I'm with Kit, I have a lot of memories with my 6 siblings growing up playing Mario. While they still love the character and the world of the Mushroom Kingdom, they also haven't grown to love games the same way I have as a gamer. Now that most of my siblings have kids, I am beyond excited to rekindle those memories with an outlet of entrainment that will allow my family to engross themselves in this world the same way I do. Something about my family sending me links to this trailer, as if I haven't seen it, is far more special to me than the movie itself. As a family man, I am more than greatful this is coming from a studio that I know people of all ages will enjoy.
Since episode 1 kit has been occasionally hitting the plant on his right and i find it funny how the plant keeps growing and eventually will have to be moved 😂
I would absolutely play the heck out of Dynasty Warriors: Founding Fathers edition! 1:57:10 I would want Abe Lincoln to be in it too, but he'd probably be DLC since he came later than the founding of the country...
1:34:00 Kit you completely embodied, channeled, internalized and expressed the Nintendo Japan expectation management HOT e-mails we've been hearing about through the podcast.
I relate so much with Krysta when it comes to horror games. I just…can’t. 😂 Also wow I never knew that reality cooking shows could get that…fake, and mean to the contestants. 😢 Again, amazing podcast you two! I laughed a lot on this one. ❤
I’m almost in my 30s and I watched back to the future last year for the first time ever and it’s definitely worth the watch. Probably my favorite 80s movie.
It was fun hearing about the baking show. I think most people realize that a decent proportion of those reality shows are fake, but it was interesting hearing exactly how many aspects are faked. I hope Krysta didn't violate a NDA !
Another great episode. Loved the story about you "Mario Maker" Cake Wars moment. Also, is it bad I shed tears while I was watching the Mario Movie trailer... Nostalgia hit hard and the realisation it was gonna be ok, it was going to be ok!
After so many videos and articles online I've seen about the "lies" and behinds the scene stuff with a lot of reality shows, I guess I never considered what exactly that looked like for a baking competition show. So that was some super fascinating insight! Of course, Cake Wars is just one example, but a lot of those shows have a similar structure and vibe on TV, so I wonder how similar the experience of other such shows are. Either way, probably still a cool experience for you, Krysta!
1:34:00 You scared me for a bit. I went to double-check that, and they plan to release the 3 games in 6 years, not develop them in 6 years. Meaning there can be 3 years between the releases. Which is much better and realistic.
4:55 Kit I see you with the mind games trying to rile up Krysta 🤭 You ain't fooling us, nor her either! I will say though, next time there's a cooking challenge both dishes need to be evaluated *side-by-side* 👀
The first time I can remember reading about the development, that is not Japanese working a major Nintendo franchise was Starfox. The tech for that and the FX chip was a partnership with a UK developer Argonaut. I think the head of development also worked on 1080 Snowboarding and some other projects.
I don't necessarily go with a specific type for my starter Pokemon. I just pick whichever one has the design I like better, including the evolved forms. Some of the starters are cute, but they evolve into hideous homunculus-like abominations. Gotta pick the one with the best evolutions!
Glad P.T. got a mention. The sound design (nevermind everything else) was mind-blowing, and there aren’t many other games that have reached that level of unsettling.
47:52 I actually decided a few days ago that I wanted to try my second horror game. A few years ago, I played some random 5$ horror game on steam with a friend, but I wanted to play a classic this time, so I decided to go with Silent Hill 2. When doing research for the best way to play it, seems like you've got to "download' the pc version, and run an HD patch. Took like 5 minutes total, and it looks great. Playing with a controller, the camera controls are how you'd expect for a PS2 era game, but otherwise it holds up incredibly well.
I agree 100% with Krista about the way Mario looks..you cant unseen the differences, it’s almost as if the purposely made him look that different so people DO differentiate him from any other of his appearances.
