some of my favorites are the ones with the "must have slipped my mind" character because i swear it's like dave plays a character written for kevin the way kevin would play the character and kevin plays a character written for dave the way dave would play the character, so it's not like they're just playing characters, they're acting like the other actor playing the character. just look at their mannerisms & speech patterns in those sketches and it seems like dave playing kevin playing a character and kevin playing dave playing a character.
Kevin: Why thank you but it's not like I'm part of an alien race that has advanced sarcasm skills. Control, CONTROL, this is delphi 7. My mission is in jeopardy, destroy the planet!
This is one of my favorite Kids in the Hall sketches, too. I rarely remember the title -- they didn't run the sketch titles on the original airings but they're in the synopses for most streaming services that carry KITH now. It does remind me of multiple things besides the Looney Tunes Duck Dodgers shorts. There was a Star Trek episode with a character named "Gary Seven" who was a human being trained by aliens to observe earthly activities and try to steer humanity on the right course. Now, the fact Dave's character in this sketch is called "Delphar Seven" is another thing that leads me to believe the sketch was inspired by that Star Trek episode, "Assignment: Earth." Regardless, this sketch is a nice piece of writing.
wait. What do they use to transmit signals where you're from? Are you from some kind of advanced civilization where devices send messages without antennae?
01:48 Canadian comedian and alien operative David Foley Destroyer of WORLDS. '" Father of the Atomic BOMB, Physicist, Oppenheimer, RIP, will never hold a candle to you in this area. Oppenheimer, RIP, wrote "“Now I am become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds”. In the sand after the first successful nuclear test conducted by the USA."
So am I pointing out the obvious, or did anyone else realize Kevin's' tiny umbrella was an homage to Wile E. Coyote? No one does the boss/subordinate dynamic better, regardless of the planet. Saw the whole series on it's first HBO run, and to this day Kevin's "Yes! Yes! You are dead last on my popularity list" is one of many KITH phrases that keeps bouncing around my brain.
I rarely encounter sketch comedy as bizarre and brilliant as what they casually pumped out on the regular. "Kids in the Hall Tier" is the highest possible compliment I have. They should've founded a comedy academy or something to pass on their ways 👽✨
A while ago, someone told me that helmet was a Don Post recreation of Darth Vader's helmet from the original Star Wars trilogy! It certainly looks like a modified Vader helmet the Village People might used in their act! LOL
This one is top 5 of my all time fav skits. So simple but played so purposely dumb at the same time by Kevin and Dave. Kevin's helmet just cracks me up so much. It's so ridiculously funny. Like a parody inside of another parody of Dr. Who-era sci-fi shows. And this skit shows exactly how Kevin's unique, big-eye facial expressions truly are. His body language just gets funnier and funnier the more I watch this. These guys were genius'.
I think what adds to this sketch is that there's a glimmer of what MacDonald is going to do later in Invader Zim . Adds another layer of color to the whole thing.
... And the ensemble Kevin is wearing in this piece comes from the Canadian Nelvanna Studios (movie) serial adaptation of "Captain Video and his Space Rangers."
I love this sketch, quote it allllllllllllllll the time... ....and nobody know what I'm talking about, heh. OH, SO YOU KNOW! CONTROL CONTROL THIS IS DELFAR 7!
If someone could get Richard Stephen Horowitz to do a dub of this over David's lines as Invader Zim and have him talk to Kevin MacDonald as Almighty Tallest Purple, and then do some animation for it, that would be great to see.
@@ProjectFlashlight612 Clearly he's a he since in this portrayal he's played by Dave Foley who is a male. Hope that wasn't not too hard for you to spot.
The sketches where Dave and Kevin play off each other are arguably the funniest. The Sizzler Sisters robbing a bank is my favorite KITH sketch ever
The best one they did was the Anal Probe sketch!

Also the sarcasm speech impediment sketch, classic 😂
No one on planet earth can master sarcasm the way Kevin has 😂

yes, space sarcasm
It's because of this sketch that I call everything in sci-fi movies "space _____".
"We get it... you're from SPACE!" - Piccolo
“I’m not here to win any popularity contests.”
“Oh, you haven’t!”
Best line reading ever.
For over 20 years, I've used that same line and inflection whenever someone says something like that!

I bet you can still get them at the space ACME store.
Sharp!
Space Wile E. Coyote shops there all the space time!
Kevin's face when he says "can you see the problem?" makes me laugh every time.
Kevin's the nicest boss ever. Perfect mix of pleasant, passive-aggressive, still afraid of HR blowback.
A nice change of pace from all the "real life conversation with toxic manager" videos you see on UA-cam these days.
No one does passive aggressive like Kevin. This was the first Kids sketch I ever saw.
This is one of the best ones to start with lol. This and the "Watching Your Dad Get Pathetically Drunk."
This is one of my favorite Kids in the Hall sketches, too.

Quite possibly Kevin's most iconic expression/gesture.
It's official.
Kevin is the son Daffy Duck NEVER claimed!
The earliest view of Kevin as the All Mighty Tallest
haha

I don't think it ages.
30+ years later, and it's remains funny. It's timeless!

I came to watch this video specifically for that line.
I love that after all these years I'm still finding skits I've never seen before
OH SHIIIIIIIITTTTT LOLOLOLOLOL
Back in the day it was easy to miss an episode unless you VCR'd it or caught a rerun!
The Key & Peele effect - at least for me
I love old metal antenna on the “advanced” alien remote control.
Moreso, I don't think Dave's even holding a radio lol. I think it's just the antenna.

These guys are legends. Their skits were not only hilarious, but so ridiculous with great social commentary.

Of all the comedy sketch shows, I think KITH came up with some of the most creative, non-cliche scenarios.
Whitest Kids U Know is pretty far out. Same for Portlandia, I never know what's gonna happen.
I Think You Should Leave is truly out of pocket.
These guys were bonkers ahead of their time! Classic comedy gold!
I like the car antenna. Only the Kids can end sketches so damned horribly yet so damned wonderfully.
Probably a walkie talkie, they had pull-up antenna. Same with portable radios.
The tiny umbrella sells the whole gag.
I really enjoyed that little looney tunes style umbrella at the end.
The MANY different sketches they did are pure GOLD. And they must of kept the set designers VERY busy!!
Really takes me back to a more innocent happy time. Thank you forever!
