    I had a buyer rate me five stars and then a full month later lower her rating because she claimed that she received dirty items (which is really funny because I actually washed both items before sending them out which I don’t always do if it’s not needed). I feel like Poshmark should have a time limit to when you can change your rating. You shouldn’t be able to change it months down the road, it doesn’t make sense!

    With low balls I do the same as you. It always makes me roll my eyes when I list something at 50. They offer 20 I counter 38 then they counter 37. Of course I accept because I'm not going to lose a sale over one dollar but I'm always like "really? Ok you won." The bargainers are fierce!

    I only sell my personal items to declutter (aka I'm not a full reseller) but I've noticed that I'm much more likely to make a sale if I send an offer as soon as possible after someone likes an item. Often I think the shopper gets excited about the find and if you send an offer right away they're more inclined to accept and purchase.

    The one good thing about people adding just one item to a bundle is you can make an offer to the potential buyer without including a shipping discount.

    I loved your lowball offer example. my very first offer was on a lululemon jacket. I feared I offered too low. (price 55, I offered 40, she countered at 55, I declined). I now feel my offer was fair enough. lol. she just wasn't willing to accept less.

      @@rachellep537 I asked her a few videos ago and she said she just uses her listing photos as her evidence. For me personally, I photograph each item and make sure that in the pics I take it has a paper with the buyers username and sold date on it. And I videotape my sales. But that would be too much for someone who sells as much as her to do. For me, I make maybe 40-50 sales a week so its doable. But if my sales pick up in the future I might just have to do what she does. Just make sure your listing pictures are good and the description is thorough. Posh is usually good with cases at just letting the seller keep their money and then refunding the buyer. I've only had one case where the buyer had to send the item back because their case wasnt valid. Every other time weve just both got our money. So posh is pretty good at protecting its sellers too. But they definitely need to work on weeding out scammers because all of my cases have been scam cases where there were no flaws and the buyer faked them.

    • @Chicago48

      I had a very strange thing happen on Posh. Very strange. One of my orders did not scan by the post office. After 3 notices from Posh, I filed a missing mail report with the USPS. I notified Posh that I filed a missing mail report. Anyhow, I wrote Posh that since the buyer didn't complain about a missing package could they contact the buyer to see if he received the sweater. POSH NEVER DID. Instead, they refunded the buyer his money. I wrote the buyer to find out - did you receive the package? Yes, they did! I kept writing posh that the buyer received the order, do not refund money. It was refunded. So something is wrong with POSH and refunds. If the buyer doesn't complain about not receiving the package, then you assume they received it; right? What's wrong with contacting the buyer to verify that they received it?

      @@Chicago48 Your issue actually lies with your post office. I had drivers who would pick up packages and not scan my packages. As a former FedEx driver, that means that the package is not registered as being in the custody of the shipping company. Its like you never mailed it and the insurance on the package is no good. After filing a couple complaints with USPS, all my packages are scanned as received when they are picked up at my door or when I drop them off at the post office.This is standard shipping policy for all shipping companies but not all drivers or counter workers do it.

    Great topic! It’s nice to know how you handle the same situations is the same way I handle them. Very reassuring 😉 I liked Ambers comment about the true to size question. I list all measurements in each listing and say that all brand sizes vary which is why I put actual measurements in each listing new and pre-owned. Plus if items are pre-owned it has probably shrunk a little because of wash/drying. Hopefully this helps!

    I have a good one. I shipped a package and the tracking indicates that the buyer was left a notice because there was no secure location available to leave their package. The buyer had not bothered to pick it up from the PO and it’s been 3 days since the attempt was made to deliver said package. I did tag the buyer via my original post to tell her of the delivery attempt, I had no other way of communicating with her so I hope that she picks it up and accepts but still. I did contact Poshmark support and they want me to notify them if the package has not been delivered by the 30th. Interesting situation but I really wish posh wouldn’t make me, the seller, wait that long. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I wrote back to them and said, my mail box is at the end of the road, the minute my Poshmark items hit my box the 3 day count down beings even if I DON"T wander down the street to get my mail, why is a PO Box treated so different?

    Great video and great conversations! A note about the tracking, they are supposed to scan your packages when you drop them off or when they pick them up otherwise if one goes missing you cannot prove you ever mailed it. For a while my packages were not getting scanned until they reach the airport or the next distribution center, and a 160 dollar pair of boots went MIA. I talked to the post office about their scanning procedures and they straightened it out with the drivers. As soon as they arrive to pick up packages they are now scanned as soon as the driver gets to his truck.The 160 dollar boots did turn up, but it has to be noted that without the scan indicating that the post office has your packages in their custody the insurance on the package is no good.

    Thanks for the video! Im always interested to hear how other people answer questions like this!
    The question I frequently get that I have a hard time answering is: Is this true to size? I never know how to respond to this. Measurements are in the listing. A "true" size small can vary a ton from brand to brand. For example, an Affliction top and a Soft Surroundings top have very different sizes for size small. So what is their frame of reference for what "true" size small is.

      littleblackhanger answered this really well in a video on her channel. You should check it out if you haven't seen it! Just off my memory, I believe she said her response is always very vague - never truly saying yes or no, but always directing the customer to the measurements for fit.