1:05:10 Regarding Mario Maker 1 vs 2, yes the second game had some troubles, but don't forget, Mario Maker 1 was ALL Nintendo really had going that holiday season. I'll give some context: May 29, 2015: Splatoon released September 11, 2015: Super Mario Maker released Here are ALL, not some, ALL the Wii U games that released in that span of 105 days, roughly 3.5 months Adventures of Pip LEGO Jurassic World Art Academy: Home Studio Binding of Isaac: Rebirth Legend of Kay HD Badland: GOTY Edition Xeodrifter Freedom Planet Brave Tank Hero Woah Dave! Disney Infinity 3 Any of those look appealing or worth making two, let alone one Nintendo Minute video? Overall, Mario Maker 1 had all the attention because that was all the Wii U could really advertise.
Very good comment, this is an important thing to note. Another is that consider the state of the games industry in 2015. We are before Overwatch and thus before the absolute decline in gamer mind share caused by the rise of Games as a Service style games. That being said, Mario Maker 2 has an exceptionally long interest tail which is why there is still a massive community for the game and even causing the rebirth of the long dormant Kaizo scene. Honestly if they ever want to reinvigorate MM2 interest if they find it waning too much, they can just bundle it in NSO Expansion Pack (also if they do so add Game Builder Garage to bolster some young minds to get into Game Design)
1:29:58 "I think you are underselling the potential because there has never been a movie" Yes there has, Kit. 1 animated one in Japan in '86 and 1 live action one in '93.
Wow krysta your timing is perfect. When you mentioned the guy from mean girls I laughed and called him a cake boy. Wich is a reference in clueless. Then you said clueless like right after that. Haha 👍
It’s funny because both of your #1 scary games were Silent Hill games after all, just like Krysta said! PT was the Playable Teaser for the new Silent Hills game that Kojima and Guirellmo Del Toro were working on.
Why was Krysta so quick to shoot down Kit’s US Founding Fathers game? It honestly sounded pretty fun, haha! The comment “no-one likes those guys anymore” left me speechless! Ignore the criticism. Your idea was fine, Kit, please, expound upon it further! :)
Something that I've noticed when it comes to scary or horror media, one of the biggest fear factors is what I call "differsame" take clowns for example, human form brings familiarity, but with the paint, the weird antics and disproportionate clothing makes it different creeping out people. From there you can ask yourself what creeps you out and is it something that is slightly off from normal. Dolls, mannequins, wax models are some examples that I see people are afraid of and the reason behind it. I use this reasoning and fear as a way to make horror themed media that isn't just flashing a loud image and catching you off guard.
You know I’m a wimp because even just hearing Kit and Krysta talk about horror games was giving me goosebumps 😅 Thanks so much for another great episode!!!
Here for another podcast! Let the long comment commence Kit: I have prepared... Krysta: A rap?? Kit: ...some facts & figures... Krysta: 🙃 Sounds like somebody is ready for the next rap video lol Mario themed cakes, huh? Okay so random fact, I share a birthday with Miyamoto Shigeru & last year I randomly searched him on FB on our birthday lol there was a pick of him with like a 5ft high Mario themed cake! Perhaps whomever made it for him was inspired by the show I used to bake pies quite often & I did make an attempt to make it decorative using cookie cutters to make the crust on top look interesting I totally agree, Krysta. Just don't mess with it! "Let sleeping dogs lie" as they say I thought the trailer was really good. Definitely made me excited to see more. While I don't really play any Mario games, a movie made with Nintendo characters is alrdy pretty cool. Hopefully this is the 1st of many For the new Splatfest theme....I don't play Pokemon so I don't care about types of whatever. I just pick the color I like the most....or just join Team Shiver again 😆 This comment is officially done lol nice podcast 👍🏿
Real talk: RE7 VR is the definitive experience. Right from the get go when you first get into the house and weird shit starts happening and you have to go to the basement… when you approach the stairs you start hearing groaning sounds and everything in your body screams *fuck that, let’s leave*. But you can’t! It is a proper horror experience. It’s one thing to get jump scared by something, but to have your literal survival instincts yelling at you because you’re so immersed through VR… nothing else comes close.
Lot of good moments and I just finished watching in time for the next one! Here Comes Niko is fun and cute! And haha a brain virus every few months sounds silly.
