The media booth was always so fun on the last show day because everyone was way more laid back and you’d always run into the developers just vibing out!
I 100% second the “Soylent VS Protein Bar 30 Second Smash Down”. It’s a question/competition that I didn’t know I needed until I heard it. Please make Krista chug a Soylent if she looses, because there’s no way she can finish chewing through that protein bar as fast a Kit can shot gun that liquid.
I just found out that after 7 years of watching y'all on Nintendo minute, that it's now over and you guys are podcasting now!! I'm here for the ride and can't wait to see what happens from here on out!!!
Funny story, I found a photo of them from when they did Nintendo minute to show my friends how similar they look to the new Pokémon professors and he was wearing the same shirt
It's funny you mentioned hiding Miyamoto from the masses during E3. Part of me wonders if I am partially responsible for that. Back in 2015 I got the idea to hang outside of the west hall entrance at the end of the day by the street where the Nintendo SUVs would pick up the VIPs. I had it in my head that if I waited long enough I might have an opportunity to see Miyamoto. 30 minutes or so had passed and I was getting ready to leave but then outside of the side door popped Miyamoto and his handler. I waved my New 3DS with wood grain Mario Cover plates and sharpie at Miyamoto. The handler ignored me but Miyamoto waved me over and signed my cover plates quickly before hopping into the SUV. I'll never forget that incredible encounter!
Used Krysta's idea for my wisdom teeth removal surgery. Froze 6 smoothies. Everyone from the smoothie place to the dentists office thought it was a genius idea. Thanks for the advice; credit where credit is due!
Great 16th episode you two! E3 has always been my favorite time of the year and hearing your stories on the "behind the scenes" was really cool. Having been to all E3's from 2000 to 2019 (and being a part of 2021's digital show), the event definitely holds a special place in my heart and I'm happy that we got to interact at several of them. I think that even though you both held plenty of responsibilities, you had great presence and composure when walking the booth and interacting with others. 👍 A big thank you too, for answering my Breath of the Wild sequel vs. Mario movie vs. Super Nintendo World question from 1:38:27 to 1:40:15! I was laughing out loud at the loopholes you came up with. Very clever! 🤣 I wonder if your community and most others would vote similarly. Here's to Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo, and all third parties really delivering over these next couple of weeks. I can't wait! (Good picks for what you think will show up, by the way.) Congratulations are also in order to each of you for landing a role in the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet! Clear inspiration right there. 😀 Oh and here's to your snack slamming competition, lol. Stay good, @Kit&Krysta!
Another fantastic episode! I’m already looking forward to next week’s :D One thing I really appreciate is how much time is given to answering listener questions - it’s one of my favorite parts but other podcasts always seem to only answer one or two at most.
Soulcalibur 2 on the GameCube was my favorite. The rest just haven't measured up, unfortunately. That and Bloody Roar: Primal Fury are awesome fighting games.
In high school I won a limited edition golden tamagotchi. It’s numbered and everything. It’s put away, but I think it’s like 622 of 2500. I have also have a normal one that a friend bought me. I think it was green.
I don't think there's another INDIE developer that has worked on a Zelda game, but Krysta was probably thinking of the fact that other developers have worked on Zelda - namely Capcom!
Regarding the question about gamers and gamin scene in Europe, I feel like the UK is overrepresented for the early European gaming scheme. For example for us in Nordics, the NES was strong as the local distributor advertised it heavily. We also had a strong Commodore 64 -following, but ZX Spectrum was nothing. Maybe it's the language barrier, but Europe is much more diverse than just UK when it comes to gaming.
Thanks for answering my question. This European did indeed start his Nintendo experience with a Gameboy, and we did have a ZX Spectrum (pronounced "zed", naturally 😂), so you have us pegged!
The way people remember (or rather misremember) how New Leaf worked is so strange to me? New Leaf did not receive the frequent content updates that person seems to think it did? It received one. One large content update, four years after release. It's just so strange to me and kind of exhausting to hear the constant "I think it sucks that New Horizons didn't do *thing that New Leaf didn't do, that they THINK New Leaf did*"? Like maybe these people were just young when that game came out and don't realize, but people of all ages seem to seriously misremember how that game worked.
Wait...someone sent you a baby crib? What on earth? That reminds me of when Wizards of the Coast was suppose to be sending out these special tcg cards to people, and somehow people got sent toothbrushes instead. It was around that time that I heard my parents got toothbrushes in the mail instead of what they ordered. It was so bizarre! "Excuse me sir, your pants exploded." That's quite a line. 36:12-36:42 That's brilliant! That is quite the move Kit! Ah Soul Calibur IV! I still have that game and both Yoda and Darth Vader. I got the game specifically for those characters, but I knew about Soul Calibur through the second one because my brother had it and played Link a lot because he was and still is a huge Legend of Zelda fan. I think It's funny how Darth Vader can't beat Yoda because Darth Vader is so tall and Yoda is so short, so he has to use his low attacks to attack, so Yoda only needs to low guard. I think Darth Vader's grab wouldn't even work. 1:49:48 Here comes the triforce of Links! Haha! Oh yes! Make it like the DK rap! Haha! I don't like rap, but I would love to see you make a rap out of that! You should have said at the end "That's a rap!" Missed opportunity.
