Here are the ingredients of recipe if you are to lazy to go to the website: 1½ cups all-purpose flour (180g) 1½ cups old fashioned rolled oats plus more for topping (150g) ⅔ cup granulated sugar (133g) 1½ teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon plus more for topping ½ teaspoon salt ⅔ cup milk (120ml) ⅓ cup vegetable oil (60ml) 2 large eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cup mashed ripe banana (about 2 bananas/250g) ½ cup chocolate chips optional (90g)
Dear Mr. Preppy, To keep the chocolate chips you incorporate into the batter from settling down into the bottom of the baked muffins, before pouring the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, remove one tablespoon of flour from the dry bowl and dust your chocolate chips with it. Dusting the chips with flour will prevent them from sinking to the bottom of the muffins as they bake. This is a professional tip from an absolute amateur.
I'd love to see a video of egg substitutes! My bestie's kids are allergic, and I'd love being able to bake up some delicious treats for them as surprises periodically! And I totally appreciate that you said how long these muffins will last! Thank you for another amazing tutorial! 💕
Hello, John! I've made a few of your muffins from before, and they were great. Just baked these muffins tonight; they turned out even more delightful! I just made a few tweaks to the recipe, everything else went swimmingly. I decided to use less sugar; I opted for 50g as opposed to 2/3 cups.. As for the batter, I let it cooled in the fridge for an hour (it brought out extra aroma) and evenly distributed it once it returned to room temperature. Also added extra chocolate chips on top of the batter once distributed in the liners. Since I personally love the scent of cinnamon, I went ahead and sifted some on top of each muffin once baked and still warm. I was not disappointed at all! I love watching your videos, you are simply amazing at what you do best! Not only have I learned a lot from you (even though I'm only 20 and hadn't baked that much), you never cease to put such a huge smile on my face thanks to your positivity. As for the community and my fellow home cookers/bakers, I hope you give this recipe a try! - Will
Yay! My son is home from college and has been asking for banana bread…going to try this recipe instead and have a feeling it’s going to become a new favorite! I also didn’t know you can speed up the ripening process in the oven. Can’t count how many times I’ve gone to make bread and the darker bananas have been tossed. Always learning something new in your videos! Thanks again!
I always toss my “ old banana’s “ in the freezer - peel and all, they can then be thawed and used in any recipe calling for the golden treat fruit lol ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Just made these today with a few substitutions. I had 3 large over ripe bananas, so I used all 3. I added 1 Tbsp of psyllium husk powder, which absorbed the excess liquid, and used dried cranberries instead of chocolate. They came soo good. 😃. Thanks for the recipe.
I just made these and they are great! Perfect breakfast muffin because they are not too sweet and loaded with oats. I used coconut oil, and had some leftover streusel in the freezer for topping the muffins. I will definitely make these again! Love them!
Replaced oil with cottage cheese, replaced sugar with 209 grams of erytrytol (more than in recepie because it's not as sweet as auger but has 0 kcal) and they came up perfect. Thanks for this vid!
I just made them today and I must say this recipe is definitely getting added to my list! The muffins came out nice and fluffy and not dense whatsoever! I’m always nervous about them coming out that way but this recipe really didn’t fail. I did only use 232g of banana instead of the 250g but I can’t say it negatively impacted the outcome. Thank you for sharing such a great recipe and will definitely be making it again!

Loveeee that you explained the why’s for so many things in this video!! I like baking but never understood why, so i appreciate you taking the time to explain. Thanks, John! Excited to make these.
I just want to thank you for helping me make good muffins. I cook really good but bake not so much. I have made these twice for the grandkids now they got to have them every week for school breakfast and after school snack. These are great.
I just found your channel couple days ago and decided to try this recipe and my muffins came out delicious, I didn’t add the chocolate chips and just sprinkled some pumpkin seeds and oats. Thank you!!!!
Hey John, they're mesmerizing. I'm gonna do these lip-smacking muffins on weekends with my little cousin. And please keep explaining chemical reactions in cooking. II helps to brush up our cooking skills and understanding. Thanks a million!
I just made these as I had a few black bananas. I topped them with cinnamon and sugar. These, by far, are the most delicious muffins I have ever made/tasted. I am trying to hold myself back from eating more.
Just made these and my kid ate 3 in a row 😂 they’re so delicious. Made them in my silicone cupcake tray. They popped right out! No need for paper liners, which I love.
Hi John. As soon as I saw how fast this recipe was i decided to put my hands in action. Result …. AMAZING….I only have jumbo cup cake case so the recipe served 6 cakes with a seventh that didn’t fit that is why I experience with cup microwave version and 2 min 30 sec made magic and I got a delicious instant cake, however the oven bake ones were far better. I made these and wow, a big success. My brother is doing a health challenge so he has to stop drinking milk, i used almond milk instead and they are still delicious!
I love these muffins. Today for breakfast I broke one into smaller pieces, topped with a sliced peach, and added milk. What a delicious breakfast that was a tasty diversion from the normal choices.
I made a double batch this morning ,too many bananas for a single batch. Of course I only have one 12 cup cupcake pan and a 6 cup large muffin pan. I also didn't have enough oats for the double batch so I used a half cup of unsweetened coconut flakes. I sprinkled some large crystal sugar on the top of the large ones. They look and taste like something from a bakery. I left the large ones in for about 32 minutes. Another great recipe, thanks
Perfect recipe! Its turned out so delicious with light airy texture. No eggy smell and the little bit of chocolate chips adds a punch to the yummy muffin.
John, the tip you gave for using yellow green bananas and baking them in the oven totally rocks! It works perfectly. Thank you for that tidbit of information. These muffins are delicious, and I used my baked, not ready for prime time bananas.

