  • Here's how to change the properties and colour of the canvas in a Camtasia 2020 project. You can also change the size in pixels (HD, 4K, etc.) and the background colour, as well as the framerate for the project.

Simple and to the point... thanks Cristi! Using this tip is helpful for a current video project although I came looking to find out how to infill edges of the canvas when using vertical/portrait oriented video from my phone's front camera. Not sure if you've covered that in another video or not. BTW I was able to apply the mirror/flip tip from you to make the video orientation look right because you helped me with that already😎
    Best, Matt

Thank you so much for this. Can't believe they make this so hard to find.

Glad I could help. I actually think it makes sense where it is because it's a project-wide setting, so it's normal that it should be with the project settings. Sometimes I find that I want different backgrounds and in that case, I don't change the canvas, I just add a rectangle annotation behind everything and give it any color I want.

Hi Cristi, thank you for all your great tutorials. I am struggling with the transparent background inside grouped media. I use many light grey shapes and arrows for educational tutorials, but I am not able to see them because of this new feature of transparent background in groups. If you know if this can be changed to the same color of the canvas as in Camtasia 2022 I would highly appreciate your help.

I'm not sure what you mean, groups have always been transparent, meaning you can see through the objects inside a group. Not sure what you're trying to accomplish but feel free to hop over to our Camtasia Facebook group so we can see if I can help you there: facebook.com/groups/camtasiahelp
