She's amazing because she doesn't stop with just her vocals. She plays seven or eight different instruments, and really knows how to arrange and rearrange music. She shocked the daylights out of me when i watched 'Joyful Noise' I was like...whoa, Dolly has a rock voice?! You go girl!
Dolly Parton is one of the celebrities I use an example of when someone talks about talent! This woman can sing, write songs, play instruments, and play movies like I wish I can be THAT talented!
I remember seeing a video of her on TV back in the 70's where she was playing at a big outdoor concert. A big stadium show. She had nails at least twice as long as these, but nailed the performance (no pun intended). The song ended and as the TV special cut to a commercial break you could hear (no visuals) "Somebody gemme some paste....aaah broke a nail!" I can't do nails over 0.1mm even on my double bass. I HAVE NO IDEA HOW SHE DOES IT, and after that moment I was a lifelong Dolly fan.
@@professornuke7562playing the guitar or banjo too? I have a friend who always has super long nails and it’s impossible for her to play the piano even. I don’t think she plays the guitar or any other strings though. She’d probably slice it.😮
@@joshuahowe9417 She does. Not sure if that's what we were hearing on this particular video. Her style is 2-finger, and during the chorus she switched to strumming, but the track was still picking. No doubt she does play, though.
Wow, playing the banjo with long nails is another great talent Dolly has. I’m never going to eat my Apple Jacks the same again. Love that cereal.😂 What a fun song!
Dolly's smile and laugh totally melt me. They are so beautiful and genuine. ❤ I'm like Curly from the movie "City Slickers". I've never met her but ever since I first saw her as a teen growing up in the mid-1970's, she's been the love of my life. And still is to this day.
Strange, that song must have been a great hit in Europe too. I only untill recently knew Dolly Parton made that song but I know that song since I was very small.
Fell in LOVE with Dolly 40 odd years ago, Th Lil Lady Darlin,s voice n Beauty is unequaled in show biz world or anywhere else for that matter. Th Lady has reality stamped in n on her, Hell, I could ramble on all night about Dolly, she is my all time Favorite. her voice is booked for my trip over th river at th end my time here.
I ain't no apple Jack, u probably figured it out by now she says 😂 something I absolutely love about Dolly Parton, which is inspiring to me as a musician is that she's honestly like technically pretty average her instruments, and her singing is the average but it's all about who she is and the way she sounds and the whole entire thing put together… It shows you don't need crazy technical talent on the guitar to create a masterpiece
I like the line where she says, "I ain't no Grandpa Jones playing AppleJack...you probably figured that out by now..." Incredible voice, incredible talent, with an un-diva presence.
I got here through Willow Osborne, I wanted to hear Apple Jack with the voice of Dolly Parton whom I saw in a TV music show from the 70s, I liked the song.
i agree with this other poster: there are REAL voices and talents that are ignored in the plastic word of today's country music in favor of the Barbie-doll's and mumblin' cowboy hats... my friend Nancy could teach em a thing or two about singing, but she's not plastic and fake enough to make it in nashville now...she's too real for them. their loss.
So easy to make fun of people who are happy, patriotic, enthusiastic and know the blessings in their lives because they were raised spiritually. But when it comes to a human being's value--a 'dirt poor' mountain girl is far above the spoiled obscenely rich twits who are given everything. And probably a lot happier w/out having to pay for pills and analysts!
@@robparzych1905 hi, am making a comment again, cause I like this song, heard it every Friday when I was working on are milk round back in the mid 80s when my boss played on cassette in the milk lorry, was 16 back then, just lift school, & started working ,,,!
