    "Dune is a 1965 science-fiction novel by American author Frank Herbert, originally published as two separate serials in Analog magazine. It tied with Roger Zelazny's This Immortal for the Hugo Award in 1966, and it won the inaugural Nebula Award for Best Novel. It is the first installment of the Dune saga; in 2003, it was cited as the world's best-selling science fiction novel.
    Dune is set in the distant future amidst a feudal interstellar society in which various noble houses control planetary fiefs. It tells the story of young Paul Atreides, whose family accepts the stewardship of the planet Arrakis. While the planet is an inhospitable and sparsely populated desert wasteland, it is the only source of melange, or "the spice," a drug that extends life and enhances mental abilities. Melange is also necessary for space navigation, which requires a kind of multidimensional awareness and foresight that only the drug provides. As melange can only be produced on Arrakis, control of the planet is thus a coveted and dangerous undertaking. The story explores the multi-layered interactions of politics, religion, ecology, technology, and human emotion, as the factions of the empire confront each other in a struggle for the control of Arrakis and its spice."
    "Dune is an upcoming epic science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve with a screenplay by Jon Spaihts, Villeneuve, and Eric Roth. The film is an international co-production of Canada, Hungary, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It is the first of a planned two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert, which will cover roughly the first half of the book. The film stars an ensemble cast including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.
    Dune is scheduled to be premiered at the 78th Venice International Film Festival and released theatrically in the United States in 3D on October 22, 2021 by Warner Bros. Pictures with a simultaneous release on the HBO Max streaming service for 31 days."
    "Dune: Part Two is an upcoming American epic science fiction film directed by Denis Villeneuve from a screenplay by Villeneuve, Jon Spaihts, and Eric Roth. Serving as a direct sequel to the 2021 film, it is the second of a two-part adaptation of the 1965 novel Dune by Frank Herbert and will cover roughly the second half of the book. Returning cast members from the first film include Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem. New cast members include Florence Pugh, Austin Butler, Léa Seydoux, and Christopher Walken.
    Development began after Legendary Entertainment acquired film and TV rights for Dune in 2016. Villeneuve signed on as director for the film in 2017, with the intention of making a two-part adaptation of the novel. Production contracts were only secured for a first film, with the second film having to be green-lit based on the first's success. Though Villeneuve was concerned about the sequel's certainty after the first film had a simultaneous theatrical and HBO Max release, Warner Bros. assured him the sequel would happen if it performed well on HBO Max. After the critical and commercial success of the first film, Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment green-lit the film in October 2021. Filming began in July 2022 in Budapest, with pre-shooting taking place in the Brion tomb at Altivole, Italy earlier that month.
    Dune: Part Two is set to be released on November 3, 2023."
    "Dune Messiah is a 1969 science fiction novel by American writer Frank Herbert, the second in his Dune series of six novels. A sequel to Dune (1965), it was originally serialized in Galaxy magazine in 1969, and then published by Putnam the same year. Dune Messiah and its own sequel Children of Dune (1976) were collectively adapted by the Sci-Fi Channel in 2003 into a miniseries entitled Frank Herbert's Children of Dune."

    Only through hubristic and nescient Western eyes that a magnificently great and profoundly compassionate leader to his people such Genghis Khan is viewed in the same light as Hitler and his atrocities. But then again, how can tadpoles fully comprehend how mighty eagles soar through the skies?

    I think the film in some ways is better than the books. I also wasn't confused at all. I've heard takes like Paul isn't an anti hero and I don't understand the marrsge to the emperor daughter.
    Isn't this obvious or are the audience this pathetic at reading between the lines.

    This movie needs to include chani had Paul's twins they are born, paul walk out onto the desert, chani dies, the consoiracy, and irulans part of the conspiracy and her redemption and paul getting blinded by stone burner and alia made Regent til twins are of age and hawt glola duncan idaho, these things have to happen otherwise ur just butchering the story.

  • @Maxiius

    Easy, we find out chani is pregnant before she left and now either tries to return or Paul goes back to arrakis for something. That would add an extra layer of tension to the character dynamic to fill out more of the runtime.

    • @HamzaBoujelouah
      @HamzaBoujelouah  6 місяців тому +4

      Nah, that wouldn't work for me. That feels more like a teen-drama type of angle and not in line with Frank Herbert's epic scale. Paul and Chani will reunite, and she probably will get corrupted... How? I don't know and it bothers me.

