I've had both of these breeds (rott/corso). I have a homestead and currently have 10 dogs and 5 different breeds including Cane Corso, Fila Brasileiro, Presa Canario, American Bulldog and Bandogge Mastiff
It's true what you say about a Rottweiler being easier to train. Cane Corso's take a long time to mature, like most Mastiff breeds and they go threw a stubborn phase, again like most Mastiff breeds. But they are bigger, more athletic and powerful than the Rottweiler. It comes down to personal preference and what you have access to. I like the Corso and Fila for guarding my farm, it's what they are bred for. But for someone who doesn't live on a farm and has a regular house, a well bred Rottweiler is certainly a good choice

Dogs 4 Home protection hi, do you have livestock? Just wondering if you do, how these dogs work with the livestock? I know we hear about LSGDs but these people don’t realize that while they were used for millennia for LS protection , it was a VERY small area of the world ( mountain ranges in Europe and Asia) Many OTHER breeds can be fantastic LS guardians and have been:) Say that on a goats site if you want trolls. Seriously, I am an older lady who enjoys hearing dog breed experiences. While I am NOT a terrier fan, ( don’t fit my lifestyle) I did have a Bandogge who was abandoned. Sadly he died of cancer. I kid you not, two goats and two ornery geese, stood by his body still as statues while I dug the hole for his burial. They followed me to the grave like a funeral procession. And only turned and walked away after I put his headstone up. The LS adored him! Thanks for reading!!

English mastiff, Neo mastiff, these two are pretty great for an apartment lifestyle because they tend to be laid back dogs that won't destroy everything, of course they will start out as puppies and puppies will always chew but when they're older they're so chill and don't require a lot of exercise and aren't high energy dogs, saliva would be the biggest problem with most big breeds though. Another note is that if your landlord likes to make unexpected visits or live in a building where maintenance has been known to just open your door here and there while you're not home, it happens and that can be dangerous.

I've had a corso, a rottie, and a corso/rottie mix. I find in my experience anyway that the rottie and the rottie/corso mix were headstrong, very brave and way more aggressive when protecting.
My corso was super calm and mature. He was not aggressive but was protective and did not like strangers but tolerated them. Although one time he attacked my neighbor for getting too close to my 2 yr old son (which was the only time in 10 years he attacked anyone, plus he was very protective of my boy and would let him do anything like climb up on him like a horse, pull his ears and flick his jiggly lips).

Cane corso being a much younger re-creation since the 70s in a much smaller gene pool has so much more work to do compared to Rottweilers. When it comes to guarding, Rotts were bred to be Guard dog as well as herding dogs, so they can do both well.

But it's interesting that your brought up Brutale....he's definitely the epitome of what i would want or something like a Cerber (Presa Canario) as far as looks goes. lol....Feel like I'm back to square 1 now--- if you don't mind; where/what kennel did you purchase your rottie from and do they have any more left? Nothing tops a Rottweiler. People talk about size and bite force and all this esoteric bullcrap, but the Rottweiler is the baddest dog on the planet, period. their strength and power is legendary, far exceeding what one would consider capable given their physic. Putting the theory and bullcrap camp fire stories aside the facts are:
Rotts were used as police dogs but they stopped using them because of the damage they inflicted on the suspects. No other dog had that problem.
Right on you tube you can see a professional protection dog trainer demonstrate with a Rott as he states "no dog hits like a rottwieler" - no persas, canes, pits, bandogges, dobes, shepards. None hit like a Rott. then he shows working with one and he not only uses a sleeve, but he has to put on a hard plastic forearm shield under the sleeve for extra protection, still not enough, so wraps additional padding on top of the sleeve for 2 extra layers of hard and soft protection which no other dog requires. after demonstrating some work with the Rott the amazing thing is he removes the outer padding, the sleeve, then the hard forearm protector and his forearm is STILL bleeding.
An article that answer what, if any dog can handle a lion...ONLY 2 dogs, Rottweiler and Rhodesian Ridgeback - not Cane's Presa's, Bandogge, Shepards, Dobes, only those 2
Same article, the dog to defeat pit bull - just one dog named, Rottweiler
Another you tube of the 15 most fiercest dogs, Rottweiler listed as number 1
so all the bullshit about phantom bite force crap and size means crap. ALL those dogs are great dogs, ALL those dogs are great guard dogs that will get the job done with ease. but if you need to rank and wonder who is tops. the facts are the facts and nothing can top the Rottweiler. The shame is in how their health has been ruined by american breeders so the genes pool is containmenated and like Presa's its virtually impossible to find Rotts or Presa's with the health of a boerboel. with the boerboel you can relax and not watch your dog like a hawk for some hereditary disaster to surface. makes me angry as i love Rottweilers so much and they are such great loving dogs but i'm too afraid of the health problems. Canes are very bad as well with serious heart issues, seizures, etc.
And people STOP the spaying and neutering, its a major factor in the ridiculous cancer frequency in dogs now. STOP IT. Never neuter or spay until at least after 6 years old. this is the results of a Veterinarian's study of cancer in dogs.

