I live in Houston and there is nothing worse than putting your AC on a comfortable 68 degrees, only to wake up sweating because the thermostat thought 80 was more ideal temperature. Thank you so much 😊
I’m having this exact problem! It’s too hot in Houston for my thermostat to keep turned to 76 when it’s 100 outside! It thinks no one is home when we’re all ASLEEP
I want to thank you for putting out this video the learning nest was driving my wife crazy because the temperature was all over the place and now that I watch your video and program successfully my wife is smiling from ear to ear
Thanks. My wife doesn't know how to use this so when she's cold she disables the A/C by just turning the temp ring to full 90 degrees. This was throwing off all of the algorithms. LOL! Followed your instructions and now we're all at peace !
Thank You! I came home yesterday and my house was 86 degrees just because nest didn't detect anyone in house while I was at work for 10+ hours! And then it took hours to cool down to 73. I never want my house to get hotter than 79. Smart my a......
Gracias. Our thermostat is behind a door, so Nest never thinks we are home and the thermostat goes down to 60! We live in Nebraska, USA (COLD winters) so we have been freezing since install because of this irritating feature. I see the vision Nest had, but turns out I'm a finicky human, so I want to figure out my ideal heat on my own. So glad to find this video and solve our problem!
I had disabled the Auto Learn feature through the app on my phone, but the Nest continued to change temperature rapidly. You showed that I ALSO need to reset the history of the thermostat (Nest Actual) Auto-Learn on the unit itself. The message boards I researched I did not see this step, and it is imperative. Thank you for this. You show the way.
I did as you suggested, and in the app the history is still there! I've done this four times. I even turned off the home/away feature. In another three days, it will start resetting itself. Suggstions?
Thanks for the simple explanation and fix. You would think the numerous hvac technicians we’ve called out from reliance would’ve been able to do this simple thing but no we’ve been dealing with this problem for years and they had no clue what they were doing.
Yes, THANK YOU! You Tube to the rescue once again! I kept deleting the "memorized settings" only to have them reappear! Today I turned the thermostat up to 76 only to have NEST turn it back down to 70!! Thanks, again for the VERY helpful video!
Same thing here. I wonder how many divorces this thing has caused? LOL. The worst thing you can do is to let all of your family members know about the phone app and then lock them out from using it when things get crazy.
Thanks. What an annoying feature. I try to set the temperature range manually and the schedule overrides me. I try to edit the schedule but it's tedious to do so, and even when I edit it, it turns out it automatically overrides me.
Third time this week we woke up to 51° !! Just got the electric bill yesterday too, instead of our normal $150ish averages , $385.91. Wtf!!! This thing was supposed to SAVE us money!! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you 🙏
Crazy Nest. I'm surprised they didn't think that the incredibly amount of time likely invested into their predictive programming was bound to be flawed and irritate the heck out of people. "A" for overall design and build quality and "C- / D+" for over designing the software and user experience.
Thank you so much for the instructions! Google could not explain in his manuals (3 generations) how to use the Dummy Thermostat manually, but you did it!
Thanks. Good explanation. I was getting ready to rip off and throw away this crap from google. I will probably still replace it with the one that doesn't think it knows better than I do.
I have had the problem with auto schedule for years... Thanks for posting the cure. I did it, now can we come up with a way that Nest does not wait for 2 to 3 degrees to come on. I am sensitive to cold and I am always telling my Amazon to turn the temp up or down, to get it to come on.
I just filled up with oil at $951.00. I don't want to complain, when Ukraine is on fire, but I really appreciated this video to show me how to turn off this auto schedule so I can keep my heat down and save oil. THANKS SO MUCH!! So easy to follow! And your joke was funny........
Man, you are a lifesaver! I couldn't figure out why my thermostat kept changing the temperature, and I've corrected the problem now everything is working how I like it.
finally, I loved coming home and having the thermostat think that 84 •F is fine when I set it to 70 it felt like every time I went out of my way to wave my hand in front of it or walk past it, I caught it with its pants down "oh snap! was I supposed to be doing my job?" just about went out and bought a cheap one so it would actually maintain a temp many thanks
There are so many things I love about the nest thermostat - it's so, so close to being perfect... but one thing I can't wrap my head around is why they do not have some type of 'temporary hold' feature for the inevitable occasions where you do not want to use auto-schedule. Just a temporary 'hold' option to bypass auto-schedule - problem solved. It's maddening! I feel like I'm fighting with the nest for control of the house when I want to do a hold - it just seems so silly to not have an override feature.
Omg! Thank you! Somehow the auto schedule was on and the temperature in the master bedroom is at 67 and the rest of the house is at 73. I just turned everything off and see if it works. So far the heater has been on going for about 45 minutes.
Thank so much. I thought I was going mad. Kept thinking who keeps changing the schedule settings? Its a great idea, if it works. I believe its supposed to take account of outside temperature. Anyway thanks to your help I'm back in control and no more heating coming on in the middle of the day when its not needed.
Hi, I am having an issue with auto schedule on my Nest. My option are YES or NO - no OFF. selecting NO followed by done and then resetting as per your clear instructions I find the auto schedule consistently reverts to YES! Any help would be much appreciated. Many thanks

Is there any way to just turn on one of two schedules without having to schedule it for the week. eg. On day heat comes on at 4am another schedule having it come on at 9am? I work a rotating schedule.
Thank you for explain!
