  • The refreshed 2024 Kia Sorento, which was revealed a few months ago, has now been fully unveiled, providing all the information on the updated version of the mid-size SUV that will soon be available at U.S. dealerships. In addition to the revamped front and rear ends, the Sorento boasts an enhanced interior with new features, as well as a new off-road trim level called X-Pro.
The noticeable changes at the front include new headlights and a redesigned grille, while the rear showcases more modern taillights. The SUV also sports fresh wheel designs and introduces two new colors: Midnight Lake Blue and Dawning Red.
Inside the vehicle, the infotainment screen has grown bigger and comes with new software that features reorganized menus and additional connectivity options, including over-the-air updates. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard on the 12.3-inch touchscreen available on all trim levels. Higher trims also offer a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster screen, while lower trims have a smaller 4.3-inch display in the gauge cluster.
The LX, S, EX, SX, and SX-P trims carry over from the previous model, but there is a new package called X-Pro that provides a more off-road-focused upgrade compared to the X-Line option, which is primarily an appearance package. The X-Pro includes 17-inch wheels with BF Goodrich all-terrain tires in addition to the X-Line's roof rack and skid plates. While the X-Line can be added as a package to the all-wheel-drive EX, SX, and SX-P trims, the X-Pro is only available as an option for the SX-P, making it likely to be a more expensive configuration.
No changes have been made to the Sorento's powertrain options, with the LX and S trims still equipped with a 191-hp 2.5-liter inline-four engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The EX, SX, and SX-P trims come standard with an upgraded engine-a 281-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four-alongside an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (although we experienced issues with this transmission during our 40,000-mile test of a Sorento SX). Both engines come with front-wheel drive as standard, with the option to upgrade to all-wheel drive.
The 2024 Sorento hybrid and plug-in hybrid models remain unchanged, and the facelifted hybrid models won't be available until the 2025 model year in the U.S. These hybrids will continue to utilize the same powertrains as before, featuring a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four gasoline engine. The plug-in hybrid version will have a larger battery pack and a more powerful electric motor, with a previously claimed EPA-rated electric range of 32 miles.
Kia has mentioned that the 2025 Sorento hybrid and plug-in hybrid will introduce a new Dust Blue interior upholstery option, although the trim levels and specifications for these models have not yet been revealed. Pricing for the 2024 non-hybrid models is also yet to be announced, but it is expected to increase somewhat compared to the previous Sorento, which ranged from $31,415 to $45,015.
