I NEVER comment on these videos, but this one is just way too good. So informative with the power ratios, light setup as well as background and foreground exposure. I just HAD to say thank you for this video. Newbies (including myself) tend to overthink things which causes some of us to just forgo using flash/strobes. THANK YOU!
From Austin, Texas!
Thank you so much Jeff for taking the time to comment. Have a great day ☀️
Christmas in June!? I'm here for it :)
Hahaha I know 🤣🎄
Thanks for keeping it simple! I'm kinda intimidated by flash photography, but you just explained plain and simple!
That’s always my goal Kevin! Thanks for tuning in. Have a great day 😁
Yesterday I watched the Off Camera Flash Portrait video you did with B&H Photo. The whole thing was amazing! Thanks so much for sharing!
You’re welcome Mike! I appreciate you watching and supporting ❤️
I'm a fan & love what you do but here's a challenge Eli, minimalism. 1- FJ80II with no softbox, a small modifier such as a MagMod Magsphere & a Maggrid, which would all take up very little room in a camera backpack or sling & a lightweight nano stand.
Great point! I just did a studio shoot with bare Speedlight hand held with no stand or extra gear. Results coming soon on my Instagram. Thanks for tuning in Ryan 😁
Love this video!🎉
Appreciate it Alessandro! Let me know how the mylar works out for you 😁
@@EliInfante i buy it yesterday! I will tag you when will arrive it or when I will use it! Thansks so much!
Well about time my good sir. Missed the vids. Thanks for the tips
Thanks for tuning Julio!
Awesome content as usual Eli!
Thanks man! The IG photos you posted today were 🔥🔥🔥
@@EliInfante thanks so much man!! It was an awesome shoot!
Great Video!!!
Thanks Martin! Have a great day ☀️
#elPedo was very well covered. Great explanation and suggestions Eli.
I appreciate it, Jose! Keep killing it, man! You've been on 🔥
@@EliInfantethank you 🙏
YES!!! Missed your videos, bro! I hope you're doing well 🙌
Appreciate it bro! Life is good I’m on summer break so relaxing and catching up things. Looks like everything is good with you! Happy you for you 🙌🏻
A Cook Book for night photography! Thank you. It's getting so damn hot here, time to wait and shoot outside at night when hopefully it's a little cooler. Any suggestions for adding colored gel lights to the background, when the dark background is otherwise uninteresting? Or maybe that's the subject for another video?
Thank you! Yes, it would be another video. If I have enough requests, I would love to create one ❤️
I could never hold my camera still enough to utilize such shutter speeds.
Hahaha I understand as I mentioned increase that ISO to compensate 😁
Can I use a tripod?
Hi sir, I have a question, putting the bottom of the softbox on shoulder level, what is the intention and does it apply for full body portraits also?
It depends on the size of the modifier.
@EliInfante okay, what is the intention on putting it on shoulder level?
I like the light I get on the subject. Keep in mind you can place it wherever you want 😁
Hi sir
which is excellent or suitable these two lens for nikon d780 someone work it for studio photography
1=Sigma 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM, Black (212955) for Nikon
2=Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 24-120mm f/4G ED Vibration Reduction Zoom Lens with Auto Focus for Nikon DSLR Cameras
#2 for sure!
Why do you recommend shooting at high focal lengths?
I love the compression you get for night portraits. If you have a big city environment, a 35mm would be great too. I live in a small city, so we don’t have those cool opportunities.
I also love shallow DOF but why always at 1.2? What bugs me is that, any aperture higher than f1.4 is not “professional”……….which is the opposite. F1.2 is over used and there are shots that shouldn’t…
If people could go f 0.3 they would. You can have big bokeh even at f4 5.6 by placing the subject even closer, still full body at just 100 mm with a Macro lens and the image at that aperture is way sharper, corner to corner.
In the movies, they never shoot at 1.2, 1.4. And I’ve seen people shooting headshots at f1.2. The ears and chest are severely out of focus, which is completely wrong. You have to shoot at f5.6, f8 and you still get a very blurry background. Again, subject distance in relation to the background. And not everything should be shot at that aperture. Group shots, is f10! And you still get background blur and everyone is in focus.
I’m sure you know that but must people don’t.
If you've studied my work, you would know that I don't shoot f/1.2 very often. This was a rare instance in this video. I agree with everything you said, though ❤️
@@EliInfante on that, your work is great. No doubt about that.
00:24 background overexposed
There were too many lights and it was bright 😢
@@EliInfante No, it's not the brightness of the lights, but the wrong shutter speed.
@@EliInfante A shutter speed of 1/160 would have completely saved the situation.
@@Strravaganza I didn’t want to expose for those lights or my background would have been all black. 😁
@@EliInfante It seems we don't understand each other. A faster shutter speed would have kept the arch lights bright and rich yellow, and would have removed the overexposure effect.
