People say this about every new car now such a basic comment. GTA cars are based on real cars but modified a bit. New cars are often evolutions of previous cars of the brand so obviously there may be some similarities with GTA.

Nevertheless, once you run out of your electric battery charge (25-mile range), you are left with only 577 V8 horsepower to push a 5,368-pound car. What a disaster! And the rest, I am not sure where to go with it. What is up with not having a gear lever? I don’t think BMW is listening to their customers and clients anymore. Every interview they feed us a bunch of BS and the interviewers are afraid to ask tough questions. The BMW may fool new buyers, but not the BMW enthusiasts and the people who are loyal to the brand. You can’t fool us. Cheap plastic door panels, plastic carbon fiber-looking paddle shifts, and no carbon fiber steering. Yet, all of which is available on the M3 and M4 models. The rear diffuser truly looks like an afterthought. And the front kidney grill is identical to the i5 M60. What is joke! And I am sure BMW has increased the price beyond any measure to match the rest of the model lineups.
@@martinsvensson6884 It is a plug-in hybrid. The engine will NOT charge the battery, thus it needs to be plugged in. Nevertheless, I do agree with you that some people may not be going to use the 700HP, but pushing a 5,368-pound car with only 577 ICE power is slower than Mazda 6.
@@Steve-s3x 577hp is still going to be much faster than a Mazda 6 at speed. But its surely strange if you need to manually keep the car charged to get the 700hp..
Let’s face it, the best modern version of a BMW, Porsche, etc.. is a pre -Covid car (2017-2020). They built them with better materials, more options and with far less restrictions. As far as this M5, there isn’t enough carbon pack add-ons to reduce enough weird this fat pig. Adding any “M” performance add ons is a pure money maker for BMW. “M” stands for marketing and you see a lot of the same bits on the new X1 so forget any “exclusivity” or “full M “ bragging rights. Those days are gone. Stop championing “Hybrids and “EV”….Hybrids are destroying performance cars. Hybrids are not “cool” or “progressive thinking” but rather a serious compromise to catering to Government regulations. Thank God I already own some of greatest modern performance cars the Germans will ever make.
The grille design is better than the current M3/M4, but the entire front end just looks bloated and chunky. I like how older cars appear to have lower hoods, closer to the ground. I know that hoods need to be higher now for pedestrian crash regulations, but still... The front end just looks huge. The front overhang looks really big too. It looks more like a tank than a sleek sports sedan.
I don't want it because of the looks. It has a power to weight ratio similar to the E60 and is slower than the previous generation. But the looks aren't good either and I like a lot of the new BMWs.
I no longer feel like an M5. I think it has become like a 7 Series, and it no longer has any sporty character, and its weight is very heavy, even though it is not electric. Everyone does not want luxury from the M5, but rather wants performance❤
As soon as battery is flat - which with a 25-mile range, won’t be long, you’ll be lugging around 300-400kg of dead battery and motor and expecting the engine to do all the work. Great idea. And 2500kg - really??? Hardly in keeping with the ‘M’, racing appeal.😢
This car does not deserve the M logo 2600kg???? (only 1200kg more than first M535 :) . Outside design is ok, but inside looks like most car these days. "hey lets put some screens from temu on a straight line and call it interior design". BMW used to make great interiors but now like the rest of the market, they give us some of the worst interior designs.
If you think about this car as an isolated one, without the previous outgoing model in mind then it looks good and strong but the problem is that there is this gorgeous outgoing predecessor model where in comparison the current one looks like a step back for the brand. Sad times
I own a 22 F90 competition. An amazing car! There was no better way for BMW to completely ruin such a beautiful car! Engine, weight, body shape and size, rear diffuser have all gone south with this G90! So sorry to observe this!
I love the fact that it's a hybrid, because the car can be used as a daily much easier, but this can is heavier than the electric i5 M60, which seems crazy. They could have added a smaller battery, just for like 30km electric driving for daily commutes.
Problem is, nobody had issues with livability in the last one, so it’s solving a problem that doesn’t exist for m5 buyers at least. If increased daily livability is what one seeks, don’t buy an M5 there are other 5 series better suited to that task. When u try to be everything to everyone you end up with a compromised, bloated boat anchor parading itself as a “sports car” which this is anything but. Previous m5s were famous and popular because they Didn’t pander to every buyer. This homogenization of car design philosophy is killing the entire enthusiast class.
Honestly, I like how it looks, especially in that green. Shame that cars have to weigh so much but that's how it is these days and I'm sure BMW still managed to make it drive like one. Also, just curious, how many days before the embargo dropped did you get to film the car?
Looking at the regulatory perspective i can understand why they made it perform the same with the outgoing model. Honestly they could have made it quicker but the emission they have to cut through is insane especially the upcoming Euro 7 regulations. That said, even with heavier weight they do have improvements on handling, steering, and overall experience. So stats wise it might be a letdown but lets see on other aspects that made this a motorsport car. Though the design... they could have done it better And with the upcoming porsche 911 hybrid, there is no excuse to have that much weight since i expect that too will be Euro 7 compliant
They are even trying to make customers pay for a headlight feature on subscription yearly. All it does it dim or adjust the headlights when there is oncoming traffic but the car already has all the hardware fitted but to activate it they want yku to pay for it.
So the only reamaining good looking BMW is the 3 series? The non-M 3 series. I went to Germany a few months ago, and they were everywhere. No wonder why.
True M models are made to be able to drive on track. Can one confidently drive fast on the track with a car which weighs more than 2400kg? Sure, the active M-suspention can keep the car stable in curves, but did anyone try breaking with such a heavy car on a wet surface? M models are designed to be lighter then serial model counterparts, and this M5 is actually heavier than the regular 5 series. Specifically, M5 was conceptualised to be a practical track ready vehicle, and the new M5 has trunk space of only 470 liters, 60 leters less than the previous generation. To me this seems to be like a step back for the M5 model.
This pulsing turn signals are fucking dumb. Why have regular turn signal lights on the mirrow caps and pulsing ones on the headlights. Just looks like the car is broken 😂 Germans bro
When I look at the competitor: Mercedes Amg GT 63 S e performance. It has got 843 hp, 1.470 Nm and weighs 2.380 kg. 2.8 seconds 0 to 100. Even the new M5 Competition probably won‘t get there. Quite deceiving.
Um, not so crazy about the new design but that Isle of Man Green , tartufo combo looks very nice . The interior is nice but at 2,5 tonnes it is a very heavy car . Animal skin is the best thing natural and breathing all other options is simply plastic/rubber and green marketing of manufacturers for cost savings. And this is not only about bmw other producers are the same
If only put in there hybrid system like in the new 911gts - small battery, electric turbo (which is interesting bmw was working on back in 2010/11) car wpuld be around 2tons not 2,4t… And for the interior everything it’s kinda ok but those ultra wide double screnn and lack of physical control panel for clima just ruins it. It’s premium ffs, I dont mind cheap solution with cheaper segment, but for paying extra i would like to feel car extra. But those screens its like maybe is a cheaper solution but pay us extra coz bmw…
I honestly like it. I’m sure it looks way better and way more beastly in person. The interior dash, steering wheel looks awesome. As always hate touch and losing physical buttons.
This car looks fantastic apart from the pulsing turning lights!! I have seen new gen BMWs with pulsing turning signals on road. They are standout✅ but look kind of weird ❌❌❌

