2024….and I still come back to this often. It’s THE best song of hope I can recommend to anyone, regardless if their familiar. How hasn’t this become a stage production yet???
It is now 2020 and I’m only 15 but I still remember waking up in 07 and asking my mom to play this movie. I would probably watch it 3 times a day and at the time understood nothing but I thought Kristy McNichol was so cute and loved the story. Every time I feel stressed I come to this video and I think to myself everything is fine, I will have a happy ending 😂. I love the 80’s even tho I was born in 04!😂
@@mishthemaverick8607 Well, then it's my turn: That's exactly what I have hearing since I first saw this back in '82 and watched more than a few times on HBO...and I have the BETA, VHS, and DVD all packed away, unopened...
does anyone else think watching this as a kid has reflected upon their current positive outlook on life? things just seemed so much more simple. i love this :) i hope your all awesome
Hahaha, I'm glad you figured it out. It takes everyone a little faster or longer to figure it out. I'm glad I could post this for all the fans of the film who are like you. Have good memories of their own with it to enjoy.
All these years later, this is STILL one of my favorite films of all time!!! I bought the DVD as soon as it was available!! Watched it hundreds of times as a kid. Always cheers me up!!!
Omg, the movie came out when I was in the 4th grade. I loved this song from the first time I heard it in the 5th grade I learned the words from cable tv on the weekend it was in rotation. And I still love it till this day and im over 50
Extremely jealous you were able to find this soundtrack. Thank you for sharing. It was a favorite of mine as a kid. We could not go to the video store without renting this movie. I was surprised my parents didn't just buy it. I found it on DVD & rewatched it as a adult. It was so corny & yet, it brought back so many memories. It's a go-to movie when I need a pick me up & I probably love it more now than I did as a kid. Thanks again!!
It's my pleasure, I'm glad you enjoy it. Please don't be jealous, just peak into the bargain bins at your local department stores, you might find some treasures like this one inside for really good prices.
Thank you so much! I only got back into this movie about 6 months ago after not seeing it since the early 80's. I always remembered the 'I want a happy ending' song. Tried looking for the cd, but doesnt seem to exist. Only the original album. Was psyched when I saw these here and they were cd quality.
Thanks for your comment Doug, I'm glad I could share this with you. I actually do have the CD but I believe it's out of print these days. If you really want a copy, try looking on Amazon or Ebay. There are also some sites where you can request some "hard to find" videos and CD's from collectors and they often sell for normal retail instead of "collectors" prices, so it worth just asking.
I can't believe how many ties I have to this damn movie: 1) My Dad grew up with one of the women who played a sister in the film 2) My Great Aunt's close friend married Christopher Atkins and 3) My DNA says I'm potentially from Penzance, where the original story was set The irony will never be lost on me cause I think this movie rules, crazy coincidences aside!
+Emzie 2000 Wow, that's a lot of coincidences, too many to ignore. I'm glad I can share this with you and all the other fans. Thanks for sharing this with us!
This music with sense and talent was found just in the 80s. Now we listen stupid crap with negative messages or shit. We need to go back to those times, where life was simple and people were positive and lovely.
+Nicksatrip No "MY"project...I was just a kid, and a bit-part player...The older folk in the show were WONDERFUL, however, and we were all very happy with the performances!
+Douglas Baker If you participated, then it was just as much yours as anyones! Your contribution mattered too even if you didn't choose the music. You helped make the production a success therfore it belongs to you just as much.
> If you didn't see the tragic ending to this 1982 movie at the theater; with this sudden plot twist at the very end. You can't appreciate the emotional impact that this song can have on your being. - I bought the LP record album after the show just to have & hear that song for years after. > 🎶 🗣" *GIVE ME A HAPPY ENDING, (movie) EVERY TIME!* " 🎶
This song brings tears to my eyes. I dunno, maybe I just miss the 80's & Kristy McNichol so much. So many memories just fly past and I want so desperately to grab one ride it back in time.
Why they refuse to play such classic films like The Pirate Movie on pay tv, netflix or free tv is beyond me its always the same shite. I understand nowa days they call movies that didnt chart well at cinemas $ bin DVDs but the Pirate Move isn’t $ bin its just a misunderstood and it was competing against some heavy weight movies at the time. But if this film could be more respected i bet it could become as popular as other films from its time.

Ironic how they sing, "no more minor keys", and this song is FULL of minor keys. That's why I LOVE it. :-)
Ha Ha I never knew that. And I thought maybe they were singing 'No more monarchies' 😅

I'm 50. I haven't seen this movie in years. Probably since I was 10. I just love this simple little song.
My favorite soundrack song of 1982 :) Kristy McNichol was a dream for me when I was near 8 years old :)

The best song ever!
This film holds the honor of being the first film to feature the 1982-94 20th Century Fox extended fanfare!

I had been in a local play, and we got permission to use this version as our own ending song; It was a murder mystery dinner show! Fun times!

Everyone loves a happy ending 😛

This was Christopher Atkins Australian Film debut
Someone I knew in Sydney was friends with him. He was kind to his fans