    • @HillsAliveYT
      @HillsAliveYT 5 років тому +1

      This was the first question I thought of too. I usually direct them towards the general measurements chart for that specific brand and ask them if they have a particular measurement they're concerned about, because a lot of times someone knows if they have a specific random measurement like their arm circumference or length or something that tends to fit too big or too small, but I always ask myself the same question, WTF does "true to size" even mean and why does everyone seem to ask about it specifically.

    • @restylesecrets8251
      @restylesecrets8251 5 років тому +6

      Lol I’ve decided the translation is “do you think it will fit me?” I say “I’m not sure - do you have a similar style that you love? Maybe measure that and compare to this one. I hope it works out!” They still don’t buy, but it’s fun to believe. 😂

    I would love to know some examples of cases you’ve had and how many cases Poshmark sellers can expect to get? How long did it take for someone to open up a case against you when you started selling? What’s the most bizarre case you’ve ever had and how did you handle it? I started selling part time (I’m a stay at home mom trying to help make some extra money) two months ago and I just want to be prepared and know what to expect if someone opens up a case against me. Thanks!

      Technically trading is poshmark compliant. If you read their regulations. It says you can trade but that they are not responsible for if someone doesn't ship, if the items arent as described, etc. Just a heads up :)

    Hi Jenna! Another annoying situation is when customers ask about pricing, or complains about pricing in the comments. "Will you go lower than $15" (my lowest offer to them), "lowest?", or "$20 is just too high for me." I kindly let them know that I don't negotiate in the comments, then I sometimes relist the item so I can start fresh, without my lowest offer on that item clearly visible for everyone else to see. Thanks for all your helpful videos!

      Melissa valero I just had someone low ball me on an item. I kept countering my lowest offer. Then in the comments she said her offer was completely reasonable and didn’t like that I didn’t budge. I replied with Poshmark takes 20% it’s the lowest I will go. I don’t know how else to respond to that comment.

    It is important to added about a buyer wanting to cancel the order, you need to select other and give a brief explanation. That cancellation does ding your posh stats, but the good out weighs the bad eventually. I have cancelled orders for buyers and feel it is good business practice.

    I think the worst is buyers who open false cases. I had someone put water on a shirt to make it look like stains, and then send the pics to posh. Even though I had submitted pictures proving that the item was in perfect condition at the time of shipment (pictures taken with buyers username and sale date on a paper included in each picture) the buyer still was released their money back. I think poshmark really needs to work on not allowing scammers to do that. I understand they want both parties happy, but if as the seller I provide proof that the item was in perfect condition, then the buyer should not be released their money. Because I've had over 10 cases opened and only one has resulted in the buyer having to send the item back to me. All the others were resolved by the buyer and me getting to keep the money. Which in the end isnt cool because I had proof in all of those cases that the claims were false.

      I had someone soak a corner of a purse in water and claim it was a stain. When the bag came back it was dry and no longer looked damaged. I photographed it with the return packaging in one of the frames and I submitted them on the case page. There is a drop down says release funds or "report a problem" or some such language. I clicked report a problem and I submitted updated photos after the bag was returned showing that the claimed damage was BS. Poshmark reversed its decision to award the buyer and they paid me for the handbag, return shipping fees and said I could keep the purse. they also said "appropriate actions would be taken against the buyer".
      Even after Poshmark decides against you, I've been able to have those decisions reversed twice after the returned item was delivered back .

I had a customer ask if an item was authentic.I mean really? Why would u ask a question like that? Especially when other potential buyers can see it. So as for me I ignore some questions. Sadly some folk are not on Poshmark with good intentions.

      The authentic comment is pretty common especially on higher name brands (because you can't sell fakes on Poshmark). If you have an item (say a Coach purse) and you know it is authentic respond yes and provide proof of the tags in your listings. You can also include the word authentic in your listing when you first list it.

    Also my biggest tip to anyone reading this....I always respond to every single lowballer. As a buyer, people sometimes take the really low offers because they want things gone. Even if they offer like 8 dollars on an 120 dollar item, I’ll given them 110 back. (then we might go back and forth) People who block over it or get all upset are really missing out. Low ballers are potential buyers...they have EYES on the item. Sometimes people do take very low ball offers. Also it’s a game for some, they want to haggle and get the best price. The rest of the world, haggling is everything and a major part of selling culture. A lot of people on posh, just want to see how low they can get it.

I wouldn't even make any money from that sale. I could just donate the item and it would be a lot easier for me than to accept their offer and then have to mail it to them. This actually happened btw... and when I came back at $7, they denied it.

    I recently came across what I hope isn't an issue, but for the first time the post office lady this morning refused to give me a receipt explaining that the date on the label (when Poshmark purchased the shipping) was different than the day that I was shipping. Being in a hurry and not really understanding why that would have been an issue and having dropped off packages in the past without waiting for a receipt, I asked her to add them to the other priority packages and left. 12 hours later, there is no tracking information! I'm not really a rude person but I think that will change if I don't see progress on my shipping.
