  • I have a mild (!) guitar addiction, and have accumulated a lot of guitars over the years. In this video I take a look at the three Teisco guitars I have.
    Timestamps
    00:00 1967 Teisco EV-52T
    05:50 1967 Teisco EP-200T
    08:00 1969 Teisco EP-17T
(Apologies, this is my first video edited in Premiere Pro, there are some issues but it took forever!)

AWSOME!! I just picked up a Teisco that has 4 pick ups. Stayed on a closet for 37 years. Mint

I had one of the solid body Mosrite style - flat fingerboard-- gorgeous tone and build quality - lesser models were sold at Lowes hardware in the 1960's.

I have a 1968 Teisco EP 2T red in colour had it since I was 10!! My mum bought it from the guitarist in the theatre band at the time doing "Godspell".

It's pronounced "TEYE SCO", I lived in Japan from 63-66 and was given a SS-4L for Christmas in 1964 they purchased it from the Navy Exchange in Yokohama, also a Teisco 71-R 1964 Vintage Tube Amp with Reverb & Tremolo modules on board.

The first and 3rd guitars are rare and seldom seen, especially the first one which is probably worth Between $1000 and $1600

Cool Teisco collection! BTW, it’s pronounced “Tie-sco”, not “Te-sco”. It’s an anagram-Tokyo Electric Instrument Sound Company. My first electric guitar was a 1964 Teisco-built St George. And in college in 1969, a friend of mine had the bass version of the EP-200.
The first one you showed, with the built-in effects, is pretty wild! Get the right battery connector in there so you can show us what it sounds like! Built-in effects was kind of a thing in the lare ‘60s and early. ‘70s-I remember Vox had a line of guitars in ‘67 that had really awful built-in effects, including a wah-wah that was actuated by the heel of the right hand on a triangular lever behind the bridge. Psychedelic! And hard to pick while using the thing.

When I was ten years old, in 1967, I took guitar lessons like all inspiring rock-n-roll musicians did in my day. There was a teenage next to me in class who had a Teisco with a builtin amp. Back then, I thought that was so cool. Of course I did not get one for Christmas.

Thanks! It was nice to do this video - I don't play these guitars much and I found that they play and sound good in the studio. I might do some recordings with these soon.

David Lindley and his good buddy Ry Cooder frequently played Teisco guitars (if you don't know who they were, you should look them up ---- you can find many videos of Lindley and his mutant reggae-rock/world music band ElRayo-X on UA-cam, in big stages around the world). I'm told that Robert Smith of the Cure also played one.

I think your EP-17T is older than 1969. The tailpiece and a few other factors would indicate 1964 or a bit earlier.