Gosh, there is too much to discuss about the Super Mario Bros Movie. I think the movie deserves to be successful, but it also has to be good (Miyamoto-san, I'm gonna trust in you on this one, give your star franchise what it deserves!). From what we've seen so far, I have faith on this movie, it looks very promising. And finally, we're talking about Mario, probably the most famous franchise of the video games history, taken to the big screen by Illumination. I'm not usually too optimistic, but at least for now I'm positive the Super Mario Bros Movie is gonna be a great movie and a success too. Let's-a go!
I’m ready for The Super Mario Bros. Movie to soar past $500 million and possibly reach $1.2 billion! The interest factor, decades worth of fans, short runtime (assuming it’s less than 100 minutes) which allows theaters to run multiple showings in a day, family appeal and repeat viewings that animated movies are known for having, and word of mouth spreading based off the movie being of high quality…which seems to be the case, strong marketing, toy crossover, etc., all make the likelihood of this film succeeding quite high. One thing I do hope for is #MartinetForMario being a thing. I think it would be great if the movie had an alternate voice dub as part of the DVD/Digital release. Imagine that in addition to English, Spanish, and French audio options being present for the at-home release, so too was “Game Mode”, where Charles recorded all Mario and Luigi lines, giving people the option to have a more relatable experience. I think this would provide great fan service, excellent respect to Mr. Martinet, and good incentive for people to buy this product as it features something new and unique. What do you think? 😁 Good video!
Hideo Kojima was going to make a Silent Hill game with Junji Ito, which would've made all other horror games look like Animal Crossing in comparison 😨 Also, it's not really a 'horror' game, but Death Stranding was genuinely scary at times.
Just the teaser trailer alone has already set this movie up to do a billion, just wait till they show the "official" trailer. This could be the highest grossing box office hit of all time.
@@Howitchewstofeel5gum yeah but this a franchise thats been around for over 40 years, so that's like 3 generations of demographics that going to see this movie. This will easily surpass 3 billion easily. Between kids, families and people between the ages of 20 and 60 individually will go see this movie.
@@mr_m4613 So what? Star Wars has been around even longer than Mario, and yet the highest-grossing Star Wars movie, The Force Awakens, made almost a BILLION dollars less than Avatar. You are absolutely kidding yourself if you think Mario is going to "easily surpass" the 3 billion mark.
@@Howitchewstofeel5gum yeah but here the difference, the super mario franchise is bigger and more relevant than its ever been, can you say the same for the star wars franchise, I don't think so.
@@mr_m4613 You're still not making any sense. I just told you that I was speaking of the HIGHEST-GROSSING Star Wars movie, so, by definition, that had to be when the franchise was the biggest (at least in terms of cinema). Meanwhile, I don't really see any reason to believe that Mario is "more relevant than he's ever been", especially since his last mainline game came out five years ago and a new one has yet to be announced. Tell you what, let's just talk again when the movie has been out for some time and hasn't grossed anywhere close to 3 billion :)
I have a question, pre-dating Nintendo Minute I remember watching as a kid on the Nintendo Channel on the Wii days a similar duo that did segments that were similar format to Nintendo Minute. I’ve always wondered what happened to them if you guys knew haha
Kit never watched Mean Girls and Clueless. "You cant sit with us!" Literally all of my pop culture references are either Pokemon or Mean Girls lol my range is astronomical. Also, being on a bake off show sounds soooo nice! ugh, I just want to try baked goods now! this also sounds sooo very stressful to just be constantly stressed by the people. It also reminds us that there is very little reality to reality tv. Butter cream frosting is SOOOOO good. Now I want cake. LOL Resident Evil 7: Biohazard doesn't look bad. I don't find games as scary. Well, I think the ones that master jump scares and creepies are scary. LOL the E.M.M.I. can be pretty scary from Dread. Because I don't want to lose my no-kill streak. LOL I am curious like Krysta on how people make horror things. The Mario maker levels are just soooo complex. I dunno how to really do this hahahaha. Tunic does look like a good game. I am not intrigued with this film yet. Zootopia was SOOOOO good! Frozen 2 was also good. The Lion King was very good too. I don't think Mario will beat that animated list. maybe it will beat up to despicable me. It wont make the top ten of the all time. If Nintendo Minute vanished from Nintendo channel. I would be sad LOL. Rogue One was my favorite Star Wars movie as well! This was such a great video!
