I've had 4 Toyotas in my past - 3 4Runners ('00, '05, and '15), and I also currently have a '22 Tacoma Access Cab V6. I love Toyotas - they are great vehicles, but I think the constant Kia bashing is getting a little old. My daily driver is a '22 Kia Telluride SX w/Prestige Pkg, and going on three years, it's easily one of the most enjoyable vehicles that I've ever owned. I've had far more issues with my Toyotas than I've ever experienced with the Kia. My '00 4Runner was indeed absolutely trouble free and lasted 250k miles. My '05 had several electrical issues. My '15 had constant oil leak issues that the mechanics could never figure out. My current Tacoma with only 8K miles has had three instances of brake warpage. I've had my Kia for 3 years now - a fully loaded vehicle with every option available - and literally nothing has failed. Nothing - LOL. Kia has indeed had its share of recalls (including a recent large recall for the Telluride); on the other hand, Toyota may not be recalling cars when it should - Toyota just admitted last month to covering up unintended acceleration issues dating back to 2009 and paid $1B+ in damages . People will keep knocking Kias based on Toyota's long-standing quality reputation - again, I get the narrative, and I like Toyotas too, but Kias are not near as inferior as Toyota lovers would love for you to believe. No Kia is perfect, but frankly - from my experience - I can attest that Toyotas are anything but perfect either.
Kia Telluride, much more love the bigger tires. More classy inside and outside not so plain. It has more room inside, I've driven in both. But I do own a 2020 white Telluride and love it! Looking into getting a 2024 or 2025
@@dcon8602 My local dealer has a bunch of GH's on the lot and is already discounting them by $3k+. My local kia dealer is charging MSRP for the Telluride and up until a few months ago had a markup on them. Nobody wants Toyotas new world order cars.
I bought the lowest trim XLE for the Grand Highlander and i'm surprised that the one you're showing does not have the same as mine. First off, mine has a panoramic sun roof that goes all the way back and is electric, unlike the kia's here. Also comes with rubber floor mats and they are nice. Under the trunk is another compartment with a spare tire. You only saw under the initial part. That whole plastic comes out and has a jack with spare tire. Lastly...If you buy new, you get Toyota Care which is free maintenance for 2 years or 25k miles, plus a 60k mile warranty for most everything...PLUS a LIFETIME powertrain warranty. So if your car has 150k miles on it, and something happens to the engine, you get it fixed for free. As long as you keep up with the maintenance of course and don't void the warranty. My only concern is the price tag on both of these cars new is at least 50k. It's too much for either car. Especially with high interest rates. It's almost 900 a month plus insurance. Big hit to most peoples budgets.
Maybe you paid extra for more warranty but they only come with a 36 month/ 36000 mile warranty for bumper to bumper and a 60 month/60,000 mile power train.
This is a hard one to make a decision.... but grand highlander hybrid engine has a lot more hp and torque with better gas mileage. Telluride is cheaper in price at all levels....
Grand Highlanders were 12 months out and Tellurides charging 6k dealer markup. So I ended up buying a VW Atlas SEL even though I wanted the Grand Highlander Hybrid
Complete opposite my guy... the atlas is nice but so is the grand highlander and VW stay fried up...always have problems!! U should have waited for the grand highlander
This is not even close..after seeing both of these driving next to eachother on the highway (top trims)...the highlander looks like a completely higher class of vehicle... its weird because the telluride looks more premium on screen but in person the highlander looks a million times better...especially when cruising down the road...toyota definitely knows what they are doing.
@xtremecoast it actually does have acoustic glass but you have to get higher trims... and that's cool and all about the v6 over 4 cylinder but I'm pretty sure everyone was saying the same thing about the v8 and v6 when every manufacturer began slowly getting rid of the v8 for turbo 6s..yes there are still v8 out there but it's not as common as it used to be just like theirs still v6 but not as common as it use to be.. even Benz is putting 4 cylinder in their vehicles... so unless you kno what ur saying don't try to debate.
@@dcon8602 I was at the dealer today and they told me it didn't have acoustic glass. Do you have a link to where it shows that it does? I've always found Toyota to be lacking in the sound deadening department. Also, there's nothing wrong with a 4 cylinder, if it's naturally aspirated. It's when you try to squeeze something out of one that isn't physically possible, that's when the problems start and they're already showing with the Lexus GX 550 and the Tundra.
@xtremecoast it's not letting post the link but u can look up.. the higher trims come with acoustic windshield and both front side windows...and Toyota is pushing 4 cylinder because of emissions.. they believe electric cars aren't ready yet but they will be when solid state batteries are the norm...they sell roughly 12 million vehicles a year so if they aren't converting to evs like everyone else they have to reduce their global emissions footprint one way or another

