I guess the Taos is different enough from the normal Golf it has it's very own issues?

I know someone with a 2016 Juke with over 100k miles now, afaik no trans issues. (I would definitely hear about it if the trans went out😂) I also distrust the Jatco CVT's used by Nissan early on, but I hear they have become far more reliable in recent years.
If you maintain the CVT you won't have problems. Just do maintenance on the CVT every 20K miles and it will easily last over 200K miles. Most people don't do the maintenance, then bitch about a bad CVT. That's on them. Follow the owner's manual and you'll be perfectly fine.
