Great work Sal. Thank you for the video. I look forward to your videos. Informative and helpful. I was surprised to see that you shot in aperture priority mode and not manual mode.
Hey man i am not a photographer expert or something like that and i didnt even understand about your physics i just love ur shots the way you take the pictures and yhe detailing in it bro u are the legend u are owsome man ❤❤
I'm always leery about using my strobe without a softbox of some sort. Then I see your video using just the reflector and I wonder why I don't do it more often. Great video! Loved the images with the fence behind her!
agreed. when i was learning photography that was always a no-no taught to me... but damn... it can really look amazing... its nice and punchy for sure. give it a try.
ty . and i dont think thats 100% accurate. details emerging on the global sync show a few limitations that dont get me excited. ISO range and only works with sony flashes atm. everything else is a manual sync. so im not super excited about the marketing hype yet. :)
!/2000th sync for strobe? I'll have to do some homework on which cameras can do that. My Nikon tops out @ 1/350th. I like your vids. Thanks for sharing!
im anxious to see it... however, early reports are not overly promising... ie... it only works natively with sony flashes... which come on... speedlites??? garbage. my understadning is everything else is a bit manual to get to work. so... at this point... its marketing hype for sure... i truly do look forward to seeing what the final product looks like and how it performs... either way - i think its breaking new ground and that benefits all of us!
Ah yes ! I didn’t know that it was just for Sony lights which in my opinion aren’t going to be better then my profoto or westcott lights. I do like the global shutter aspect but we will see when you get your hands on it to be for sure :) can’t wait
well we cant have the same EXACT setting since i am using different glass etc - but you will use what im teaching to conceptually work your images to be similar.
if i had to guess - my gut tells me you dont have the trigger in HSS. you have to change it on the trigger and then your camera will go to the faster shutter speed. let me know.
I have the lightning bolt and little H on my hot shoe. Do you use that on the light itself too (H and lightning or do you use the sync that shows “fre” in bottom left but says t0.5: 1/4200 or whatever?
@@krystlesmithphotographyyes - should only be on the trigger itself. you are using westcott trigger i assume. the nest thing i would do is make sure firmware on the trigger, light and camera are all up to date... ive seen that cause massive issues.

Omg Sal!! Your understanding of HSS is severely flawed! I wanna beat whomever taught you how to explain HSS. Msg me and I’ll tell you the simple physics of it. It has nothing to do with “speed”of light. I love you man. I just want to help. You’re top level and better than this.
i hope its ok i dont msg you or agree with you seeing as ive learned this from actual engineers at two of the largest lighting companies on the planet. i gotta give them the nod here as actual experts if you know what i mean? so to say my understanding is "flawed"... well... is actually flawed. :)

Impressive pictures of an amazing model, wooow ! Congrats all 👏 Very inspiring

Wow, thank you!
Wow what a model

Another awesome video Sal! Thank you for the video! Love working with high-speed sync.
You and me both!
Great work Sal. Thank you for the video. I look forward to your videos. Informative and helpful. I was surprised to see that you shot in aperture priority mode and not manual mode.
99% of the time - unless im in studio... im in aperture mode - massively more consistent and efficient. give it a try
Interesting I’m doing an indoor event today at a hotel (not my usual as I’m either outdoors or in my studio) anyways….i think il try AP :)

I was thinking the same thing. If I didn’t use a soft box I swear it would have that flash “aesthetic” he was talking about… and not in a good way. 😅

Thanks for the video. One more question: what is name of Marylyn's dress? ;-)
ty ty. my apologies. i dont know the name of her dress.
Great work. Just to confirm, are you feathering the light by slightly angling the strobe upwards?
ty ty. and correct. feathering the light makes all the difference in controlling light spill.

Yes I'm looking at your work but my camera doesn't have f/1.2 so what do I use for the job 😢
Background exposure 1 stop down. And flash as needed before blown up.

Am I correct that you would be able to take the same photographs with westcott fj200? You would just have to run it at a little bit higher power
that is correct. or you can move the light closer.
@@SalCincotta1 thanks
Sal, what lightstand did you use in this video?
the voice activated human kind. :) you can see her in the video.

My camera is a Canon EOS 80d how do I get all my settings correctly to have the same shots
well we cant have the same EXACT setting since i am using different glass etc - but you will use what im teaching to conceptually work your images to be similar.
I can’t get shutter in any of the 1000s it’s only at 250 how do I get that with my camera which is a canon r6 mk 2 in the 1000s for the strobe
your flash system has to 1) support HSS and 2) be in HSS mode. this is more than likely a flash issue not a camera issue.
How are you getting your shutter speed to 1/2000? I have this exact hotshoe/lights with the Canon R6mii and mine won’t go above 1/200 or 1/250.
