Great video, naphtha works great for cleaning bearings too… AKA zippo lighter fluid. I use ronsonol, just let it soak in there and give it a good spin and rinse and repeat until it’s clean. Naphtha dries quickly and leaves a thin layer of oil on the bearing.
For the metal shields that doesn't have that ring. I usually take a flat head screwdriver and pry it out. But you will damage the bearing shields as you pry them out.
ambassadeur reel bearings are sealed like in the 5600c4 - how do i clean them? like in lighter fluid and oil the bearings...how do i unseal the bearing?
Sealed bearings are not serviceable but you can hit them with some penetrating oil. Eventually the oil will find it's way into the bearings to a degree. That's about it. Hope that helps and thanks for watching!
This reminds me of when my brothers and I were younger and we tried to clean and reuse our bearing in our roller blade wheels. Some of those bearings were definitely not serviceable. 👍
you can buy these bearings from almost any bearing company, you don't have to go back to the manufacturer, you can even upgrade your bearings, the company will tell you how to order the proper bearing
Very true. A lot of the time getting bearings from manufacturers can be difficult for older discontinued models can be a challenge. By measuring the dimensions of the bearing you can get a matched alternate replacement from a bearing company. Boca Bearing is great! Thanks for watching!
With Shimano "sealed" ball bearings, i succeeded using your method, fantastic, thank you for this tutorial!! 🙂👍
