- This is an arrangement for Walk Don’t Run by The Ventures. I have taken the lead guitar parts from my cover video and added the TAB arrangement and chords at the bottom of the screen. Hope it helps if you are interested in learning this classic! Clean tone for days and some reverb and you’ll be in business.

Basically one chord shape, one major scale pattern and the composer of this piece created a timeless melody that evokes so much emotion. Just goes to show that, in music, it's not how much you know but what you can do with it.
Actually the composer (Johnny Smith) said that he didn't even recognize it as the song he wrote when he heard this version.
This was the first band I ever heard and liked. My Dad was into these guys. I love the Ventures.
Everyone loved the Ventures in the 60s.
Good vidéo. Just one thing; the first chord is an A minor. This peace is written in A minor….
Great! After a few decades I finally decided to learn it this week. Amazing how the simple time and the simple music done right still sounds great to this day.
Perfectly done! I bought the 45 rpm record on Dolton label in 1960 when I was 10 and still have it. Just love this song and thanks for doing it justice.
absolute great perfomance
Thanks a lot for sharing that!
Tabs, music, and both hands- all at the same time! Thank you, Jimmy!!

I just learned about half and find this so fun and a total departure from what I usually play. Thanks man!
i decided to come back to guitar after a whole year by learning this one and because it is so close to the headstock my fingers got really sore

I was going to buy the backing track, but it seems the tabs are not included. Do you sell the tabs?
Never mind. I just recreated the tabs myself. You did a fantastic job on this. I did notice one tiny difference between your tabs and the Ventures rendition: in measures 31and 71, you have a hammer from D# to E, but I believe the Ventures play this as a quick slide.
This is superb! Thanks for such a great recording and tab!
What appears as an A major chord sounds like an A minor chord. The notes are showing a C# in the chord, but I'm hearing a C natural.
Nice guitar is that a Fender?
Now let's hear Walk Don't Run 1964.
Oh good call on that one. Thanks for watching!
Great playing and beautiful tone....!
Thanks for sharing! Appreciate your comments and support!
The history of this is amazing.....Johnny Smith used the progression of "Softly as in a morning sunrise" and created "Walk Dont Run". Chet Atkins, who thought Johnny Smith was God did a cover of Johnny Smiths Walk Dont Run in that Chet Atkins boom chick style.......then the Ventures heard that version and came up with their variation and created the iconic surf rock theme everyone knows. At this time Johnny Smith had managed to cut off the top off his index finger while flying his plane and while in hospital the royalties starting flowing to him from the Ventrues.
I love the Ventures version but the Johnny Smith creation trumps them all. Shows what comes out of Jazz into the mainstream hey. I have a vague memory of Benson and Hedges using the johnny smith version for an ad back in 69.
they had a hell of time getting it accepted Riedoff told them it wouldn't amount to anything Joe Bolyes gave them theier break used it as kicker song between other programs coming out of Boyles produced the record after air play switcboards lit up who are those guys what is that"I heard at home was 15 years old i figured it would be a hit #2 in charts if Elvis didnt take #1 the Ventures would have easly
Excelente !!
1st chord should be A minor.
Composed by John Barry, later to because me prolific movie composer, incl Bond films 👍🏻
what model guitar not a Fender Jazzmaster but sounds darn nice very good love that song it was played on more movies 2 amrcan pie and #61 baseball movie Billy Crystal
i usually only listen to metal n stuff but i heard this song on radio and its so fire i wanna learn to play it
Hey Jimmy, I was wondering how you got this wonderful tone, a list of effects would be appreciated.
My guess is a clean setting with a lot of reverb.
@@bciecko1 Thanks. I was wondering the same thing. Will have to give it a try.
Thank you Jimmy. Beautifully played, very helpful tab. Cheers!
THIS IS SOOO GOOD
THANK YOU!!
Excelente....gracias..!!
Thanks for watching and sharing!
Why can't you include a "Bouncing Ball" to follow, along the music? Seriously, it would be helpful for some of us, and a marketing tool.
Bob Bogle says just watch the video and thank the guy who made it.
First started chords I have completed how to switch chords
Please know
Thanks
Make some more video like this with tabs. Thanks for sharing.
That was great Jimmy! Thanks for including the tabs. Look forward to your next one.
Thanks Tim! I'm trying to keep them coming for sure. Enjoy!
Thanks for sharing. It has that raw Ventures sound. The Shadows version is more disco in flavour .
Great video. Do you of any publication that has bass for surf music?
It would help me learn your version faster if I could print out the tabs.
Of many other video's the transition part of each theme is best in this piece.
Exceptional! Thank you!
What kind of guitar is that?
It is a Rivolta Combinata
