Ingredients:
* 4 oz. witch hazel
* 120 drops Nature Shield essential oil blend OR
* 84 drops Shield Me essential oil blend
Instructions:
1. Put essential oils into spray bottle.
2. Add witch hazel to fill bottle.
3. Shake well.

Thank you so much for the great recipe! I decided, for the children's recipe to dilute the shield me EO to 2% for skin safety for the age of my child. Worked like a charm!

4oz of witch hazel
Articles I've read state that witch hazel, being an astringent, works as a carrier oil.

sorry, you need an emulsifier to bind the oil and water together
Witch Hazel is primarily a water-based product that also will not hold essential oils. You can find witch hazel that contains alcohol, but it does not contain enough of it to dilute or emulsify the essential oils
I shake it before I use it each time and it works great :)
You can also add a tablespoon of vodka. It won’t be enough to get you drunk. Safer than rubbing alcohol too as it’s ingestible.

Yes! In the adult blend, Nature Shield, there are Citronella, Geranium Egyptian, Lemongrass, Eucalyptus Globulus, Lavender, Tea Tree, and Patchouli, Cedarwood Virginian and Catnip essential oils. In the kid safe blend, there are Citronella, Grapefruit Pink, Geranium Bourbon, Rosalina and Patchouli essential oils. 😊

Mmm, wonder if it works on chiggers? Everything I have made so far that is natural does NOT work on chiggers, which we are plagued with in North Texas,😫

Thank you for sharing this so well needed recipe! I have a question, I’ve always heard that essencial oils need to be diluted in a carrier oil like coconut oil for instance, in this recipe the carrier is the witch hazel, and that is not an oil right? So does that work as a carrier as well? Is it safe to dilute the EO in it? Thank you in advance! :)

We reapply it when we feel like we need to, around 30 minutes to an hour.