having driven the new 7/5/3Series and a current owner of a 2018 M550, the problem for me on the new generation BMW's continues to be the ergonomics; iDrive and haptic controls on the center console are not intuitive and its not like you can run your fingers across the black slab to know what button to hit; for a grand action such as putting the car in gear, the tab lever is almost apologetic in size; the double whammy of crystal iDrive control and piano black slab means a very annoying reflection a certain sun angles. Audi probably still has the best interior up and down the line even though that great double stack haptic screen set up has been around for a while.
Wish that "727 horse power" were generated by pure gasoline engine only exactly like a koeinigsegg ccxr but no BMW wanted to ruin everything and go electric hybrid GOD DHAMMIT.
BMW which takes pride in being known as a sports car , the speedometer design is like an elongated ipad stuck on to the dash board. Previous normal design would have been more appropriate. hope BMW go back to the previous design .

Spot on i hate that piano black trim on any car always scratched up. If BMW from factory had put PPF on it that would be another story😄

I think the battery is kept charged by the engine though.. Youre probably not going to use all +700 hp constantly..

@@martinsvensson6884 It is a plug-in hybrid. The engine will NOT charge the battery, thus it needs to be plugged in. Nevertheless, I do agree with you that some people may not be going to use the 700HP, but pushing a 5,368-pound car with only 577 ICE power is slower than Mazda 6.

But its surely strange if you need to manually keep the car charged to get the 700hp..
This car should not have any gloss plastic nor Neon light on the nose. Only Carbon and 700 HP engine only out of the new S68 powerplant
Let’s face it, the best modern version of a BMW, Porsche, etc.. is a pre -Covid car (2017-2020). They built them with better materials, more options and with far less restrictions. As far as this M5, there isn’t enough carbon pack add-ons to reduce enough weird this fat pig. Adding any “M” performance add ons is a pure money maker for BMW. “M” stands for marketing and you see a lot of the same bits on the new X1 so forget any “exclusivity” or “full M “ bragging rights. Those days are gone.
Stop championing “Hybrids and “EV”….Hybrids are destroying performance cars. Hybrids are not “cool” or “progressive thinking” but rather a serious compromise to catering to Government regulations.
Thank God I already own some of greatest modern performance cars the Germans will ever make.

Too much XM influence. They really mucked it up.
The grille design is better than the current M3/M4, but the entire front end just looks bloated and chunky. I like how older cars appear to have lower hoods, closer to the ground. I know that hoods need to be higher now for pedestrian crash regulations, but still... The front end just looks huge. The front overhang looks really big too. It looks more like a tank than a sleek sports sedan.
Give me a restored e39 all day, every day, any day.

Facts
I don't want it because of the looks. It has a power to weight ratio similar to the E60 and is slower than the previous generation. But the looks aren't good either and I like a lot of the new BMWs.

