Many many years ago I used to play Maplestory. The game was a cancerous grind and rng-fest if you wanted to be top-tier. Hours and hours of grinding levels and weapon scrolls that had a 30% chance of working and a 10% chance of destroying your weapon if it fails. Naturally with such investment someone would want to post their damage on YT or forums. "Didn't count. You're using takoyaki." That being a simple attack boosting food anyone could buy for a little bit of currency IIRC.
That’s what i find funny about speed runs is just what important NPCs think when it happens. Like Margot being beaten in stormveil only to be beaten an hour later by the same naked dude/lady
People that talk about he can only zip, I feel like they just know this man from elden ring and have no idea how long he's been a master of these from software games.

It wasnt the unrestricted runs that was the problem, it was his inability to beat certain bosses. I remember a time he couldn't get close to getting melania to phase 2 so this doesn't disprove all that happened before. Being bad at something isnt a bad thing if you have the dedication to get better like he has. His persistence is basically a superpower and success is nothing without feeling failure first.

It's said that there are two kinds of geniuses, the “ordinary” and the “magicians.” The ordinary one is someone who anyone could be just as good as, if we really threw ourselves into it for a very, veeery long period of time. You can see that's not somethign you can currently achieve, and that it would not be easy, but it seems achievable. And then there's the "magicians". They are someone whe excells so much at something, that even if you udnerstand how it was done, you know there's no way you can reach that level. I think this run is an example of the latter.
You can consistently dodge that attack it's just a very tight timing to roll through the first one as she comes down if you're close and can't just sprint away
The speed and ease with which this man fucking killed mohg triggers me beyond belief. I killed him sub 10 tries but it was a much harder and longer battle. Ridiculously impressive run though

I had no idea the Serpent Hunter was so good outside of Rykard. Even without the buffs those heavy attacks are super nice. Going to try it out. Edit- What was up with the Radagon fight? The attack before the visceral should've killed him. Wonder if it was because he staggered on it?
literally everyone laughed at me, when I took the serpent hunter outside of the rykard fight, made it my first +10 and finishing the game with it on my first playthrough. I gotta admit though I play souls for the fashion and dont care about stats at all.
@@RealLockheedMartin I mean, the scaling really doesn't say much. it effectively has no L2, you can't switch the ash of war and it can't be buffed. It is easily outclassed by any other weapon for a regular playthrough, but it looks absolutely fucking dope and for rl1 specifically it has no stats req, giving you the max possible flexibility with talismans.
Dist you are a literal fucking beast. And here I thought I was good for finishing my first Level 1 run the other day but I spent nearly 15 hours on Malenia and 10 on Radagon/Elden Beast. This is just incredible.

Im glad we have reached a peak for the unrestricted category (at least for a while) with that sub 7 minute run. The zippy runs are cool but I wanna see some categories where we have lots of fighting and cool strats for bosses 😊 So this is fun

@@dillonhall824 except the DS3 Speedrun was equally glitchy if not more because of the amount of skips and bugs you has to exploit, and people didn't really shitted on it as much as Elden Ring, mainly because of the new wave of players coming in with 0 knowledge on speedrunning and what any% means.
@@nicorobin8787 all the zip runs have "any% unrestricted" in the title. But I think the main problem is the influx of new players who aren't used to speedruns and aren't used dark souls speedruns

I think this is more entertaining to watch personally, my favorite speed runs of distortions were his all boss ds2 runs and this reminds me a bit of thay
@@realname8362 i like the any% runs because they will usually show you game play that you have never seen anyone else do and in many cases didn't even think was possible. also they are usually a lot quicker so there's less of a time investment to enjoy the run. For me personally after I've beaten the game a few times it almost feels tedious watching someone play through the whole thing like this. I don't know what it is, but maybe after spending hundreds of hours running around the map in the game, I become less interested in watching other people run around the map without the zips. That's not to say what Distortion2 does here isn't impressive, he is definitely among the best. Just that it doesn't have the same level of entertainment for me personally. Although I do respect that other people will have different views and may enjoy this run more than any of the others.
Actually, on speedrun's reviews i see a lot of comments like: he using glitches! It's easy-peasy... Or smthn. But... I realize, now many work and skill you need to do your speedruns and playthoughts! Keep up the good work! U r awesome.
So for weapons at RL1, scaling doesn't really matter right? If so you could go for the meteoric ore blade. It's right next to Fort Gael, where you go for Flame Grant Me Strength and the starscourge talisman. Might have to adjust talismans but it can definitely be used at RL1, does way more damage and bleed, you get the benefit of actually having a usable weaponskill. Just food for thought.
Would it stagger like this weapon tho? I thought it was strength related, but it seems has all to do with weapon damage type and weapon level, also charged R2s

@@josuemelena1478 doesn't matter because Soulsbornekiro is an actual run that's been done, so you either add on top of it or you don't do the real prestigious run.
No summons btw, agreed with that. Bosses are already RNG. Some have moves that puts you in a waiting queue, can't hit them, can only dodge or wait. Don't have to add more RNG to a run by summoning Tiche to oneshot a boss while some other guy just got an evading mouthbreather. It's not extra arbitrary, it just ensures that someone doesn't lose because their summon decided to dolphin-dive off the planet costing them half their damage.

It has a fucking S in STR scaling, great range, and a good moveset. It was always a great weapon.

The problem with Malenia isn't really the moves as much as the healing. Of course, I stacked into some moderate endurance.

That's not to say what Distortion2 does here isn't impressive, he is definitely among the best. Just that it doesn't have the same level of entertainment for me personally. Although I do respect that other people will have different views and may enjoy this run more than any of the others.

So for weapons at RL1, scaling doesn't really matter right? If so you could go for the meteoric ore blade. It's right next to Fort Gael, where you go for Flame Grant Me Strength and the starscourge talisman. Might have to adjust talismans but it can definitely be used at RL1, does way more damage and bleed, you get the benefit of actually having a usable weaponskill. Just food for thought.
Would it stagger like this weapon tho? I thought it was strength related, but it seems has all to do with weapon damage type and weapon level, also charged R2s
@@taXicity actually meteoric blade has a unique r2 for katana’s & charged r2 that does massive poise damage.

No summons btw, agreed with that. Bosses are already RNG. Some have moves that puts you in a waiting queue, can't hit them, can only dodge or wait. Don't have to add more RNG to a run by summoning Tiche to oneshot a boss while some other guy just got an evading mouthbreather. It's not extra arbitrary, it just ensures that someone doesn't lose because their summon decided to dolphin-dive off the planet costing them half their damage.