My 3 scariest games are: Batman Arkham Asylum - for its atmosphere and story. The Ooze - because as a kid I had it on a plug and play system and the intro and sounds were so scary I never played it again. Sonic Forces - it's scary how bad it is - only kidding I cant think of another scary game because I dont like horror stuff at all. 😁😂
I think a Box Office of 600 million is much more realistic for Mario. Just because the character is well known, doesn't mean it will do well as a movie, it's a different medium. Think of Mickey, everybody and their mother know him, would anyone care about a Mickey movie? Basically no one. I think Mario is much more beloved than Mickey, but 1 billion will be hard, I think.
Super Mario movie makeup billion dollars? Honestly, I really doubt it; however, I still do think that it will be a commercial success. Thank you for another wonderful episode Kit and Krysta, and God Bless everyone 😇✝️
I hope it beats The Lion King! Disney was all about it being “live action” until they realized it could be considered the top animated movie of all time.
The top 3 scariest games I have played, in no particular order of importance, are Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Luigi's Mansion 3, and Castlevania: Order Of Ecclesia. And I found all of those approximately %0 scary. Because I don't play scary games. But if I did, I wouldn't play 'em for the scares. I'd play 'em for the *HUNT!* Heeheeheeheehee...
50:44-- As an extremely horror-averse person I have had this thought more than once XD creativity comes in all kinds, even if it comes across as depraved to me, so I try not to say it out loud but... yeah. really. some of the stuff that exists...... also if you think PT is bad, I have a feeling the new game from Silent Hill guy *pauses to google* Keiichiro Toyama is going to be a hundred time worse and this is just from the trailer, which I KNEW I shouldn't have watched and do not know why i keep torturing myself with horror trailers and let's plays (they're never called that anymore but i can't stop lol) and yet i am immensely excited for the RE4 remake and will definitely watch a stream. shining achievement that i played through the original ahaha, cannot comprehend how much scarier the remake will be ;_;
Did you see how many people were talking about it though? I haven't seen that much hype around anything. Gamers, non gamers, people who haven't played games in ages
@@drowningin To be honest that's probably due to the circles you move in. You notice it more with this film. You can compare for example the views of the trailer: the Mario film has around 20 million in total. They are great numbers, but WAY behind so many other films. Even if we stick to animation even the most recent Raya and the last dragon or Luca have many more views than the Mario film. Frozen II for instance has around 250 Million views overall, which is crazy. Or we can just take the first The Batman trailer, nowadays 70 million views.
@@r.c.c.10 you know there is a trailer for every language? And hate views for Morbius don’t count. The studios wish they knew that. You are also comparing a new upload to videos uploaded much longer. That’s not a good comparison
Never having seen Mean Girls, Back to the Future, or Clueless...and then having the gall to claim pies are better than cake? How can one person have so many poor opinions and incorrect life choices?
MM2 absolutely suffered because of the clunky online interface. Like, not being able to simply search for levels with words like a HUMAN BEING, but instead having to put in a long-ass code is a baffingly dumb decision along with many others. Game Builder Garage didn't take off for the same reason IMO, that game would've needed an online platform where you can actually explore and find fun stuff like Dreams has.
**quietly closes video project titled "Super Mario Bros. Movie in Super Mario Maker**
Andre!!!!!
This is a cross over we need!!! Make levels for each other, two of my fav channels coming together...

I freaking love your guys' channel, it's so positive and a great escape from everything else going on 😁
THANK YOU!!!
There's a chance for the movie to reach billion. Especially with the theme park's opening around the film's release.
The truth is Krysta has won every single competition and no one can tell us Krystalians otherwise
“Nobody likes the founding fathers anymore” 💀💀

I haven't thought of "Love That Goku" in like 7+ years. I give Kit +1 respect for being an OG Twitter user.
Hopefully they market the Mario movie well, would be cool to see pixel Mario at the beginning of a trailer to get the older audience.
You got close, they showed Pixel Mario and Luigi at the start of the movie when the Nintendo Logo shows up!
