Your tiesco looks like it would fit in with the indie crowd now a days
+Curtis I believe that it would. I still play it live maybe once or twice a year. People seem to dig that guitar.
they defo seems to have abit of a cult following
Jon Spencer springs to mind...😅
I have have just discovered my favorite youtube of all time.
Cool, man. The greatest gift when a parent gives their child a guitar isn't even the instrument but tolerating all the racket. Just ask my dad...
+WiredAl No doubt about that!
not gonna lie this was a pretty awesome video
Thanks.
its weirdly funny that you make me feel like a chiled when ever i watch you it relaxes me to feel this way thogh
+Toby Mcdonald That's good!
That Warlock is THE bomb. A 400 dollar guitar in 1987 was actually a real instrument. I mean, yeah B.C. Rich primarily does one thing well...metal. but, the clean sound on the older models is pretty good. I loved this compendium of all your guitars my friend. Another great vid! M
+MARSHOMEWORLD Thank you Mars, I knew you would appreciate it!
thanks for sharing your vids, I miss the 80's.
+Shane R. Thanks for watching Shane. Hope you enjoy them!
Subscribed ! Why ? Lol your sister and yourself reminded me of all the silly commercials and fun my sister and I had with making videos of ourselves -plus that weird bowl cut is strangely fascinating 😂😂😂
kurt... is that.. no
I was thinkin the same thing...
Alan Braun he looks more like ray luzier to me the drummer of Korn
“Here we got him during the reading festival”
+Carlos Juarez 😂
IKR!
Love the vid man. I have a Kent Model 690 (the same as a Teisco SS-4L, rebranded) with the 4 original goldfoil pickups and the same bizarre wiring configuration/switch setup.
Inherited from my Grandfather. One of my prized possessions due to the sentimental value.
That is AWESOME, Cody.
Hey Paul! This's a great video, and even cooler, my first electric was a 'Cipher' which was made by Teisco, and looked very similar to your's- it had those same switches, the gold plate & knobs, and my tremolo busted too! -your Bud
original vlogger 80's weird Paul, thanks so much, love that collection,I was looking forward to hearing(cold drinks)either way you put a smile on my dial, cheers!
+Anthony Lay Thanks! Hope this makes up for it! ua-cam.com/video/zZ3Pjq6Bwf8/v-deo.html
Love the harmony Mars models! One of the most underrated electric guitars ever produced.
I'm a huge nirvana fan. and honestly I love all of your guitars. after I watched this video for the first time. I went and looked for your guitars on eBay, just because I love the look of all of them. and they'd look great in my nirvana cover band. thanks for sharing your collection brother!
Thanks! I played at a Nirvana tribute show once. We did "On a Plain", "Lounge Act", "School" and "Tourette's"
Wow! That's a lot of guitars! I'm just starting guitar. I play accustom and electric and I love your video and how you incorporate videos from your childhood! Very nice!👍
+ModernGamer5 Thank you! I usually incorporate videos from my childhood in the videos I make! Watch some more if you get the chance!
Dude, this is excellent.
Love that you have a video or audio recording of everything.
Thanks! Still documenting as much as I can!
I miss Hills Department Stores. "Hills is where the toys are"! Like Heaven at Christmas time!
this is so awesome.. jeez am watching all your videos .. my first guitar was around 1998-99
Love the video. My first electric was a greenburst Teisco et-460 sold by Sears with a Silvertone badge. Bought new around 1966 for $80.
I have an H162 Harmony acoustic guitar-the only one I've kept all these years. Your guitar collection resembles my old one.
Great fun video. Teisco and Kay guitars - superb - and they should applauded for realizing so many dreams!
(I rescue, restore and collect them over here in the UK).
This is pretty amazing. You have all this footage from your earlier years. Cool! Nice guitars. Especially that willie nelson model.
This is a soothing video for me and almost makes me want to buy an electric guitar. That warlock looks sweet and still sounds meaty
You have some of the Japanese guitars I want now.
*I found a Teisco In The Alley In Perfect Condition!*
Going to customize it.
Love the models you have.
I really enjoyed this video about your collection of guitars. Thanks Weird Paul!
Thanks David!
Your channel is awesome!
