would be difficult.