I only associated the word "Soylent" with the old dystopian film "Soylent Green" and was a bit perplexed when he mentioned it. Now I've googled the word and I'm a little smarter (even so the movie is still one of the top results when you google the word).
Every Mario Strikers game has a very high skill ceiling. I can guarentee that you don't have to use some of that stuff in the tutorial, but a lot of people WILL, especially online.
I feel compelled to say (as an English major & former English teacher), that Krysta's vocabulary is impressive--like so good it's almost distracting (but please don't stop)--and both of your speaking skills have leveled up considerably since you started this podcast (please don't take that the wrong way); it's almost as if after you left Nintendo you defeated some sort of communication boss together & gained a ton of xp for it. I wonder what the reasons might be? (I can think of 4). Fascinating!
I'm 'happy' to hear i'm not the only one who found the Striker's tutorial hard! Also hope that was only that way for the more gamer -gamers who'd be likely to play the early trials.
1:32:16 Definitly for your nintendo minute videos playing BOTW, the notifications on mobile would cut out the wording which made everyone think it was an annoucment lol
Lol, I was confused by Mario Striker's free demo as well I also thought it would be available that same weekend, not the week after I think it was especially difficult to mentally register the date because the month is ending at the middle of the week
I have an og tanagotchi from like 97? Same as furby. Both in box practically new. I currently have I think what they call a gen 2 tanagotchi, based on the barcode and ebay scan I did, that's from like 2015 maybe. I liked the digimon ones as you hooked em together and fought them. And they kinda got xp and leveled up. And the evolution tree was much bigger, there was prob 20 plus outcomes. I tried playing tanagotchi on but but it's Japanese. You kinda do the same and level em up and do mini games n stuff. Tough to understand not knowing japanese
I tried fishing once but as a kid, I was scared of the live bait (worm) so I never did it again. Super fun, I hope you had lots of fun! This is a friendly reminder: Clone Krysta is still running - please inform the authorities if you see her. Just like Shadow Mario is Del Fino Isle. LOL It sucks that the days kept getting pushed up. LOL E3 is crazy. I swear emails are the worst part of work, especially when they pile up. Ohhh an onsite event was why the day kept getting up. So wow that makes sense. E3 clothing: where did you typically shop for this outfit? Vera Wang, Alexander McQueen, Coco Chanel, Gucci, Walmart, etc. LOL Sloppy joes are disgusting. I vomit. Xbox - I am only predicting more information for The Division 2 expansion. I LOVE The Division! Have you all tried YuGiOh Master Duel? Especially you Kit since you used to work at Konami… I watched you all before the State of Play because you all are just that important!
I have to say I don’t really agree about Switch Sports. I have mostly stopped playing all the other sports except soccer, but I did play them all a lot before getting a bit bored. I’m still playing Soccer most days online. It’s the one game that has enough control of the character where you feel like you can have significantly different experiences from game to game. Whereas the others always feel similar enough where it gets boring quite quickly. If you get a good team of people in soccer who will pass the ball and play strategically rather than just booting the ball from end to end, it is really satisfying and fun. And actually I could play this a lot more than I could play FIFA. And the whole thing just feels like you’re connecting with people, from everyone messing around at the start doing all the different moves to celebrating a goal. Having said that, I’d love to see other sports return. Especially Baseball, and some new ones being added.
A Pokemon anime closer to the games would be good. I really liked Origins. The Adventures manga would make for a good anime. Zelda having an anime part focusing on each Link would be really good. It could be like Jojo. I think the humor of Kid Icarus would make for a great anime. Fire Emblem getting an anime would be good and maybe it could highlight more of the characters. Smash Bros would not work for anime and I don't think it should get one.
I'm not trying to push for free content since I know this is your job but if you're discussing current news behind the patreon, maybe it would be good to release that later on the channel? Might be good for views. For example, I know you watched the Pokemon trailer. What if you had a longer discussion on the topic on patreon? You could put big news on here as well and say "This is a snippet of our patreon show. Feel free to check it out".
The Tamogatchi was like the predecessor to the Digivice toys, and surprisingly they're still around. The one thing Digimon still has over Pokémon is that they can return to their cuter rookie stage after digivolving for battle. I'm glad the Pokémon games have returned to using traditional colors instead of 'sciencey periodic table element variations', but the way that trade happened in the recent trailer was a bit too futuristic to me. That being said, the Violet Edition must be the 'grey area' since red and blue makes purple...
The reading out of paying fans is the gaming equivalent of pay-to-play. Pay money to have your name read. Why don't you have the name in a scrolling credits so it doesn't stink of a money grab to have your name read out.