    • @Maxiius
      @Maxiius 6 місяців тому +1

      @@HamzaBoujelouah Oh I agree with you but I think Denis Villeneuve could use it to cause tension without it feeling like a teen drama but still bring the children into the picture.

      @@HamzaBoujelouah You see Chani wearing a blue Nezhoni scarf in Part two which is noted by Herbet in his books that Fremen women wear this when they've had newborn sons. It absolutely makes sense that DV would use this to tease Chani being pregnant.

    You reckon they'll change Dune Messiah to have a happier conclusion where Paul will realise the evil he's spreading and find a way to end it? Speaking as someone who hasn't read the books but knows this is meant to be a tragedy.

    • @HamzaBoujelouah
      @HamzaBoujelouah  6 місяців тому

      NO. If they do, I will hate that. Part of the magic of Dune Messiah is that it is a depressing epilogue. I also think Denis, whilst making changes, will stick to the core elements of Messiah... At least he better.

    Maybe it could be like this:
    the beginning of the movie could show how Chani's pregnancy brings her back to Paul and the beginning of the war and how Paul tries to control the spice production
    Then we can have a Time Skip and see the effects of all of Paul's choices and how Alia becomes who she is
    They could also wrap up the stories of Jessica Gurney and Stilgar
    The movie can end with an open ended interpretation of what happens to Paul when he disappears and how it's up to his kids to take over eventually
    I don't really see Duncan Idaho fitting in here much or maybe Dennis could make his character a little simpler or something

    I know lots of marriages and relationships where the folks involved don’t like each other very much anymore but stay together because it is practical. It could be that Chani thinks that being with Paul and being part of his court is still better for Arrakis and their children than any alternatives.

    I reakon he won't put that word of dialogue in I'll be surprised to be honest. So much dialogue from the novel of dune is missing there is some but not much at all over both films

    • @HamzaBoujelouah

      That is true... But like... He kind of has to with that line from Messiah. That would be like not including the litany against fear in first two films.

  • @Stamboul
    @Stamboul 6 місяців тому +4

    Jessica is on Caladan in Messiah, right? And Chani in Part 2 wasn't particularly fond of how Jessica manipulated her people. Maybe he sends his mother off Arrakis (or lets her leave but makes it look like she was sent off) as a peace offering to Chani.
    But on a more general note, I think the next film will lean into how little actual control Paul has over the jihad he's unleashed and the religious establishment built around him. Imagine his inquisitors arresting some old fedaykin friend for contradicting some minor tenet of the faith and Paul confronting them about it. Hell, imagine if it's Chani herself that he has to save from "his" forces. And I think that may be key to how he wins Chani back. She has to mentally separate him from the evil around him, see him less as a Machiavellian figure and more as a tragic one (though in truth he's long been a mix of both).
    On top of that, if the film has Paul winning Chani back after he's foreseen that being with him will get her killed... that just makes him a hell of a lot less sympathetic, doesn't it?

    As somebody who hasn’t read the book, I like the idea of Chani as the antithesis to Paul. Somebody who sticks to their morals no matter what. So, considering that I’ve heard the story of dune getting worse and worse and the war getting worse with no end (I’m not sure exactly, I haven’t read to the book), I’m thinking maybe Denis is using Chani as the story’s moral anchor so that the story can have some sort of resolution by the end of the trilogy.

    • @azmodanpc

      Yeah but maybe they will put their first child being killed and having it one of the reason they reunite and at the end the twins being born will be the coda when Paul walks in the desert blind

    I think there will be an 18 year time gap between Part Two and Messiah. Simply because a 12 year old Alia getting it on with Jason Mamoa would be rightfully unpalatable.

      I think so long as the changes aren't radically different, I could be fine with them. Similar to how Denis handled the Baron's death in Part Two... I'm fine with it. I would have preferred what happens in the book with Alia, but for Part Two it works.

      What you are saying does not make sense. Do you think it’s healthy for Hollywood to cast 16 year olds for these parts. I sure as hell would love for Hollywood to stay the hell away from kids. Look around, have you paid any attention to the past 10 years. You have to think about what you are saying. Let costumes and makeup make adults look younger, we don’t need kids in Hollywood.
