The video itself was good. The only thing I would change is to define what an eco temperature is. The main complaints below were about the complexity of the Nest system. This seems to be a recurring issue that companies have not figured out in general. Systems need to have TWO operating modes. One is the feature rich mode for those who like to control every detail. This thermostat does very well in that arena. There also needs to be a Simple Use mode. As one gentleman wrote...when you have to go online to figure it out you know convenience of high tech has gone out the window. Thermostats are one thing that everyone will use, from young to elderly. And many people also just want simple as they have simple routines in life. My air conditioning repairman was quite familiar with seeing these, but had no idea how to set it. So they are NOT intuitive. So this is what you do, NEST. 1. Survey 100-500 people who want a simple mode as to what are the main features are they want. Then make a simple mode of maybe 3-4 features. Make it INTUITIVE....which plainly means, you can easily figure it out by just looking at it. Then again, after you design it, have another 500 people try it with NO instructions. If 80% of the people can do it with ease, you are good. If not, back to the drawing board. You MUST test it on people who have never seen it before. And for god sakes, include some simple directions on a piece of paper in good simple English. These black and white drawings without words are just as bad as the translations into English we used to get back in the 80s of Japanese products.

Spot on. Damn, you should design UI's for computers. How you think, is how I think and design stuff. And, yes, I have a NEST and it just got installed. And, it keeps thinking too damn much. My wife set it up, and I thought she did an okay job. But, it keeps changing temperatures and goes to weird ones. Yes, I want it to just let me set a temperature and hold that. Then, when I leave, I change it to higher temp and it hold that. This way -- it saves money and is really all we need. But, everything you said is a perfect analysis of what NEST needs to do.

I actually moved into a house with a nest thermostat and I hate it. It feels like it has a mind of its own no matter how much I mess with it. I’m fairly tech savvy but I much prefer a “regular ole thermostat.”
I feel like the learning technology is on beneficial to those who live in an area with consistent weather. I live in the Midwest. One day it’s cold another it’s hot, so just because I turn town the temp in the evening one night does not mean I need it doing that every night.

For example, I set the temp to 23, it is going back to 24-25 and it does not heat then. Before it was heating every 15 mins. I looked everywhere but can't find any clue how it works. My humidifier also requires furnace blower to work a couple minutes after humidifier switches off automatically to distribute all the moisture collected in the duct. If blower stops the same time with mist humidifier moisture still will sit inside plenum and makes it rust. Will this Humidifier Control have this setting so furnace blower work few minutes after humidifier switched off??

Then when I actually leave I guess it somehow knows I’m gone and when I get home the house is an oven! It then takes 1 hour to cool the home. One day I had a headache (which I never get) then I realized it’s cuz I came home to a freakin oven. I’m starting to wish I had my old thermostat back!

I really really dislike the nest. My son talked me into buying it. Regret this purchase. My old thermostat was just fine!

Really dislike this thermostat. Basic instructions would be nice. Would never have had it installed but Tesla installed it when we go solar & the instructions promised never materialized

So it’s basically a smart thermostat like the ones that come with hoax units??? Setting weekly programs for heat, fans or cool??? $250??
    No thanks

That's just the beginning. The Nest is much more unpredictable than a simple thermostat with a timer.

Why painfully stutter through a teleprompter in order to show your face when you could just show your hand, nest, and phone?
    So distracting and entirely unnecessary.

You talk too fast and when you show distinctive points about the nest, you should slow that down as well. I had to rewind several times. Thank you though for the video.