This recipe is very good, the muffins come out perfectly! I made some with chopped pecans in them for me, topped all of them with just a touch of oatmeal like you did, and a few with cholate chips for my 4 kids..they all loved the muffins so did the neighbors and the UPS guys! My kids said the ones with just a few chips on top were the best..none of us really like many chocolate chips in anything, but a few on top was perfect! This is the 6th recipe of yours we have made. So far every single one was a hit and went in our family cookbook of keepers! The lemon cookies with a glaze, and the banana oatmeal cookies are awesome too!

Yes please..egg substitutes would be a great help! ( Maybe you could do it to include or a few videos it on a few substitutes, I.e if you don’t have sugar, or out of baking powder, etc). Everything is helpful. 😀 thanks John
JOHN!!! It's like you read my mind!!! Please do a video on egg substitutes for us vegans! Can't wait to see how it turns out! As always, thanks for changing my life one meal at a time 😁
I was going to make muffins today and this popped up. I wanted blueberry but would have to go to the grocer’s. Not happening. I have the bananas and oats so I’m going to try these, but tomorrow. My mother was a wonderful cook and baker. She used cardamom, saffron and anise. She made a cardamom toast (biscotti) which I love and some anise cookies I adored. The longer they sit, the better they taste. I love all of these spices plus ginger and nutmeg. I’ll be adding mini chips, walnuts and sprinkle with sanding sugar to my muffins, maybe. Have you ever made what people call donut muffins? They have the texture of pound cake, but the best part is dipping the entire muffin in melted butter and rolling in cinnamon sugar. My ancient recipe called them Feather Light Muffins, but I must say, there was nothing feather light about them. They are a huge favorite.
Hi John I just want to say that I subscribed to your channel, I just finished making these muffins, I followed the recipe exactly, put them in the oven for 18 minutes, took a cake tester and they came out perfect, I tasted one and it was delicious, keep those recipes coming
I ALSO DO THE SAME THING . I ALSO ADD OATMEAL IN BAKING BANANA BREAD . AND REALLY TASTE GOOD . BUT I DO COOK THE OATMEAL AND MIX IT WITH THE MIXTURE OF BANANA TOGETHER WOTH THE WET INGRIDIENTS AND THE LAST IS FLOUR
I just saw this video aaaaaannnnd... The temperature is diving down low right now aaaannnnd... I just so happen to have the perfect amount of browning banana, along with all of the other ingredients, right now! They are in the oven now and the family is pacing and hovering in wait. I only changed one thing. I used a raisin medley instead of chocolate chips. Don't judge me! It sounded good. We'll see how they turn out. I'm sure they'll be delicious, just like your other recipes I have tried!
It's weird but lovely, sometimes, when you're just thinking about making muffins, getting everything prepared, and then you get a loud notification from youtube and this happens to be the video 💙 if i wasnt allergic to oats this would be a perfect breakfast, but at least i know my fiance will enjoy 💙💙💙
Here are the ingredients of recipe if you are to lazy to go to the website:
1½ cups all-purpose flour (180g)
1½ cups old fashioned rolled oats plus more for topping (150g)
⅔ cup granulated sugar (133g)
1½ teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon plus more for topping
½ teaspoon salt
⅔ cup milk (120ml)
⅓ cup vegetable oil (60ml)
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup mashed ripe banana (about 2 bananas/250g)
½ cup chocolate chips optional (90g)
Thank you.
You're a real one🏆 👏 🙌 Thank you lol!!
Thank you. Tho i was on your website and couldn't find the amounts in the ton of ads, only pretty pictures of the ingredients.
This didn't work for me the dough was too hard and I kept adding milk
the video says 1 cup of mashed banana but that measuring cup looks like a 2 cup. I think it should be 2 cups of mashed ripe bananas?

They are a huge favorite.
love it the shape is so unique

Hi John
I just want to say that I subscribed to your channel, I just finished making these muffins, I followed the recipe exactly, put them in the oven for 18 minutes, took a cake tester and they came out perfect, I tasted one and it was delicious, keep those recipes coming
I forgot to say thank you. Thank you!