I am so mesmerized by the design on Kit’s shirt…
Funny story, I found a photo of them from when they did Nintendo minute to show my friends how similar they look to the new Pokémon professors and he was wearing the same shirt

That is freakin' awesome!
The A Link To The Past Japanese commercial with Link dancing to save Zelda is amazing.
Hey look Professor Turo is fillin in for kit today
😂

I've got a fishing pun caption for you, Krysta:
Tuna in to the Kit & Krysta podcast next week!

Always great to wake up in Singapore every Friday and watch your podcast. Great way to start the weekend haha.

Sad that a Splatoon anime didn't even come up in the discussion for anime adaptations, I feel like it'd be perfect
Another fantastic episode! I’m already looking forward to next week’s :D One thing I really appreciate is how much time is given to answering listener questions - it’s one of my favorite parts but other podcasts always seem to only answer one or two at most.
It's so fascinating hearing about the behind the scenes of E3. Thanks for sharing!
Soulcalibur 2 on the GameCube was my favorite. The rest just haven't measured up, unfortunately. That and Bloody Roar: Primal Fury are awesome fighting games.
Watching you two fight like siblings is so funny 🤣
In high school I won a limited edition golden tamagotchi. It’s numbered and everything. It’s put away, but I think it’s like 622 of 2500. I have also have a normal one that a friend bought me. I think it was green.
I enjoy listening to these during work so I enjoy these hour long podcasts 💙💙👾🎮
Another great one!
I can only imagine, thank you guys for any past E3 contributions
1:43:10 Thanks for answering my question! Still catching up(on episode 21 now)! May have a follow-up to this one in the future.

They still make tamagotchis. For the anniversary, they've re-released the original one with new exterior design. I got one on amazon
Thanks for answering my question. This European did indeed start his Nintendo experience with a Gameboy, and we did have a ZX Spectrum (pronounced "zed", naturally 😂), so you have us pegged!
this was my favorite episode so far! it's so fun to hear about behind the scene of E3! I want to go one day.. if it still exists in the future lol

They definitely still have tomagochi. I have an R2-D2 one from last year. I'm sure ebay has retro ones

What do you guys think about Borderlands 3
E3 PTSD... hey that rhymes
Capcom made Minnish Cap
Hola!

I was interested in Shovel Knight but then I tried it. Too hard for my tastes.
Hello :) from Thai land

That's just how fishermen are. For some reason they like to get up at 4 in the morning everyday.
Omg just started X-Men Legends 2 the other day. Was having a lot of fun, but it kept crashing :/ ordered a new disk and its coming soon!
It's the time.. of the SZN for... E.....3......
Doing E3 sounds fun, except that the stress of it sounds like it would accomplish the same to your insides as getting microwaved 😂
He will keep tokyo drifting through the streets of Chicago.
Kit and Krysta what if Nintendo gives up on E3 forever
Sadness
You guys reacted to Sonic Frontiers
My prediction is that nothing anybody wants will be announced or updated. No Silk Song, no BotW2, no FFXVI, no Metroid Prime 4 - nothin'.
That didn't age well
yes, please scoff down those foods like you're back at e3. Maybe as punishments?
Kit no sonic this episode? Lol you gotta admit the new sonic:botw aka frontiers, might be a good 3d sonic game hopefully
.

I prefer shorter more up to date podcasts like maxed out around an hour and more frequent. Otherwise 👍
Nintendo tries too hard to make every game different.