I no longer feel like an M5. I think it has become like a 7 Series, and it no longer has any sporty character, and its weight is very heavy, even though it is not electric. Everyone does not want luxury from the M5, but rather wants performance❤
As soon as battery is flat - which with a 25-mile range, won’t be long, you’ll be lugging around 300-400kg of dead battery and motor and expecting the engine to do all the work. Great idea.

This car does not deserve the M logo 2600kg???? (only 1200kg more than first M535 :) . Outside design is ok, but inside looks like most car these days. "hey lets put some screens from temu on a straight line and call it interior design". BMW used to make great interiors but now like the rest of the market, they give us some of the worst interior designs.
Remember when BMW actually made high quality interiors? The previous generation looks so much more expensive and premium.

If you think about this car as an isolated one, without the previous outgoing model in mind then it looks good and strong but the problem is that there is this gorgeous outgoing predecessor model where in comparison the current one looks like a step back for the brand. Sad times
I own a 22 F90 competition. An amazing car! There was no better way for BMW to completely ruin such a beautiful car! Engine, weight, body shape and size, rear diffuser have all gone south with this G90! So sorry to observe this!

I love the fact that it's a hybrid, because the car can be used as a daily much easier, but this can is heavier than the electric i5 M60, which seems crazy. They could have added a smaller battery, just for like 30km electric driving for daily commutes.
Problem is, nobody had issues with livability in the last one, so it’s solving a problem that doesn’t exist for m5 buyers at least. If increased daily livability is what one seeks, don’t buy an M5 there are other 5 series better suited to that task. When u try to be everything to everyone you end up with a compromised, bloated boat anchor parading itself as a “sports car” which this is anything but. Previous m5s were famous and popular because they Didn’t pander to every buyer. This homogenization of car design philosophy is killing the entire enthusiast class.
Glad its still rocking a V8, but 500 kg heavier is a no no... Its as heavy as a full size SUV, makes no sense.

Honestly, I like how it looks, especially in that green. Shame that cars have to weigh so much but that's how it is these days and I'm sure BMW still managed to make it drive like one. Also, just curious, how many days before the embargo dropped did you get to film the car?
Looking at the regulatory perspective i can understand why they made it perform the same with the outgoing model. Honestly they could have made it quicker but the emission they have to cut through is insane especially the upcoming Euro 7 regulations. That said, even with heavier weight they do have improvements on handling, steering, and overall experience.
So stats wise it might be a letdown but lets see on other aspects that made this a motorsport car.

They are even trying to make customers pay for a headlight feature on subscription yearly. All it does it dim or adjust the headlights when there is oncoming traffic but the car already has all the hardware fitted but to activate it they want yku to pay for it.

True M models are made to be able to drive on track. Can one confidently drive fast on the track with a car which weighs more than 2400kg? Sure, the active M-suspention can keep the car stable in curves, but did anyone try breaking with such a heavy car on a wet surface? M models are designed to be lighter then serial model counterparts, and this M5 is actually heavier than the regular 5 series. Specifically, M5 was conceptualised to be a practical track ready vehicle, and the new M5 has trunk space of only 470 liters, 60 leters less than the previous generation. To me this seems to be like a step back for the M5 model.

I think it looks great. The weight, however, is an issue. More power is good, less weight is better.
When I look at the competitor: Mercedes Amg GT 63 S e performance. It has got 843 hp, 1.470 Nm and weighs 2.380 kg. 2.8 seconds 0 to 100. Even the new M5 Competition probably won‘t get there. Quite deceiving.
With PHEV, I think the performance number should also be quoted when the battery is flat. PHEV is essentially Part-time HP Enhanced Vehicle
I now know why when the M5 was unveiled in a dark, matte colour, many said they didn't like the look.

If only put in there hybrid system like in the new 911gts - small battery, electric turbo (which is interesting bmw was working on back in 2010/11) car wpuld be around 2tons not 2,4t…
And for the interior everything it’s kinda ok but those ultra wide double screnn and lack of physical control panel for clima just ruins it. It’s premium ffs, I dont mind cheap solution with cheaper segment, but for paying extra i would like to feel car extra. But those screens its like maybe is a cheaper solution but pay us extra coz bmw…

This car looks fantastic apart from the pulsing turning lights!! I have seen new gen BMWs with pulsing turning signals on road. They are standout✅ but look kind of weird ❌❌❌

having driven the new 7/5/3Series and a current owner of a 2018 M550, the problem for me on the new generation BMW's continues to be the ergonomics; iDrive and haptic controls on the center console are not intuitive and its not like you can run your fingers across the black slab to know what button to hit; for a grand action such as putting the car in gear, the tab lever is almost apologetic in size; the double whammy of crystal iDrive control and piano black slab means a very annoying reflection a certain sun angles. Audi probably still has the best interior up and down the line even though that great double stack haptic screen set up has been around for a while.

BMW which takes pride in being known as a sports car , the speedometer design is like an elongated ipad stuck on to the dash board. Previous normal design would have been more appropriate. hope BMW go back to the previous design .
