To add to your thinking about a grail, I think Arthur Schopenhauer said it quite nicely: "To attain something desired is to discover how vain it is." That will not deter me from getting my grail, an SBGA211, soon. Fantastic video. Have that watch myself. It's a stunner.
Interesting angel to take with watch psychology. I have bought several luxury watches and ended up selling them all, as after a while I'd rather have the money back than the watch. It used to take about a year before the novelty wore off now it's like 3 months! Fulfilling an emotional need maybe but it doesn't change your life. The hunt and buying the watch most exciting, the next one will have to be even more considered...
I have been lusting over this watch for a long time. Your psychology regarding grail watches is a bit of a downer but reasonable. (I still feel this would somehow change my life...) :-) Great video as always!
Wow! That accuracy rocks! Love the simplicity of this one 🙂👍🏼 I feel the dial should only have the “GS” logo, it would add simplicity to the overall look-n-feel. Thanks for sharing!
I own the SBGN005 which I love. This is an accurate and fair review. I have some different opinions but they‘re just that-opinions. I find the bracelet and watch very comfortable. I would say the clasp is the weakest point of the bracelet since it has no on the fly micro adjust and doesn‘t close flush with the bracelet, in common with nearly all GS bracelets. I have no problem with using the crown. Anyway, great job, many thanks for this fine video, including some lovely photography.
Thanks! Overall I really, really love this watch! Good observation on the clasp, strange it isn't flush. My Sarx055 bracelet is perfectly flush so I know they can do it :P Enjoy your SBGN005! :)
It’s a great watch!. Mine has gained 0.3 seconds in 11 months, which is mind-boggling. I have a 6 and 3/4 inch wrist and find the bracelet fits me perfectly - as does my Snowflake. I know the lack of a micro adjustable clasp is a common critique of Grand Seiko, but I have never missed it on either watch.
Nice, I'm glad you are enjoying yours. Yes, the accuracy is mind-bending. Fortunately my wrist doesn't swell much in the summer so I can survive pretty easily with a quick adjust claps, but with microbrands putting really nice ones on $500 watches, I hope it raises the standard for all watches eventually :)
Good observation, I agree. The hands are also just slightly undersized in my opinion, but apparently it has something to do with the weight of the hands that the movement can drive.
I agree about the zaratsu polishing , its over rated for sure , I have 2 GS and the polishing looks no better than other high end watches in my collection, that said they are fine time pieces.
Could not agree more. I'm surprised and a little disappointed in Seiko in that the polishing seems to be a marketing gimmick. The polishing is great - but I can't tell it apart from my other luxury watches.
Fantastic video and 003! Interestingly, your revelation of not being 100% satisfied with a grail watch is, unfortunately, common. I have what many would consider a grail collection (Rolex Daytona, GMT, and Submariner) but I am still interested in other watches (like your 003). Here's my collection: ua-cam.com/video/NhLkfMcMnmw/v-deo.html

That’s a perfect quote for how I felt haha. Thanks for sharing
That is absolutely stunning, it looks beautiful in the natural light!!
Thank, it is really hard to capture, it looks unreal in person.

I agree. I feel like the hunt is most of the fun! It is hard to just having a lot of money tied up in such a superfluous hobby, but here we are 😝

Maybe it will for you!! I think I just like checking out new watches, very few of them end up sticking!
Wow! That accuracy rocks!

Totally agree, the dial is super nice, so I think less text on it would be even better! Thanks for watching!
Love it , want one. This is a beautiful GS.
Thank you, it is really nice!

Pretty cool, just the lume area on minutes/hours hands seems so similar in size

Well shoot, now I have a new grail.
It is a good one!

Yes, still love the watch just not getting what the fuss is on the polishing :)

Wowza!!

Interesting! I will check out your collection. So you are confirming there is no escape from the hobby haha! Oh well
@@JustWatches1 yup, it's a rabbit hole :)
First 🎉
Yes indeed!
The more I learn about Grand Seiko, the less I like the brand. Thank you for making this vid.
You are most welcome, I like the brand but like many things certain aspects of it are probably over-hyped.
I'm the same with Rolex
Why??