Wow.What memorys..I remember y first guitar. It was a Beatles special..I got it for 12.00 dollars at Arlan's Dept store in Waterbury Connecticut in 1964..I was 13_then.I played and played it till I knew where every note was on it .And I learned all the major chords to. Then in 1967 I got a Fender Telecaster and a Marshall amp.I think the guitar was 169.00 bucks and the amp was about39.99 if I remember correctly..I formed a band.It was me playing lead Bobby playing base Angelo played Ryt and Danny was our drummer..We all practiced in Angelo's fathers garage. We played a lot of music.Rolling Stones The Young Raskels The Beatles The YardBirds etc.We called ourselves The White Clouds for a while then we changed it to The Buzzards.I still have that guitar.
Paul, your channel is still the best.
I don't know if it was Tiesco, or maybe it was Sears & Roebuck, but one of them originally came with a case that had an amp built into it. Hey Paul, I know the '87 Warlock is your main gigging guitar, but if you break a string live, what do you use as a backup? How many guitars do you usually take to a gig?
Cool video. I found your drive to Hills video earlier and have been watching since. My first guitar was a JB Player Sledgehammer that I got in 1995. It wasn't a very good guitar, but I'd love to still have it. It was stolen along with my Mexican strat. I'd also still love to my families home videos from the 80s and 90s.
it's brilliant you have all the videos you made back in the 80s. an amazing journey through the collection :)
Thanks Matthew. I often upload videos of me playing guitar in the 80s: ua-cam.com/video/EFJ_dAfClf8/v-deo.html
It's brilliant you have kept these. Many people have lost or got rid of their old takes. Fantastic stuff! Greetings from the UK :)
I'm very lucky!
absolutely love the tiesco
Great video and nice guitars!!
Have you acquired any more guitars since this video was made? I seem to recall a Mail Day video where a viewer sent you a white B.C. Rich Warlock, if I remember correctly.
Tiesco was Japanese budget instrument manufacturer until the late 60s. The brand was bought up by Kawai in 1969. They also made some synths apparently. :) www.vintagesynth.com/misc/sx400.php
+Kristian Wontroba Man, I'd love to have one of those!!
Yaaaas! " Tom ate a banana!" I had a minor freak out! one of my favorite tracks! & the Warlock! Guitar stories are always great! plus hearing your Dad on the tape! hee!
+stephanie benesch I love it when he yells "who left the door open?" lol
Love the Red Burst Pawn Shop Specials.
hey man great video! love the harmony. We just played with you last night at sidebar(antiquities) the first band. You are supremely kick ass live!
You guys were great! Sounded very powerful!
I have pretty much that exact same Teisco guitar. It was given to me in the 80's by my uncle. I think it was originally purchased from Sears or JC Penney sometime in the early 70s
"Hill's is where the Toy's are" How i miss those day's..
Such guitar, much wow
+TheEpicElluminati Very thanks
i love that harmony mars model guitar looks awesome sounds good too
Me too
I wonder what would be you *DREAM* Guitar? Mine is the Prince Cloud
I remember Hills! My mamaw used to take me there and let me walk up and down the toy aisle..occasionally she would even buy me something!
That was in New Castle, Indiana
I'm an automatic fan! I'm weird Aaron as far as my friends are concerned. Just now checked out this video. The only one of yours, so far. My first electric guitar was a Heit DeLuxe. Think it was $20. Got it at a pawn shop in the early or mid 90's. Your Teisco reminded me of it. My first guitar, period, was a plastic Mickey Mouse guitar in mid 70's, I think. Thanks! I'll check out some more of your posts. Have a groovy day!
Thanks Aaron! Thank you for watching!
The teisco was 8 dollars???wow!
I own a (maybe 1976) Univox Hi-Flier phase 3.. I heard they were pretty cheap back then... I payed an amount of money and I think its sound is great... Do you know if it's comparable to the teisco?
+buruno2m Yeah $8. It was easier to find guitars like that back then, 30 years ago. I am not sure about the Univox, I'll have to look that up...
Kurt Cobain and The Ventures used those extensively! They're awsome guitars, Eastwood still makes them!
Awesome video. My first guitar back in 1988 was a piece of crap "CSL Blazer" strat copy but a few months later I saw an amazing looking PRS clone made by Epiphone advertised in a guitar magazine. I had to have it and so I got my mom to buy it for me, mail order, shipped from the US to the UK. I didn't even need to try it, I knew it was for me. I've had the guitar ever since. Recently I discovered that this model, the Epiphone Spotlight, is very rare and there were possibly only 100 made before PRS threatened them with a lawsuit and they stopped making it. Nice to have a piece of guitar history. These days I also have an American made Telecaster which is a total workhorse of a guitar.
