When Surf Instrumentals became the rage, in the early to mid-1960s The Ventures changed the name of the song to “Surf Rider” and included it on the their Surfing album. It’s one of the many tidbits of Ventures lore that my friend Nokie shared with me. Sadly, he died last year.

By the way, Nokie Edwards was one of the most INCREDIBLE rock guitarists to ever stand on a stage! Nokie, along with the legendary Dick Dale, practically INVENTED surf music back in the 60’s...both men should get the recognition they truly DESERVE!

I bought a new Squier Jaguar about 7 years ago. Surf green, but I hate the bridge, not fond of the tuners either. It doesn't play like a Fender American, that's for sure!
Wasn't looking for this but I sure did like it. Drumming too is so solid & well- regulated. Doesn't call attention to itself but really makes " the sound" complete.

Nice! Thank you! I've tried so many times to get this song right, to me this is a precious gift. After decades of trying I am finally able to make more than 2 notes that sound right when I play. This video has already helped me more than I can say. Who knows, I may just be able to play half decently before I croak.

At 54, I just started playing and picked this as one of my two first songs to learn(The other is Rumble). This tab is slightly different than the Ultimate Guitar one, but I prefer this version. Playing YT at half speed is just about the perfect learning speed.

Man I liked this video so i can learn to play it later. Today's the day, I connected a delay pedal into a chorus pedal and into a multieffect pedal with a bunch of different filters and I got the sound. The song itself is super easy to learn and memorize. The hardest part is getting down the correct timing and play with the right rhythm. Anyways im so glad I spent a few minutes to learn this one, it's really fun to play and relaxing. Its one of those songs that sound really complicated but is actual super simple and easy to play. I really appreciate the on screen notations. I just subscribed to the channel.

Yeah I also say that your tone is perfect also, love that instrumental I first discovered it on the soundtrack while they were playing the credits at the end of the movie Pulp Fiction and had to find out who performed it, after that I recorded it and play it back often as well as "Rumble" by Link Ray & the Wraymen during the same movie's diner scene.