I've seen so many, my cousin had one and my neighbour had one and the majority I have seen in dog parks were terrible. My neighbour's was brutal and one day he got what he deserved. He picked a fight with a Malamute on our street and got destroyed. That Malamute was always so docile. Boy did he turn like a wild wolf. Fight lasted about ten seconds. Never saw an ass kicking like that ever! And he was bred to guard and protect lmao! The Doberman never wanted to leave his house again.

Great choice. Corsos are not for everyone. They require alot of attention and you have to be experienced in training. They have a unique personality and you have to understand their genetic traits in order to get the best out of them. A Corso has been bred for specific tasks. So you have to understand that and see if it fits to your lifestyle. From my humble experience a working line corso strives in a highly structured environment. Predictability and routine goes a long way in training. Consistency is key no slacking off at least for the first 3-4yrs. A Corso lives a happy life with a Job to do. Solid firm leadership, discipline and communication skills are a must with a Corso. Every dog needs a good human leader and most will fall in line but a Corso will challenge your leadership skills if you're not consistent. Lol😂 Beautiful and smart breed when they know exactly what is expected of them.

    • @iiiena
      @iiiena 5 років тому

Actually what you wrote applies to the Rottweiler too. They are working dogs bred for very specific purposes (pulling carts, watching over cattle, protection). This means they need a job, to always be near their owners, a very strong leadership and consistency since they are dominant and stubborn and you cannot waver. I've got two and I'm currently training my male. The slightest change of determination in my voice makes the difference between him acting like a soldier and him ignoring the command (he is still in training). They are not for everyone.

Nice vid! I'm in the same situation. We chose a female Rottweiler puppy, who is now 11 months old, to join our household with a 13 year old Border Collie mix. The Border Collie is older and tired, and can't match the super high energy level of our Rott! She mostly gives him space, but when she wants to play, she is often in his face and he growls and shows his teeth, so she backs off, LOL. She is a sweetheart, and very affectionate and has a great temperament. She barks loudly and authoritatively when people pass by outside, walking their dogs. I have to say though, that having a Rottweiler is a FULL TIME JOB, as they eat and crap up a storm, and want to be with you most of the time! They can play and run all day! This breed is NOT for the light-hearted, and not right for everyone. You must choose wisely when getting a dog.

Had three different dogs since him, 2 Bulldogs and French Mastiff but never forget him , he was so special to me. A year ago picked up Rocco my first Cane Corso he s turning out to be quite a companion too ...very smart and trainable but a little bit of sneak....he pushes envelope Ie.. very independent thinker ...still not confident with his “stay “ and “ place” when stranger approaches or cat etc..etc. he s 11 months and looks like a giant Pitbull but loves his family especially my youngest who s 5. Good luck with Roscoe... socialize him...especially with fam and friends my Bruno was a little too pushy with sniffing family visitors, made them uncomfortable so we would have to put him away and I hated doin that ...but your Rosco looks great..

If you had any personal experience with a dojo Argentino I would really like for you to share that info just like you did with this video thank you for your time!!