Only 100 made! Wow!!
cool video! Thank you for sharing this. you Rock!
+Trish Mullins Thanks Trish!!
you're awesome, Paul. Are you self taught? Because you are very talented!
I am self taught, thank you!
Found a Teisco today. Browsing the Fleamarket in Shitennoji Japan I will look for it next time.I was a little reassured to find someone who smashes guitars and enjoys it. I did something similar ...maybe worse, definitey worse. At 17 I had an old beat up, dinged, Firemist gold Stratocaster ,bought for 5 UK Pounds but I wasn't diligent about practising ,got bored and neglected it.Fenders were not considered collectable in late 60"s My friend suggested we do a Pete Townsend guitar smash at the back of his house . It was tough but We killed it good. 45 years later I reckoned a collector would have paid upwards of 20000 pounds for it. I need a Time Machine.
wow ! ! !
Great video
Revisiting this video because I still cherish my first electric guitar six years later, and now it’s heavily modified with a humbucker and a Floyd Rose. I’m sure you still heavily cherish your B.C. Rich Warlock, Paul! I recently upgraded to a really nice Gibson SG! Rock on 🤘, brother! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🎸🎸🎸
Editing to ask: Do you still do epic dive bombs with that Kahler?
Great video. I love the line, "Hi, this is Fred, and this is Red. Yeah, and this is dumb."
+Wayne Garton Thanks! It was dumb.
Hello! I've been a subscriber for a long time, but I haven't said a word in a while. Your guitar is an Intermark Cipher to be exact! I have a 1965 model, very similar but without the aluminum part. I dig this video!
+Thomas S. A Cipher! Thank you so much, I never knew that! And thanks for subscribing!
Cool guy!!! Love the vid!
Thanks Richard!
Those Tiesco Del Ray guitars are actually pretty good guitars for the beginner player. Do you still have the stereo and speaker you used as an amp back in the day? Do you use this guitar as a back-up for your Warlock in case you break a string or something?
What about the Fender Jaguar on the back cover of your Pop Bus 7"? Did you borrow it?
Yes. I hadn't brought a guitar to that show and someone lent me theirs.
Is there any chance that we can hear the full version of "Tom Ate A Banana" ?
very cool
Your first electric guitar is an “Intermark Cipher” hell yes hell yes! With changed pickups. $8.00 ohhhhh yeah. Greatest vid I’ve seen all day 🤟🏼
man oh man gotta honestly say I am now subscribed! hahaha
Thanks for subscribing!
3:24 what is this guitar??????
U have a couple cool guitars and the teisco are still cool old school cheap vintage guitar depending on what u got polish ur frets though u inspired me to look for a teisco or maybe a harmony or something similar they look so cool and sound really bright and jangy I'd rather pay a 120 for a cool 60s 70s guitar than a monoprice even though some of them are good quality I love th ese guitars
Cool video
the switches on the tiesco being right above the strings is interesting. seems like it'd be easy to hit them on accident haha
Those teisco guitar electrics used to hang on a rotating rack at thriftys and at 1966, for 15 - 40 bucks....
why your quality it's like mini dv or VHS?
Hills Department Store was the best! I grew up in PA, but very close to Ohio. That was the best place to shop.
great guitars and vid
I love the song "What a meal" You think we could have a guitar battle someday?
That would be fun!
Great
Nice, man. I have an old Sears Silvertone, the kind that had a case with a built in amp originally. I never had that though.
+munchycrunchypancake Sweet. My first amp was one that my dad built for me and it looked like a suitcase with speakers in it...maybe that's what it was!
That's pretty cool, man. Do you still have it?
I wish I did...the second amp he made me was incredible. It was about four feet high with a slanted wood top, a red cloth over the front with a silkscreened WP on it AND it was made with car speakers and an amplifier that had a RADIO in it! Sometimes during my shows, I'd say, "Let's listen to some real music" and I'd put the radio on and Led Zeppelin would be coming out of my amp! But I don't have that anymore either, it was too big to move around so it got dismantled.
I think I can safely assume that your dad is the best.
I never really liked bc riches but that warlock you had was awesome also I really like the other electrics and I really like the 12 string acoustic!
Thanks William! The BC Rich has kind of become my trademark guitar now.