A Metroid movie would be freakin' _AWESOME!_
I remember watching that episode of Cake Wars when I was sitting in a garage waiting area waiting for my car repair to complete. :)

Hideo Kojima was going to make a Silent Hill game with Junji Ito, which would've made all other horror games look like Animal Crossing in comparison 😨
Also, it's not really a 'horror' game, but Death Stranding was genuinely scary at times.
Who knows.....im just excited im alive to see this happen🥳🥳🥳🥳
Congrats on the Hello Fresh partnership!
1:57:15 😂😂😂
Just for the record, as a long time splatoon fan who has watched all of the live performances, I have heard of Nintendo live
Wow you guys look so stylish!! Homage to Bayonetta release in the next few weeks?? Haha
I really really hope the Mario Movie is a musical xD
Just the teaser trailer alone has already set this movie up to do a billion, just wait till they show the "official" trailer. This could be the highest grossing box office hit of all time.
Unlikely. Avatar grossed close to 3 billion dollars.
There's a chance. But I think it will be a Cars situation. It will make more with the merchandises.
I think DK will have his own kingdom and he'll escape from bowser and meet the bros
I have a question, pre-dating Nintendo Minute I remember watching as a kid on the Nintendo Channel on the Wii days a similar duo that did segments that were similar format to Nintendo Minute. I’ve always wondered what happened to them if you guys knew haha
Yeah, Nintendo Week!

I think the mario movie is gonna surprise us on how good it does.
2:02:03 proud owner of Devilish Brain Training here. It's the best game ever created, and sold one morbillion copies.
My 3 scariest games are:
Batman Arkham Asylum - for its atmosphere and story.
The Ooze - because as a kid I had it on a plug and play system and the intro and sounds were so scary I never played it again.
Sonic Forces - it's scary how bad it is - only kidding I cant think of another scary game because I dont like horror stuff at all. 😁😂
PT; Kojima, Norman Reedus, and Don Memo, aka, Guillermo del Toro, it was meant to be the scariest game ever!!
I think nintendo movies should be animated or by using mocap. That way you can keep the actors hidden behind the familiar faces of the characters.
It will. You have to remember it will release world wide. A lot worse, less known IPs make that in China alone
If the Mario movie is successful, what are the odds that NOA reopens their California office to manage the new portfolio? 😂
I've never seen Mean Girls but dude you have to watch Back to the Future
50:44-- As an extremely horror-averse person I have had this thought more than once XD creativity comes in all kinds, even if it comes across as depraved to me, so I try not to say it out loud but... yeah. really. some of the stuff that exists...... also if you think PT is bad, I have a feeling the new game from Silent Hill guy *pauses to google* Keiichiro Toyama is going to be a hundred time worse and this is just from the trailer, which I KNEW I shouldn't have watched and do not know why i keep torturing myself with horror trailers and let's plays (they're never called that anymore but i can't stop lol) and yet i am immensely excited for the RE4 remake and will definitely watch a stream. shining achievement that i played through the original ahaha, cannot comprehend how much scarier the remake will be ;_;
It's pronounced Vood-ka in Poland (not Wood-ka). Wódka in Polish. Polish W is English V.
Itll be the highest grossing vg movie of all time and itll make all future vg movies fallow the same formula. All cg kids movies.
so are we not gonna talk about Krysta clearing RAM?
Do you think people will see Mario movie multiple times to see it with and without the 3D glasses?
I hope the film is good and then that it's successful enough. But many great films don't get that much money as a billion dollars.
No way am I looking forward to that new Super Mario movie. In other words, I'm skipping Halloween, so don't underestimate me.
WHAT??? You've never seen Back to the Future??? *passes out from nerd disbelief*
Anyone here after the movie did pass the billion dollar mark?
Never having seen Mean Girls, Back to the Future, or Clueless...and then having the gall to claim pies are better than cake? How can one person have so many poor opinions and incorrect life choices?
I think there was a British guy who worked on Mario 64?
MM2 absolutely suffered because of the clunky online interface. Like, not being able to simply search for levels with words like a HUMAN BEING, but instead having to put in a long-ass code is a baffingly dumb decision along with many others. Game Builder Garage didn't take off for the same reason IMO, that game would've needed an online platform where you can actually explore and find fun stuff like Dreams has.