@@ejonesmiata that's not true anymore. I find that if they are labeled as AWD, then it is full time all wheel drive. That impacts wear and tear and fuel milage.

People are saying the telluride looks more luxurious on the inside... thts cuz kia is the modern day Mazda before mazda started trying to go up market...but realistically when u buy a toyota or lexus the price is what it is because ur paying for longevity...ppl can complain all they want but the fact tht when u purchase a toyota product...u can expect it to last atleast 20 years...thts where thw price comes from.
I feel that’s a bit of an outdated look. 10 or 12 years ago you could say I bought a Toyota because it’s a Toyota but now companies like Kia rank just as high and reliability. It feels like Toyota Honda are kind of rusting on their laurels with their boring uninspired interiors.

You sound stupid. Most people don't keep cars that long. 5 years max. That's 78% of the market. You can't beat the Kia/Hyundai/Genesis warranty. The Telluride looks way better.
I feel like if the Toyota had a naturally aspirated version I'd go with that. I am still hesitant on the longevity of an engine that is forced fed air. I like the looks of the Kia but I like Toyotas better reliability record.
Telluride looks better but can't replace a Toyota. As Scotty says I would buy Kia if it is 10K less than Toyota and the use the savings to fix the future issues.
I will go with the Telluride V6, more power, more technology, looks better with almost the same MPG of the grand Highlander 4 Cylinders. Telluride has proven that it's reliable and has a better resale value.
This didn’t really help make up my mind as both vehicles tick a lot of boxes we have to replace our 10 year old Odyssey. I like the Toyota brand more, but like the Kia dealership in my area better. The Toyota dealership service dept here are crooks! Will probably end up with the Telluride based on how I’ll be able to tailor the financing options to suit my situation and the additional amenities available for the money.
What about future maintenance cost, you can have a good car with a lot of issues, I give a lot of credit to that, i have a Highlander for 20 years, no issues, just oil change and driver, i do not trust Kia cars, resale value also matters.
Grand Highlander only looks good in top spec. Wheels are too small otherwise. I like its utilitarian monster rav4 looks. Kia can get kind of gimmicky and not as timeless because they change everything every year or two. But the Kia interior looks way more luxurious than the monotone Grand Hihlander. Also tired of Toyota seat designs.
The power, reliability, height and third row in the Hybrid Plat/Max Telleride kinda kills this in the looks department. I hate how all of the third rows look like a after thought, different seats, no ambiant lighting or power seats in most.

The GH doesn't even have dual pane windows. Typical toyota noisy on the road. I'll take a V6 over a 4 cl with a CVT any day.

Why is the highlander not offered in 4x4? Most people don't need full time AWD. Its usually only needed for inclement wet/icy weather and offroad.

I went with the 24' Telluride, but if I had to commute the Kia would never had made my short list.
a properly kicked stone/rock from nearby vehicle into the open grill on the telly will take out the a/c condenser and cost you easily $600
I’ve test driven both. My impression is the Grand Highlander feels more like a truck on the road. Where the Kia Telluride is easier handling.

@@1993rufus the longevity and reliability you talking about isn't free fool, you pay for that when overpaying for the Toyota. Not to mention if you want all the features that this Telluride has, you'd have to buy the top of the line Toyota which easily tops more than $10K more than the Kia. So nah, you go ahead and pay that to toyota. Me. I'll save that money and let it accrue interest..AND enjoy my fully loaded fun to drive telluride