Yes Paul and you seem fine to me. My first guitar I bought when I was a kid in Ireland. I took a couple buses into Dublin and for my total net worth of 17.00 bucks American I got an acoustic guitar and an extra pack for Black Diamond Strings. I played the thing into dust. I teach medicine in a state university and the guy delivered a D28 Martin to my house. I love electric guitars the most and just built a Jazzmaster and corrected it problems as I screwed the bitch together. I will look for your videos. Very real and very cool.
Nice! How many years have you been playing now?
WEIRD PAUL - ORIGINAL VLOGGER 80'S I have been playing about 55 years and 41 professionally.
Those are some amazing guitars.
Thanks James!
my buddy has a old beat up teisco tulip :)
My right ear loved this
That's good!
Cool. Guess everybody has to smash a guitar at least once in their life! You got one of your early guitars as a Birthday/Christmas gift. Ah, I remember those years. I was born in December and got quite a few of those Birthday/Christmas gifts growing up. My sister was born in July. How come she never had to share a gift between her Birthday and Christmas? Oh well, I still made out OK. But maybe deep in my memories it must have bothered me. That must be why I buy so much stuff at Yard Sales today (lol). Good video, thanks! -- Atco
+atco21117 Yeah that was the breaks. My son's birthday is New Years' Day so he was in the same boat.
was that "repo man" by Iggy Pop, for the smashing scene?
No, it's "Low End of the Cake" by Weird Paul
weirdpaul.bandcamp.com/track/low-end-of-the-cake-2
3:22 I want to know more about this one
Do you consider your Warlock guitar your signature guitar? Just being curious.
yes I do
That BC rich warlock still works today??? Jeez after all those years and you still perform with it. Wow what a guitar. That's what? 30 years old? Did you replace any parts or make repairs over time?
Celebrating 30 years of playing it, next month! One screw down at the bridge got bent about 10 years ago when I got knocked into the drum set while playing, during a fight. That's the only part that has been replaced, besides the piece around where the instrument cable plugs in, one of the knobs and the pick-up switch - those fell off and got lost.
Liked how u pushed the little guy out of the way with the guitar neck ✌🇺🇸
Goode job, Fellow music enthusiast
+JosuerrSkawp Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
AX-cellent video W.P. ;)
I had the 420th like too! HAHA!
ThAXnks!
The Harmony Stratotone Mars and the one before it look identical in body shape and even headstock. Mine is the H45, and unfortunately nowhere as near to original as both of yours. I, too, have the Harmony acoustic guitar, rescued, repaired, and resting on my wall, ready to play :)
Great video.
Not sure about Weird Paul, more like Awesome Paul.
It is indeed an Intermark guitar, and it's got cheap Strat style replacement pickups rather than the originals. I've still got an original set of Intermark pickups with a pickguard.
Nice.
really interesting
Hey Paul, what amp do you use now in 2018?
I've been using the same amp for about 15 years now. A Marshall valvestate 8080 that my parents found at a rummage sale for a dollar!
Aaaaaaaa dollar!!!!!!!? For a Marshall?!!!, gotta love the 80s that's awesome :)
Paul, make video in stereo audio, i hear it's the new thin these days
Although your guitar resembles somewhat of a vintage Teisco, from reverse image searches, your first guitar is a 1965 Intermark Ranger MIJ.
How long have you been playing guitar? I started when I was 6
I've been playing guitar for about 32 years. I was 14 when I got mine.
Cool
great guitar skills you wrote some waky songs i love them
+CunDon Avenue Thanks! I'm still writing them!
cool keep going i love your songs aspecially the whine coolers song made me laugh so much i played the song like five times over in one day it made my mum laugh too she loved it.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
If you don't mind me asking where do you do your shows?
I live in Pittsburgh so I used to do most of them here. But now I am starting to tour around the US.
Awesome 😊 if I do see you can you sign my peanut butter jar
I have 3 guitars. Kid-size Kay, Ibanez Roadstar II 1986?, and a Harptone accoustic. Its missing the pick guard because some jerk tore it off and threw it across the room completely unprovoked. I should have shoved that pick guard where the sun don't shine and sent a bill for a $1200 guitar. Nice collection.
+Henry S Sweet Ibanez. That guitar-hating jerk!
Ibanez- goodwill. $75 bucks.
Great price.
Perfect for the TP Lucky song
This is fiiiiiiirrrre!!!!
Thanks!
It's got to be fulfilling, documenting your life so properly..
Love your guitars man,, they have attitude 😂
Thanks! They each are very unique in their own way!
I got my first guitar yesterday
Great news! Have fun!
